UP DATE on RULES FOR PERMITS for use of BULL DOG WASH on Tonto National Forest

As a result of massive abuse regarding the permit and combination for Bull Dog Wash entry, the NEW REGULATIONS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

As per the Mesa Ranger District Supervisor, Art Wiertz.............. 3/30/04

EVERY VEHICLE ENTERING MUST HAVE A PERMIT. These permits MUST BE OBTAINED BY THE ACTUAL PERSON SINCE THEY ARE SIGNED AND YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE THIS PERMIT WITH YOU WHILE INSIDE THE GATE. You will be asked for a picture I.D. at the time of signing the permit.

1: Each individual vehicle must have a permit.
i.e.: A club 4x4 run plans a trip into Bull Dog Wash: EACH vehicle must have a permit. If the rig is towed in on a trailer the tow rig, trailer and vehicle would be under one permit.

2: A tow rig and THREE quads or bikes may apply under one permit.
i.e. If a family has a tow rig with 5 quads/bikes they would require 2 permits; two tow rigs and 9 bikes/quads will require 3 permits. One tow rig with 5 bikes/quads would require 2 permits.........

We need to be responsible on our trails and help police those that are abusing the rules................. They will cause ALL OHV to lose trails and rights.

Thanks for your help in making this a smooth transition. Please don't scream at the Rangers............ They didn't to this to us........... WE did this to ourselves!

1) Is Bull Dog Wash the same as Bull Dog Canyon?

2) Is the permit for Bull Dog Canyon from last year still valid or is there a new one.

Just need clarification, please.

Thanks,
Bill

Bill,
Yes, Bull Dog Canyon is the same as Bull Dog Wash...............

Permits issued in the past were only good for 6 months. The new ones will also be good for 6 months but if anyone is caught in the canyon without a permit "in hand" they will be cited.

Massive abuse has been done by permit holders giving the combination out to friends, thusly allowing large numbers of non-permitted recreationists in this canyon.

This new policy is going to be tough and I'm working on ways to help but I don't see anything happening soon............... EVERYONE will have to get a permit. :
