Has anyone bought any of the various quads or motorbikes from Pep Boys? They are REALLY cheap, like $400 for a tall wheeled 50cc bike. I would like to know if they will do for a occational ride for the kids or would I be better off investing in some older major name brand stuff.

My neighbor has 2 of those things. A150cc trail/street bike ($1K) and a 43cc ($300) pocket rocket.

The 150cc sucked. After riding it for 10 min. one of the four bolts that hold the rear sprocket on, fell off. We then noticed that most of the bolts were never tightened or torqued. The second day on it the front headlight assembly fell off at 30 MPH. He took it out to Croizer Road and did some trail work with it, now the rear shock/spring has no rebound to it. He took it back for some engine issues, hard to start, wouldn't shift . . . and they gave him another. Took this one out and romped it, rear is blown again. The sprocket bolt is missing after some lock tight red. Just junk.

The pocket rocket is REALY cool! Little bugger gets to 25-30MPH! He's had it for 2 days and runs like a champ. A little noisy, but fun as hell!!

I have a blata pocket bike. It wasn't cheap though. I've heard that the pep boys bikes are very easy to break.

just read in the paper this morning that cities are going to ban the pocket bikes from the streets since mvd says they can't be registered.....
