I recently purchased a 2001 TJ Sahara from Lou Grubb in Phoenix (Mike Di Bennedetto). It has a SkyJacker lift (I don't know how high) and 33"s with decent wheels. I also notice that both of the hubs have recently been removed and replaced. Keeping in mind, they may have just been repairing leaks or removing expensive covers, I'm wondering if they may have changed the ratio.
How would I find out if they did anything, and what they did?

You can pull off the diff covers and count how many teeth are on the ring gear and how many teeth are on the pinion gear. Then devide them to get your gear ratio.
But before you do that check to see if the tags are still on the diff cover bolts.... That will tell you the ratio also if it has not been changed from what it came with from the factory.

There's another way to determine gear ratio without having to drain the diff and remove the cover. If you've got an open diff, jack up one side so you can rotate one tire without the other tire moving. Put your tranny and transfer case in neutral so your driveline will turn. Mark you driveline with chalk/crayon so you you can count the number ov revolutions it makes as you rotate your tire.

With an open diff, rotate your tire two full revolution and count the number of revolutions your driveline turns. 3.73 revolutions = 3.73:1 ratio.

If you're locked, just turn the tire one full revolution and make the same count.

It'snot an exact science, but will be close enough to determine what gears you have.

Here's a good writeup on various ways to check it including the above method (although they have you disconnect the driveline)
