hey all, what would be the best way to go about cleaning the under carriage of my Jeep (XJ). Mostly to clean off the road grime and other cr4p that has built up over the years. Is there any possible problems to look out for? Would it be neccessary to change oils, lubes, bushings, etc? Thank you for your time.
Mods, if this is in the wrong place, please put in the appropriate area, thanks

Easy answer Simple Green and a Tooth brush you will get everything clean but it does take a while to do it right.
Now for a honest answer although the above answer will work. Go to the High preasure car wash and spray it real good. Let it dry and grease all the zerks. As far as fluids check them and remember if you wheel it use the high use milage numbers. It is cheaper to change fluids then replace the parts that require them. HTH

i second the Simple green real good degreaser and ENVIROMENT friendly but I usually hook my pressure washer up to the drain valve on my waterheater or if you have a adapter you can hook it up to your kitchen sink or other faucets. but i keep soaking it with Simple green for a couple days drive it up on ramps, get on some grubby cloths i don't mind throwing away and climb under it and spray away of course it is always a good idea to change your fluids and make sure all is greased well when you are done. i could just about eat off it when i am done it is so clean.....

These guys make the only portable undercarriage cleaner on the market. Too bad it's patented.

I vote for Castrol Cleaner, but it is a bit more harsher on paint (but it can take out some oxidation) and it makes alum turn white if it sokes in. But for a cleaning undre the hood and undernieth, it does great. Spray it on, let it sit for a few mins, then hit it with a pressure washer. That cleans most of my junk...

I used my pressure washer to do this a few weeks ago. Nick was nice enough to let me put my jeep up on his lift to do it... :) Thanks Nick.
Of course you will need to find another lift, but that is the easiest way to do it.

You don't have to use a lift with a Bottom Feeder (www.nolimtindustries.com).

True, to some extent...
The bottom feeder looks interesting, but, it kinda cleans by using the shotgun effect... Just blast everything under there and it will get clean.
I have a large flat skidplate under the middle of my jeep above which the transfer case, transmission, part of the front driveshaft and part of the rear driveshaft sits above.
For my case, the bottom feeder would just blast the skid plate clean but would not clean above the skid. On the lift I was able to aim the pressure nozzle to clean all of the nooks and crannies up above the skid plate, above the muffler and above the axles.
The bottom feeder is a pretty neat concept, but I would hate to have to find a place to store that big bastard in my garage

All 3 nozzles are angled to reach around and above flat surfaces. The handle folds up so you can lean the unit against a wall or hang on a hook. It's only approx. 48"x48"x12" tall.

Do you own the company, or just work for them ?
