Hey! I've been running a Lockright in my Dana 35
(powered by the 4.0 HO I-6)
for over two years now! I've not run into ANY trouble at all!
I'm out wheelin' almost EVERY weekend!
In fact I'm so happy with the locker a new Lockright for
the front is on the way.
If you want the Detroit - get it - and don't let those stories
scare you. If you do get a Detroit, and you want to regear
down the road, say to 4:56s you will have to buy a new
Detroit, a Lockright can stay with your gear change/upgrade
however. Just my two cents.

Check out the Super 35 kit from Superior at www.drivetraindirect.com
It has 30 spline axles, and now comes with a Detroit locker (or Lockright with special carrier). I wouldn't recommend a locker without these axles for the D35.

Subject: No to Road Closures
As a member of Arizona's largest Jeep club I feel I must write to you and
express my feelings about recent road closures.
As a club we promote responsible off road use and encourage trail clean up
such as our recent Coves area clean up near Saguaro lake where my family
participated with the club in removing hundreds of pounds of garbage from
the area. We are more than happy to work with rangers & other officials to
help preserve the land. Also remember that those roads are the only means
for many elderly & disabled people to be able to enjoy the wilderness. I
hope to help keep these areas open so my children and others can enjoy them
as I have.
If I may suggest your efforts may be better spent educating the public about
responsible off road use and not closing it off to those of us who are
trying to make a difference.
Thank You for your time,

Subject: Bar-BQ Ox, Offers to Help!!
Thank you all for your kind words and offers to help reincarnate my Jeep. I
am very touched and amazed at the generosity you have displayed by offering
to help me. The truth is that my Jeep is no more. There is little left to
rebuild from. I have a frame and roll cage, some skid plates and the front
axles/diff. but that is about it. The tub was never that great to begin
with and I don,t know if any or much of the drive line can be saved. I am
sure that the engine is toast, and I imagine that the seals and such in the
tranny and transfer case are melted. I think that the rearend is salvagable
but feel certain that the inner and outer seals are melted to the axles. I
have not yet started to do anything with it yet. I blame my delay on the
weather but quite honestly I just can't bring myself to deal with it yet. It
is insane how much of our selves we invest in these vehicles. I had no idea
how strong a bond I had with this Jeep untill I was watching it burn. The
last three days have sucked. I fully intend to replace the Blue Ox when I
can but I have strong doubts that it can be rebuilt.
Sorry for running on. Thanks again for your offers of help. This is an
incredible fraternity this brother/sister hood of Wheelers we belong to. You
guys are great. See you on the trail very soon.

Of course with all this rain this weekend I had to take the Jeep out muddin to a local dirt lot. It was great fun, half the time I was sliding sideways. Drove around awhile in the rain for the naturall carewash, went back twice more and on the fourth run through the lot got highcentered and stuck solid... I had to walk home at 2am in the freezing rain for about a mile. Oh ya, I was on a date to... She loved it! Hahahaha!

Hey Guys,
I found the Maricopa County Environmental Services Department regulation that they are using as leverage to close the Agua Fria Basin, click on this link, http://www.maricopa.gov/sbeap/ruledesc.htm , I am not fluent in "legalize" but there appears to be several alternatives within the regulation other then closing the area to all use. Please reveiw them and let us know what everyone thinks, if hundereds of us go over it we may be able to come up with some viable alternatives. Like Stu, I was appaled to find out Phoenix police are using a 38 year-old law to deal with a 2 month-old problem. Let's keep at this and get as many of our members as well as anyone else we know involved in finding solutions instead of just tucking our tails between our legs and moving on to wherever the county tells us we can go. For anyone interested, Dave, Stu and I all have a pretty complete list of the various agencies and groups represented at the meeting. I'll be bringing this information up at the next meeting of the Tucson Rough Riders and encourage any of you who are in other clubs to bring this to everyones attention. Thanks for listening and it is now time forme to get down off of my soapbox.

For all of you who forgot today, give it a try on Wednesday, like Doug said.
This could easily be the turning point for this Roadless Initiative....the
point where they might finally get the message and decide it is NOT what we
want. The pressure is rising, and we need to keep cranking it up for
another day!
Yeah....do it to it! As they said when I lived in Chicago, "Vote early and

Dear Mr. Dombeck,
I am writing you again to express my concern over your organization's
support of the Roadless Initiative. I have been told that you believe that
the majority of the people of this country also support this initiative. I
am writing to tell you that this is NOT true. I do not want to see millions
of acres of OUR land closed to multiple use access.
I realize that I am but a single voice and this a single letter, but I
assure you that I am not alone as I write this. The OHV community supports
practices such as "Tread Lightly", "Pack it in, Pack it out", and
"Adopt-A-Trail". In addition to this, our clubs actively coach our members,
new and old, to be responsible OHV users. Education is the KEY ingredient
to keeping our lands open and available for us, for our children, and for
those generations yet to come.
I recently visited several web sites that support the more "extreme"
anti-land use organizations. I won't include names, as this is not the
intent of this letter. I was very disturbed at the lack of educational
material (i.e.., could not find it) that they supply to help resolve the
problems we all encounter in public lands. It seems their "Band-Aid" for
the problem is to lock up the public lands. We all know that denying access
to the public lands will be about as effective as sticking our heads in the
sand. The problems will continue unless we educate the users.
I belong to an two different 4x4 clubs and both are extremely active in the
maintenance and restoration of our natural resources. The club I am in which
is based out of Tucson has adopted trails for their beautification as well as
a ranch in the southern part of the state. We are teaching others to use our
resources with common sense and not with disrespect. Closing off areas
will prevent responsible users such as myself from visiting, enjoying and
maintaining these areas but will not stop the irresponsible users from
destroying the same areas, the only way do accomplish that is through
education and a banding together of the various groups that are able to
take care of the land.
I searched the web, trying to find similar voluntary clean-up projects that
were initiated by these same anti-land use organizations. I am sorry to
report that I could not find any. It is a shame that they can only talk the
talk, and NOT walk the walk when it comes to land conservation. The people
they are trying to lock out of the public lands are the ones in fact that
are actually helping to keep them clean. If only they could figure out this
simple equation.
In closing, I again urge you to abandon this Roadless Initiative plan and
adopt one that actively educates and solicits the help from those of us who
do wish to keep our public lands available for all to use. This country
does not want to be locked out of the forests, pure and simple.
Thank you for time. Please feel free to contact me at the enclosed address
if you wish to discuss other avenues that will better serve all the people
of our great country.
Sincerely,
Hal Loy

If you want the Detroit - get it - and don't let those stories

Detroit, a Lockright can stay with your gear change/upgrade

Hahahaha!
My friend came over the next morning with his fj40 land cruiser and it took all but 5 minutes to yank me out.

Subject: Agua Fria Basin Closure
Hey Guys,
I found the Maricopa County Environmental Services Department regulation that they are using as leverage to close the Agua Fria Basin, click on this link, http://www.maricopa.gov/sbeap/ruledesc.htm , I am not fluent in "legalize" but there appears to be several alternatives within the regulation other then closing the area to all use.

As they said when I lived in Chicago, "Vote early and
vote often!"

Dear Mr. Dombeck,
I am writing you again to express my concern over your organization's
support of the Roadless Initiative.
Sincerely,
Hal Loy

Thanks for doing some detective work. I'll look at the site but my "lawyer speak" is not so good either. However, I have a friend who enjoys these things so I'll see if I can get him to look it over (cross your fingers). I'm with you....we need to show our strength in numbers for this, else it becomes the beginning of many closings to come...NO WAY!
