What kind of interest do we have here on putting together a fire run to Payson?
If there is enough interest, I'll call Payson tomorrow and find out if the firefighters/shelters need anything before we firm this up.
If you are interested, please post-up saying so.

I just called Payson and found out that the Red Cross opened a shelter... but then closed it back down because it wasn't necessary. It looks as if help isn't needed yet (the Red Cross is turning away volunteers), but I asked them to contact me if things changed and assistance/supplies are needed.
Please... if you are interested in going on a support run, sign up on this thread so we can keep track of people. Watch this thread over the next few days and I'll report updates here.
Kind Regards,
Joe

Since I raised this suggestion in the Yahoo thread for this I'd be remiss if I didn't sign up here. Thanks for spearheading this, Joe. We need someone who was involved last time and is familiar with the process to organize it.

You can count us in, as long as I can get off work. My daughter is involved with Phoenix Explorers and it might be possible to get them involved as well.
Let me know,

I speak for all of the ROCK RATS... we will join for the run, but lets be realistic here....There have not been any homes burned, or people harmed yet...Hopefully not either, but remember all of the "homeless" in the gym??? I dont quite think its time just yet.....hopefully, it wont get that far....

I brought this up when I heard the news that folks were being evacuated. Sure, nobody's lost their home yet (and hopefully they won't), but that doesn't make them any less in need of supplies. I'm sure the Red Cross can provide them with the staples necessary for daily hygiene, etc., but if they have to stay away from home for more than a few days, they would probably appreciate other items to help them relieve the boredom. The firefighters could probably use some things as well as they've been at this for awhile now.
We'll see how it pans out and at least be ready to go if/when we're needed.

My niece is working as a firefigher for the BLM out of Payson this summer. That's what she wants to do for a living and this is her first firefighting job. She attended the EVIT firefighter training program and just graduated from high school.
She was out on the Willow Fire, even though it was out of their jurisdiction. She went back to her apartment in Payson to find the area blocked off and evacuated. I am not sure where she is at. I was thinking she's probably at the local high school or wherever they are sending evacuees. So there must be some evacuations going on.

Count me in if we are needed. I missed the last one due to things I could not reschedule. As Flexy said I am sure all the RockRats will join in.
