Bummer! I am possibly tied up on Sunday (won't know until Saturday) so
Saturday is the only day I can do it for sure. Maybe you could call in
sick? Your dog ate you wedding present?
So, I still plan on Saturday. 8:45AM at the shopping center at Cave Creek
and Scottsdale Road.

Sharx, is the wedding during the day? Is there a way you can leave at
Bartlett and still make the wedding?

Hehe.....imagine the look on the guy's face when the park ranger came out to
see what we were doing. I was just an innocent bystander but felt compelled
to help him out of the jam he was in. He got a citation for his efforts and
his Landcruiser was flooded so bad that he had to get a tow truck to come
all the way out there and take him to a service station. Can you imagine
the price of that trail romp? Can we say $100's....hehe.

Hal,
It sounds like you are getting awfully brave. I would like to follow you on
some of these trails..., with my strap ready. If you get a solid date set, I
will try to get a Monday off & go with you. I'll probably be on the "Trail
work" run 4-1 weekend, so I won't be able to make it then. This Monday I
will be out of town.

Hal,
I might be willing to lead the way - on Terminator that is. From what
I know, Predator is a body damage trail and I don't do that.
But we can do Lower Terminator, Upper Terminator or even Raw Deal. With
a small group of vehicles or with well-setup vehicles, we could possibly
do two or all three of these. Lower and Upper Terminator normally take
me and my buddies about 3 hours each. Raw Deal is less than an hour
unless you battle the optional upper end (ie. the true raw deal).
I'd need to know a date to determine if I can go. And I'll need a
starting time to determine how much we should try to do. Would you
be driving up from Tuscon on the selected Monday?

Likewise and I would like to know where is this trail

Much thanks indeed for the offer. I will probably need the most help on the
trail as is right now my free time is spent 4 wheeling and not sleeping just
to trudge back to work the following day and school the day after that ;)
I know it will take me a while to do. My mother gave me the ok on doing the
suspension early with the warning that if I break anything I will be on my
own period ;) muahhaaha little does she know that 4x4's are
indestructible. well almost.. ok ok well maybe a little bit if you have
lots of armor on them ;)

Hal,
No problem with the strap. And I looked at your Jeep's description.
With 4" lift, lockers front and rear, and 4.10 gears (I'm guessing
due to the 4-banger), you should be ok.
Ok, here's a summary of who wants to go and when thay *CAN'T* go:
Roger - 3/27
Hal - 4/3
Tim - 3/27, 4/3
Marc - <none>
4/10 seems to be the earliest Monday that all of us are available.
Let's all check our schedules, spouses, etc. and determine if this
works.
I suggest that we try to do lower and upper terminator to make the
drive from Tuscon worthwhile. As always, we'll ultimately have to
play it by ear because you never know when someone might break down.
Plus, those that have never seen Anaconda may wat to spend sime time
hiking it - it's quite amazing. Anaconda shoots off to the side
near the start of lower terminator.

virtual members,
I was cleaning out the garage and noticed i had a few items that I
probably will never use. They are free to whoever wants them. I have
the oem spare tire carrier that bolts on the back tailgate of a YJ. I
also have the drivers side and passenger side upper 1/2 soft door
frames. The drivers side is in good condition and the passenger side
has the lower rail bent(could be fixed with some effort) I will
probably keep these items for a week and then trash them. If intersted
please email..
have a good day..

U-joints are more common than you think in marine stuff. Anywhere a
couple
of shafts join you can have misalignments that u-joints absorb. Jet
boats have fixed drives and fixed engines joined by no less than a cv
joint.
Now I don't know about the carrier, but if it has u-joints I doubt
they'll fit my Dana 44 outers.

