I know my Father was not a member here but I just wanted to say good bye to my Dad who passed away today at 4:45 PM. He fought a long 26 year battle with cancer until he finally could not fight any longer. He was recently diagnosed with colon and liver cancer, which his frail 81 year old body could no longer fight. My father was one tough man but he had a gentle heart and loved his family dearly. He was my inspiration during my small battle with cancer and he will always be my hero.

Prior to his death he told us how he had a vision of a beautiful angel who was wanting him to take a long walk with her and that she would be along his side the whole time. My father said he told the angel, "No, I have too many things to do." and he did not want to go on this walk.

During his last moments of life we told him to go Dad, go on the long walk with the angel and suffer no more. I can't describe the feeling that came over me, but it was a feeling I had never felt before. As it passed through me, I felt like I was going to faint, and at that moment my Father passed away to the Lord. I will never forget that powerful experience of that feeling as he passed on and it will definitely change my life forever. I'll miss you Dad, but I know you will always be there in my heart and soul.

Enjoy the walk Dad, and I'll catch up to you some day to hold your hand as we walk together once again.

Your Loving Son Mike

Sorry Mike. Not much else to say right now. He is in a better place with no more pain and sorrow. You will see him again, but hopefully not for a very long time.

Mike, Jeanette and family, we're so sorry for your loss today. Take comfort in each other as you gather to remember and celebrate his life.

Wow Mike! It's so cool that you described this to us. I don't think everybody is able to feel the moment the same way you did, you might be a lot more 'in tune' to other-worldly experiences. I appreciate that you wrote this, though, as I think people should be open to them. I somehow know that we should not let this life pass us by but try to experience it even it if brings fear to our hearts. ~d

Bless You All,
GnD

If he had to go... this sounds like it was a very peaceful way of going about it. I wish you and your family the best.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family tonight, Mike.

I don't know if it means anything to you, but at the Jeep Jam today we asked over the PA if you were present and then dedicated our last song to you and everyone else who has/is battling this dreaded disease. We played the song we'd learned last year when you were going through your own battle. The song was Freebird and it was about 4:15 pm.

Sorry to hear about this Mike. Cancer took my father at age 51. It was a terrible thing to see. Know that he is resting peacefully without pain.
Very nice tribute.

Mike, our prayers go out for you and your family. Thanks for sharing this experience with us. It's been 16 years since my
Dad passed from emphysema and all I can say is you will always
miss him, but will know from time to time that he is near.

Sorry for the loss of your father. I lost my Dad 4 years ago due to lung cancer. I hope you and your family can get through this time of mourning and be there for each other. There is nothing any of us can say to make the pain go away. But it time things will get better, you will always have his memories with you to remember him. Gad bless you and your family.

Thank you everybody for your prayers and words of comfort. We gave my father a very nice memorial service Wednesday and he was laid to rest on Friday at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona with full military honors. It was very touching.

Thank you all again.

Mike, I am not sure how I missed this post originally, so my apologies for being late to add how sorry I am about your dad. I found your words about walking with the angel to be most comforting. It is good to know that you will walk with your dad again, and that he is in good hands for now.
Take care.
