I heard a conversation on the Ham a bit ago about a couple of fellows walking out of FR 25A. One of them has a stuck vehicle which he couldn't get out. The other is a Ham operator. It is a bit after two PM. I am heading up that way. Monitoring Mt Ord repeater. 146.92. Low priority but if anyone wants to come along, let me know what to expect? Maybe see you there?
Another vehicle would be nice.

I wouldn't wait on here for a reply. I heard Jack on the radio shortly before he posted this. It sounded like he was leaving pretty quick.

Update: Just heard on the radio that they are not going to try and extract it today. Jack is bringing the owner back to town to put together a plan to get it out tomorrow.

The fellow with the truck is back, he asked to be dropped off at the Baja station near the Casino. The truck is upstream from the rock garden and at 4PM we decided to leave it there for another night. He spent last night in the truck...fun stuff. He said the owner left yesterday later in the afternoon on a bicycle (that is not a typo) and we saw no sign of him all the way down. We don't know what arrangements the owner has made, if any, to retrieve the truck. My interest was to make sure the people with the truck were out and OK. I would guess that the owner now is in charge of the retrieval. I gave the driver Joe's info. I don't know if a regular tow truck can get to the stranded pickup. That's about all I know.

That's about all you can do if they don't want recovery support. Good job Jack.

Now that's some heads-up, looking out for a fellow wheeler if I've ever seen it! That's awesome, Jack! You got word of this by monitoring HAM radio and just went up there and picked them up. I can't give you enough rep points for that one. Great job.

More information on this....I didn't do all that much. Dave, an amateur operator and his wife Julie found the fellow, Rollie, by the truck and were walking him back down to the intersection of 25 and 25A when Dave (whose call sign I am embarrassed to to admit I cannot recall)(I am new to the ham stuff)called Mike WB4ZKA and talked about this. I was just cruising around Fountain Hills and heard the talk. I just went on up there and picked up Rollie. Dave and Julie then were able to continue their own trip in the woods. I was not at the time aware of Dave and Julie's plans for the rest of the day. I found later that they were coming down to the valley yet this evening and could have brought Rollie down to to where he wanted to be dropped off. I found them about 300 yds from the intersection. Rollie, the driver, has no way to contact us but I did give him Joe's info for recovery. Wait and see what happens.
Whoever plans to go through the Sunflower loop tomorrow might be in for some time out.
