i dont remember who makes that kit, but i do remember that it does
replace the ujoints with D44 ujoints, but the actual shaft is made to
factory spec. they are no stronger or weaker than the stock shafts. im
thinking it was a warn kit but im not too sure.

Hey Group!

I just posted a couple of pics and the write-up of my TJ's new rear storage
box. Made it myself....one of those weekend projects (letting the paint dry
does take time!). Got to field test it at the Coves this weekend and it
worked fine. Kept everything in place, nice and quiet, etc.

Anyway, if interested, you can see it at:

I've been a member of your club for a month or so and have enjoyed
reading your postings. I am a member of the Arizona Dust Devils and
have a TJ. Just thought I would tell you all about the great time that
I had doing the Rubicon Jeep Jamboree USA. I did it last year and am
signed up to go again this year. It is near South Lake Tahoe and is a
first class event. Two nights on the trail at a private base camp,
located in the middle of the 12 mile trail. It's all Jeeps, CJ, YJ, TJ
and Cherokee's, there were about 60 from all over the United States.
Last year there were two Jeeps from Arizona. The event is supported by
two helicopters, spotters, and great cooks. They have live music and
an outside bar at the base camp, powered by a generator. So if your
looking for a thrill and a great time, I'll see you there.

There web site is, JeepJamboreeUSA

The date is August 11, 12, 13

Cost $265.00 per adult (Children are a litte less)

Skyjacker now has a "Rock Ready" line of lift kits for XJ's and YJ's.
These kits
provide 6 inches of lift. The YJ kit is interesting - it uses monoleaf

RE also has an option for either a 1-3/4" coil spacer or a 3/4" coil
spacer thereby taking you to 6" in the front. The rear would just need
a taller lift block along with the new spring packs (or something like
that). The coil spacers are on page 9 of their catalog at:

http://www.rubiconexpress.com/catalog/rubicon.pdf

It's a big PDF file, but has all of their pricing and stuff. Make sure
you price a SYE kit while your at it. :-)

here's what I got from Sandee a while back:

Directions or site location are not being released until Thursday night at
the meeting at the Best Western Hotel. Other then it's being held in the
Florence Junction area. Maps and information will be available Thursday
night and Friday morning at the hotel, or if you drive Mineral Mtn Road
south off Hwy 60 you'll find the event.

The competitors will be leaving the hotel in Gold Canyon (Hwy 60 & Kings
Ranch Rd, M.P. 202) at 9:00 a.m.

That's all I know at this time....... Hope it helps.

There are 2 ways to find your ratio:

1- there's a tab attached to one of the cover bolts on your rear diff that
will have the info.

2- Call a Jeep dealer w/ your VIN and they'll be able to tell you the ratio
that came w/ that particular vehicle.

What trail ratings are there? I am a novice(that is giving me too much
credit) when it comes to rock crawling. My experience is all dunes, mud,
hills etc... I only have a 2" spacer lift with 31x10.5 tires so I would
have concerns trying some of the higher rated trails.

Thanks

If you need to know your ratio, try this. Jack up one rear wheel until it is
off the ground (this assumes you do not have a locker. If you do, then jack up
the entire rear of the vehicle). Put the t-case in neutral. Get underneath the
vehicle and count the number of revolutions that the driveshaft makes as you
turn the tire. If you have 3.08's, then the driveshaft will turn just barely
more than 3 times as you rotate the wheel once. If you have 3.73's then you
will get 3-3/4 rotations out of the drive shaft, etc.

I think Josh has it. My 98 TJ 4.0/Auto has LS and it is 3.73. Also
stamped or tagged on Diff case. I checked it using the tire to DS
method and it checks out the same.

To be honest I've always used kerosene or something like STP engine
cleaner to clear sticky valves. Works great, use bout a quart and run
it for about 15 minutes tops, then drain and put in all new fresh oil
and filter. Worked for me every time.

With a locker you simply need to turn one wheel. With an open diff,
you need to turn both wheels equally - takes really long arms or a
buddy. But this method does work.

Not quite. With an open diff, you leave the opposite side tire on the
ground. It won't turn that way. Therefore you don't need a buddy or really
long arms. If you have the entire rearend in the air and you have an open
diff, then yes, someone does have to turn the other tire. But with one on
the ground it solves that problem. Also, somone asked about the spiders or
pinion and that I might be leaving something out. The spider gears are a
wash since they are all the same size and there is one on the other side. As
for the pinioin, that is half of what is making the ratio. It IS included in
this method. You'd have to see one in operation to understand. Take my word
for it, this method works. I and MANY others have done it. It's a great
junk yard check when your looking for a new axle and can't read the tags on
the axle.
