I am posting this to the AZ-VJC too.
Rick,
First off, I am not the leader of the AZ_VJC. The AZ_VJC has a moderator, but
no real leadership. It is a free-form email-based club and is open to any
suggestions so long as they focused on 4-wheeling, Jeeps, and not illegal.
I think your email really hits the nail on the head and is worth including
here. Many times I feel like we are fighting a multi-headed beast that will
never go away. I hope your prediction that no more events will be held out
there is not true! The ASA4WDC passed a resolution at the last quarterly
meeting that if the BLM demanded any sort of participant fee in excess of $10k
(I think this is right, Sandee let me know if I am wrong), that the ASA4WDC
4x4 Jamboree would be cancelled. The Jamboree is a tradition for many families
and I would hate to see it cancelled because of the actions of a few people.
I think it would be a great a idea if clubs would take up responsibility to do
the to schedule cleanups, repairs, and/or set up educational booths in the
Florence Junction - Box Canyon area (or in any other area of the state that is
popluar with the OHV and 4x4 crowd).
Events such as the rock crawling event were great and I am sure some interest
was sparked in organized 4-wheeling. People who already feel a need to be
responsible for their actions are easy to reach, but it's the ones who don't
care that are the ones that really need to be targeted. The Gold Canyon area
clean up was an educational experience: The fact that a large portion of the
people who came out to ride dirt bikes didn't have permits is not surprising.
I have been pondering the best way to get information -- and I keep coming
back to the concept of setting up a card table on the side of the road and
handing out information to anyone that comes along. It seemed to work at the
Gold Canyon site -- G&F had their education trailer out there.
Any ideas for bumper stickers? They are a great way to influence the way
people think.
We need to start looking forward.

My thoughts would be a 2" spacer lift with new shocks, around $300, then
31x10.5 tires on whatever rims you pick. Will be close but you might be
able to get it done for the $900.

I think a lot of people don't even know you can or should have permits to
use state trust land. I didn't until just last year. Communication will
help to a certain extent.

When G&F sets up their trailer in a particular area, would it be possible for
them to actually sell permits right then and there? People would be "put on
the spot" and may feel obliged to cough up the twenty bucks. Once people
have paid money to use an area they may feel more obliged to help keep it open
by not littering, etc.
Just an idea.

My state trust land recreational permit just expired and I'm thinking
about renewing it. But having read here about people with permits being
cited for the dust abatement ordinance, I'm having second thoughts. Can
anyone tell me about this ordinance? Is it enforced everywhere or just
close to town? Does it prohibit me from traveling on trust land in any way
or does it just prohibit me from kicking up a bunch of dust. And how much
is a bunch? Sounds like the enforcement could be rather subjective. TIA!

the visor. Someone stepped over the ropes and took it. Can't believe of
all places a charity car show for a child that had been burned and someone

You know you are a Jeep owner if:
You are constantly broke or soon to be broke.
The more you spend on car parts, the harder it is to get in the car.
You suffer from height envy (clearance envy, lift envy - insert one)
Articulation doesn't mean speaking clearly
Droop doesn't refer to jowls after age 50
A Super Swamper is not a nifty swamp cooler.
A run doesn't involve moving feet quickly
"I'm just going to the store", means "I'm going off road for the rest of
the day."
Channel 4 is not NBC (CBS, ABC, FOX)
Traction is not putting your broken leg in a sling.
Class 4 doesn't mean the 4th grade
Rubicon Express is not a high speed jewelry scam
Lockers are not what you get for your door to keep burglars out.

Reasons to tell all:
1. Gives them information on the economic make up of each area in the
survey. This allows them to get accurate numbers in putting in schools,
police stations, fire departments etc...
2. Most importantly, gives information to politicians as to what people live
where. This info is very important so that the politicians will know what
to lie about when they come to town. The will know what concerns to speak
on that we want to hear, what to avoid talking about and what empty promises
they have to make to get our vote. Please don't deprive them of that.
Actually I have no idea what they would do if you only filled in question 1

5. I think it was the toughest of the event, of the 60 who attempled
it.......14 made it over and eight of those winched...all the other
competitors timed out!
Several broken axles, one rollover, and only one perfect score on the
obstacle from Shannon Campbell
Wh had over 400 spectators on friday and double that at times on Saturday.
There was only one line up and over and if you missed the line by 2" you
fell off the side or into a 4' crack. Saw a bunch of you all during the
event. it was a great time!
When is the next one....I gotta go! Maybe we can convoy as a group and camp

My state trust land recreational permit just expired and I'm thinking

cited for the dust abatement ordinance, I'm having second thoughts. Can
anyone tell me about this ordinance? Is it enforced everywhere or just
close to town? Does it prohibit me from traveling on trust land in any way
or does it just prohibit me from kicking up a bunch of dust. And how much
is a bunch? Sounds like the enforcement could be rather subjective. TIA!

Reasons to tell all:
1. Gives them information on the economic make up of each area in the

2. Most importantly, gives information to politicians as to what people live
where. This info is very important so that the politicians will know what
to lie about when they come to town. The will know what concerns to speak

they have to make to get our vote. Please don't deprive them of that.
Actually I have no idea what they would do if you only filled in question 1

it.......14 made it over and eight of those winched...all the other
competitors timed out!
