What does the Login & Privacy Use Invisible Mode do?

What is the Login & Privacy Use Invisible Mode setting? I have mine checked off but my user name still appears in the Active Users display.

I have that feature disabled. I figure that there is enough privacy and security because people can use a Nom de Guerre when they signup for the BBS.
