Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone in the group has a pair of TJ stock coil springs from a six-cyl? Mine are starting to sag prematurely and I was hoping that I could replace them with fresh ones. Thanks in advance!

Jon,
That box canyon trail you found might also be the Surprise Trail. The FRxxx
sounds about right. Did you run into a spot that you came close to or actually
had to climb the walls to get through? This trail was highlighted during the
GWT ceremony at Bartlett Lake a few years ago.

Here is a message describing the photos:
Here are a few pics from our trip this weekend to smasher canyon around cottonwood AZ....beautiful day and lots of fun. Paul tipped it onto its side real slowly and I was tetering on two on a four foot ledge until Chad gave me some counter balance and I was able to drive out of it...the trail is a new trail after all the weather...loyds rock has been washed down along with half the hillside....Oh well the more things change the more they stay the same....enjoy the pics

Subject: return from Death Valley Jeep run
I made it back yesterday evening from the Jeep+Willys News Group Death
Valley Jeep Run.
If I hadn't brought along one heck of a head cold, it would have even been
better than it was! <G> We had about 14 Jeeps show up, representing the
states of Washington, Oklahoma, Arizona, Colorado, and California.
Death Valley is a national monument and national park. Although it is an
interesting place to sight see and visit, with many neat things to look at
and snap pictures, it is NOT for Jeepers. One of the local rangers had a
really bad Jeeper attitude. Luckily, he was kept in check, somewhat, buy
one of our guys who happens to be an FBI agent....one of those card game
things....I'll see your park ranger and raise you an FBI agent....now show
me the rules that say I'm wrong!
On Friday, we ran the Lippencot Mine trail. I have read write-ups on this
(I think 4x4wire has an article on it right now) about how awesome this
trail is. Something along the lines of "...seven miles of high-pucker
factor LO range 4x4 wheelin'...." or something like that. Let me tell you,
I have never been so disappointed in my life. My wife's stock Cherokee with
open diffs could have ran it without ever spinning a tire. I think a Ford
Taurus with a 2" body lift probably could have ran it!
boring...BORING>>>BORING!!!!!!!! The only exciting thing that happened on
the trail was a friend drove off the trail while dinking around with his
video camera. We pushed him back onto the road surface by hand. Also, the
infamous Groiler (sp?) Canyon trail had been bull dozed the day before we
arrived....so much for that trail.
On Saturday, we headed out of the park, having enough of the off-road
attitude being displayed. We went west into the Panamint Mountains and ran
a trail called Pleasent Valley. Although not overly difficult, at least the
stocker Jeeps got to drag their skid plates on this one <G>. We climbed to
about 6300' up to the top of the mountain....an uphill trail all of the way,
with a ton of switch backs in the last few miles (we all felt like billy
goats!). We got into the snow line, found a few trees, and were presented
with some nice scenery. Pleasent Valley is an old mining era piece of BLM
land so we were able to play around without having Ranger Rick of the
Monument Gestapo try to arrest us. After we came back down, I headed back
to camp with a couple of folks (still feeling very much under the weather)
while the healthy guys went down the road a couple of miles to play in
Surprise Canyon. They reported some metal damage and a good time!
I pulled out Sunday morning and headed home. It was great meeting all of
the Jeepers that I had swapped e-mail with for so many months/years. For
those of you who know about Bob Supplee, he sent a couple of his ball caps
along with the guy from OK. I now have a Bob Supplee Jeepin' hat (great
amounts of Jeep greed was expressed by those not getting a hat!)
Well, that is about it for now. Just thought I would share the adventure
with you all. I'll be posting some pictures when I get a bit of time to
filter through them. They'll probably go up on my off-road page.
Later.......Stu
p.s. Having seen what the park service has done to the "4x4 trails" in
Death Valley, I urge each and everyone one of you to fight against any
proposed land monument or organized land grab by the government. If this is
what our multi-use roads will amount to, you might as well sell your Jeeps
and by a used golf cart....at least that might be more of a challenge, some
of the time!

Hi all --
After a few months of work, I have completed (ok nearly completed) my
ScoutII axle swap on my CJ5. It cost WAY too much, but should be worth
it. I took it for a test spin around the neighborhood for the first
time in a few months and MAN is it different. Only thing left is
making shock mounts, and I'm DONE!
Anyway, I threw some pics up on my webserver for those of you that

Dear OHV Enthusiasts:
As you are probably aware, the Forest Service and the BLM are facing
increased pressure from environmental groups to substantially reduce or
eliminate OHV use on public lands. Several new policies are being considered
at the national level that could severely effect OHV recreation. As a result
of these actions many forests are working on OHV or access management plans.
It is critical that the enthusiast community becomes actively involved in
these planning efforts if they are to have any chance of success. Active and
effective involvement requires that you understand governmental processes
and the various ways you can participate and influence the process. For
these reasons, the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council is
sponsoring a free workshop specifically for OHV enthusiast leadership, and
we would like you to join us:

various agencies. As an enthusiast who has used these tools effectively, I
would encourage you to attend the Saturday session. If you cannot attend, I
would urge you to pass this information along to anyone who might be interested.
Your participation in this part of the program will help you increase your
effectiveness in working with the land management agencies to ensure that
your OHV recreation experience is maintained and improved. To register for

and going over to Bisbee area then up to Safford. Are there any club runs

It would be great to have you two come up here with us.....I dont know when
david is planning on leaving Pheonix but I know he said he would be in
sedona at 10:00 am at the trail head. I think I would try to set something
up with him to travel up here to the trail. The first time I saw his
cherokee was on Broken Arrow...we have history here.
I think David can Give you better directions coming from the south than

Hello there!
We have the perfect run for you!
Sunday, April 2
It's a mild run, and the scenery is great!
the run is calld Rice Peak
probably rated a 3 (on the 1-5 scale)
It is one of the Tucson Rough Rider's
adopt-a-trails and we will be stopping to pick
up some trash, no road work needs to be done at this
time. As we have been on this trail quite often lately
it's going to be hard to find any trash!
We will be meeting at Ina and Oracle at 8AM
CB Channel 4 Bring a lunch.
If you need more info please e-mail me
or call at 520/881-3402.
Welcome to the great state of Arizona!
I hope you can make it.

Jon,
That box canyon trail you found might also be the Surprise Trail. The FRxxx
sounds about right. Did you run into a spot that you came close to or actually
had to climb the walls to get through? This trail was highlighted during the
GWT ceremony at Bartlett Lake a few years ago.

Greetings!
Brian Harmon has an album of photos for you to
see using the FREE PhotoPoint photo sharing service.

Anyway, I threw some pics up on my webserver for those of you that
remember the 'Screamin' Chicken':

I was wondering if anyone in the group has a pair of TJ stock coil springs from a six-cyl? Mine are starting to sag prematurely and I was hoping that I could replace them with fresh ones. Thanks in advance!

Subject: AZ TRAILS
Hello. I'm from SoCal and will be coming over to Southern AZ on Thursday for
a few days. I'll have my jeep with me and would like to maybe do some
moderate trails as I will be by myself. I plan on being in Tucson on Friday
and going over to Bisbee area then up to Safford. Are there any club runs
etc. that might be going on that I might be interested in? I have a very
well built XJ.
Thanks for any advise you might be able to give me.

Keith,
It would be great to have you two come up here with us.....I dont know when
david is planning on leaving Pheonix but I know he said he would be in
sedona at 10:00 am at the trail head. I think I would try to set something
up with him to travel up here to the trail. The first time I saw his
cherokee was on Broken Arrow...we have history here.
I think David can Give you better directions coming from the south than
I....I will drop him a note if he doesnt see this.