Subject: Vendor Alert!!!!!
For all of you responsible 4x4 builders,
I can not express the disappointment I have for RUSTY'S OFF-ROAD. I am
warning those of you who have not had the terrible experience of %#*%#
service from a so called reputable Vendor. I ordered parts for my 5" lift
from Rusty's Off-Road on the 9th of March. The cost plus shipping = Close to
$600.00 dollars. First - the packages (3) after 5 days on a 3 day shipping
fee, never showed up. Second - Rusty explained that it was a UPS problem, so
I called them. Well, it seems that the package was not even sent out until
the 16th of March. Third - Now with a little disappointment shown towards
Rusty for the lack of honesty, suppose ably things were now straightened
out, and things cooled off/feelings mended. Fourth - Now looking for the
package to be here around the 21st to 22nd of March, NO DIDN't HAPPEN! So
after another uneasy phone call, it was assured to me by Rusty that I would
definitely receive my package no later than Friday. OOoopps! I to think that
after all this I believed this again. Well anything can happen to anyone, so
I figured it as bad luck and awaited my package. Friday - Hey, I got my
package (1). Opened what really looked like a very much too small package
for a lift, and what do you think I found - Only my lower control arms, and
my adjustable trac bar. Boy, those parts are getting more and more expensive
every day. Fifth - I call Rusty and explain that I received (1) package and
would like to know where the rest is, and again of course, He could believe
that it didn't make it, for he boxed it himself and sent it right out. Well,
after checking and waiting with more delay, Rusty finds out that He forgot
to send the rest of the lift. Well no problem, He explained that he could
get the rest off by next Tuesday or Wednesday and for another shipping cost
I could receive my package by Wednesday or Thursday of the following week,
(Maybe!). Now remember, I have already paid for three shipping charges. SO,
after some not so light conversation, it is still in the works. If he can
arrange it, he will do his best to get the package out sooner. Well my
friends, I am telling you this because I am not the only person that this is
happening to. I have been in contact with others (no names please) and this
seems to be a regular business practice. So if your shopping for a lift for
your rig, I would like to recommend that you definitely use another Vendor.
I try to give someone the opportunity to make things right, for things can
happen that we all do not expect. But to have the attitude that Business
must be so good that you do not need to respect your customers, SOMETHING IS
WRONG! Hopefully this will not happen to you. BE WARE!!!!!!!!!!

I hate to say it, but I have to agree with you. I have had success with
Rusty in the past, but I've had it now. I ordered chrome moly axle shafts
for my Dana 30 in January. Didn't get the stuff until late Feb...and the
order was wrong (sent the wrong outer shaft. Rusty claims the mistake and
delay was with Warn...and I was inclined to believe him...but it took
countless calls to him to get the correct shaft sent...which just arrived
yesterday (remember, I placed the order in mid January). He said he credited
my charge card for the error, and sent a UPS pick up slip in so I can return
the wrong shaft, but I don't believe a thing he says anymore.
He said the delay in getting me the correct shaft was that there was a
problem w/ the UPS label machine...which blurred the bar code...so UPS was
taking longer to deliver it, since they had to go by the address not the bar
code. The package finally arrived yesterday...no blurred bar code.
A really nice guy to talk to, and he comes across very honest, but I'm fed
up with him. If he had just leveled with me, I would have appreciated it. At
best, he's an extremely inept businessman.

Here is an update. I think this will be a good run:
1. We will meet at the shopping center at Carefree Highway and Scottsdale
Road. Near the Abco Supermarket at 8:45. We will head out to Bartlett
Reservoir at 9am.
2. We will air down at the pay station and take FR42 the normal way - from
Bartlett up to Indian Springs Wash and then Indian Springs wash back to
Horseshoe Dam Road.
3. We will head back out Horseshoe Dam Road about 5 miles to Blue Mountain
and turn onto FR413. That is part of the Great Western Trail. We will take
that to FR20 and on to Needle Rock and then end the run at Tonto Verde.
4. In the early part of FR413 there are some spectacular optional hill
climbs that it is very hard to pass up in a Jeep.
5. In the latter part of FR413 there is some of the most beautiful wash run
that you will find anywhere in the state. It is not challenging but good
fast sand and wonderful scenery with shear cliffs and narrow canyon walls.
There are lots of side roads along the way and some pretty good rock climb
challenges as well.
Come on along.
