I went to the mesa hunters' safety course last night with my son. They had a game warden come and speak to us and he brought up the topic of OHVs without the proper plate and sticker. He says that they are getting presure to stop issuing warnings and start ticketing. So beware everyone and make sure you have your documents with you when you are out riding.

I got an OHV ticket for not having a plate or tab, I was on my brother in laws dirt bike, I do not own any atvs or OHV's so I did not know about the law, I hope the Judge does not say "well, ignorance is...." how would you know if you don't own one? Anyway, I went to a place where I saw others riding and was cited. I will take it to court and just explain, I had my family and brother in laws bike and Joyner and just did not know, again, because I do not own one. I do wish they would have a metal tube and some envelopes that you can pay a fee right there at the riding area, like at a camp ground, I would have paid the fee and then known, but, what is done is done, I have a court date later in February, and the fine is $158.00, I will contest it, probably in vein, but I will at least give it a try. I now know and my brother in law did get them tabbed, but he only rides these at the Dunes, but he should have known, and I would have tabbed it for $25.00 on line, anyway..........

If you don't own a car, does that mean you can borrow one and drive it however and where ever you want to?

Sorry, if you are going to drive ANYTHING ANYWHERE, you better find what is legal / illegal

Only thing I might suggest is to get it tagged before you go to court. If you get auto ticket for no insurance, the fine is usually cut in half if you get insurance by court date. Worth a try

It's more like if you borrowed a car and got pulled over for the vehicle not having a valid registration (you were driving in a legal manner otherwise - not speeding, staying off the sidewalk, etc). Is it your fault or the vehicle owner's fault?

If I am going to borrow a car, yes I am going to be sure that the tags are current and it is insured. If not, my fault.

This OHV sticker thing has been so widely publicized (all over this board too), I cannot believe you or he did not know about it

Ignorance of a law is no excuse. They will hold you accountable. As stated it is your sole responsibility to ensure that you are riding legally. It does suck but it is what it is. Sorry you got fined but don't be surprised after you plead your case you are slapped with the fine.

Im glad they added the helmet tickets---tired of seeing dumbshi% parents letting their kids ride without one.

This morning I went to court for my OHV ticket. It was just the Game and Fish Officer, Judge and my self. I explained everything I have done to come in to compliance regarding the motorcycle with no title. I am waiting on MVD to issue me a title after the certified letters come back. The Judge said, if I have the OHV sticker, title and plate with in 45 days the fine will be $90. If not $170. He understood completely the MVD process. So I have 45 days to make it so.
