I think I already posted it here, but I can't find it...

I FINALLY got the time to install the CJ turn signals on the grill of the TJ last night. I mounted them and started to wire them up, but don't have running lights. These are repops that I bought from 4 Wheelers and they have only two wires (red & black), but the bulbs in them are dual filament. The TJ has three wires (green, black, and black/yellow). I got the turn signals working (green on the Jeep goes to red on the light), which is better than nothing, but neither of the other two wires make the running lights come on.

Somebody help me, please...

I went home yesterday armed with a volt meter and a test light and didn't even need them...

I pulled the wires and realized the following:

1. I had hooked the turn signal wire from the Jeep to the parking light wire of the light, so it was a dim blink... I fixed that.

2. When I looked in the fuse panel, I found that I had blown the paring light fuse. I replaced that. (I must have inadvertantly grounded the wire out while I was stripping them.

3. My panel lamp fuse was missing!!! This explains why I haven't had dash lights for the last 6 months. Duh...

So, for anyone taking on this task on an early TJ, the following applies:

The green wire from the harness is the turn signal wire and connects to the black wire on the CJ turn signal.

The black wire with yellow stripe from the harness is the running light wire and connects to the red wire on the CJ turn signal.

The black wire from the harness is not used and should be cut short and capped.

I now have working running lights and turnsignals up front. I'll post up some pics after this weekend to show how they look.
