Meeting at McDonald's Carefree Highway and I-17 at 5:30 am. Not going all the way to Crown King, just between Bumble Bee and Cleator.

:D Ok Shawn, I'm in but don't be late this time.
Maybe Karen can go, she likes to go during the week and I'm sure there are some others out there, maybe even someone who has been on the trail before.

No, I think you have yourself confused with the other Shawn who is always on time.
I e-mailed John D. and he is in but Karen is out because it's too early. If Mike Score is in town he might come also.
See you then

There is too much confusion going on here. lol
I believe the McDonald's is just east of I-17 on the north side of the Carefree Highway, right Rich?? It is in a shopping plaza if I remember correctly.

Shawn
You are correct on the location of the McD's and it sits out front close to the hwy. You can't miss the arches unless you are confused.

Had a great time today...really cool trail...too bad Bob wasn't home...I guess we'll just have to go back again to sign his guest book...gosh/darn...and I'll make sure my air hose is working next time...thanks for the assistance...and hope to see you all again soon....wow... what a great deal on beer at Cleater bar...maybe they are trying to entice more customers....I don't know anywhere else you can get a beer for a buck....lets hope it's not made with their water....we may start growing hair out of places it shouldn't be...until next time.... :D

The shank on the tire air release is too long, the hose just lets the air out of the tires, I'll have to buy the hose that just pumps air continuously, without a lever I guess to make it shorter, 4 wheel parts is going to looovvve to see me again....unless anyone knows a quick fix....

Is this the yellow hose that has the silver clip to hold it on the valve? I thought mine was bad at first, it just let air out, but I didn't have it on far enought. When it is on, you should see none of the threads of the value and no air coming out. If it is not all all the way, air will come out.

Like I said, the shank is too long, and not enough thread, so I can't push the hose on as far as it needs to go..... :(...but I will try it again tomorrow, Rich tried it too and couldn't get it to work...maybe things will work better in the am without the sun pounding down...
Joe...I don't know what that means....?

If your valve stems have a chrome sleve it will cause that problem also. Not letting you get it on far enough.

John
That's exactly what occured. We pushed it on until it hit the chrome sleeve and all it did was let air out.

So what type of hose can I get instead? Any ideas? Thanks.

Well unless you are really attached to the bling factor of the chrome sleeves just take them off. You can slip them off, just not real easy, take your time in the shade this eve with a pair of side cutters & small flat screw driver to help pry the little suckers off.

Well, Big O Tires was kind enough to remove the sleeves off the tire valves, and they even gave me chrome replacement valves if I ever want to put the bling back on, all for free..thanks guys! So My OBA is up and running....wuhoo!!

We all had a great time, thanks mainly to Ron Hunt. Rich was at McDonald's first, I arrived at 5:20, then Wayne, then Karen. We left McDonald's around 5:45 and headed north. We took the Bumble Bee exit and turned off of the road before reaching the real trailhead, but ran into Ron Hunt in his rig, also his daughter and her boyfriend in his Rubicon. They were going to run around the area and agreed to lead us on Turkey Creek.
The trail did not turn out to be particularly challenging, but it was fun. There was no water to cross, only rock fields with rocks about the size of grapefruits which made the going slow. Ron lead us to an old mining site where we had snacks and drank some water. My mutts got to lay down on some cool rocks which they enjoyed.
We ended up at the bar in Cleator by 11:30. As Rich told Karen, "Jeep club members get to go to all of the classy places." We all had a nice time. The barkeep even let me bring in my mutts so they could cool down some.
Thanks to all who signed up and came along. Next Friday I think we are going to run Table Mesa.
