I noticed you guys are up on the "bald rock" area of Broken Arrow. Is that
open now? For the longest time they (whoever that is) had placed large
bolders blocking the main entrance to that area. Looks like you guys forged
another path to get up there. Correct? Or were there a number of other
tracks that led up there? I've got pictures from 10 years ago of me up
there, but nothing recent. Looks like you guys went up there and there
weren't any problems. Maybe I'll have to make another trip there soon.

It is the Best Western at the Gold Canyon turn off on 60 before The Junction.
I believe it is at the light at the first Texaco station.

If anyone is interested, I swapped my limited slip carrier for an open one and installed
a Lockright. It cost me about $310 total in the end for all of the parts. I swapped
the ring gear myself and reset/checked the gear mesh and backlash. It was all a VERY
straight forward process. So....for those of you with LSD rear ends and want a
Lockright and don't want to spend the extra $85, let me know. But IMHO, I would sport
the $395 and save yourself all of the trouble. Wish I had known about the No-Slip
before doing this. But....oh well. If anyone wants a better price from 4Wheeler's
Supply, let me know. I have a business I just started called Toybox Off-Road and I get
a discount from them on parts. Just let me know if your interested and I could price
stuff out for you.

Bob,
I just put the same on my TJ a couple of weeks back. Right now, I am
running mine at 27 lbs. on the street. Too early to tell yet if it is
causing any type of wear problem. I had asked several friends who have/do
run them and my pressure is in the range that they suggested, so I think I'm
OK for now. I keep an eye on the tread to see if anything unusual is
happening.

Yesterday, I received a phone call from the Cave Creek ranger station.
The person calling was checking to see if I had received the EA he had sent
(the one I got in the mail on Monday). So nice of him to call.
Before I had a chance, he commented that it was to bad that I had such
little time to comment on the contents of the EA....but if I did, they would
surely include them with the other comments.
I use these "politically correct" comments at work too.....been there, got a
fricking T-shirt to prove it.

They are doing F and R No Slips, 1 inch DayStar body lift and 1" Currie motor mount lift at the same time. Total bill with tax and labor is around $1400 if I recall. They do really nice work - they installed my 3" TerraFlex System also. The price for their NoSlips was as good as I could find anywhere but their labor is a bit steep. I have great confidence in their work. Aaron drives a fully rigged Jeep with Gigantic super swampers and what looks to be a 5 or 6" lift. I mean you could walk under the thing. He knows Jeeps.

Sure! But I think most of us will be working the rock crawling championship
and not 4-wheeling! At least not during the day. If you want to volunteer,
contact Sandee McCullen at mccullen@writeme.com or 480-832-8132. She was still
looking for volunteers as of yesterday. I can't tell you what is going to
happen out there, all I know is that a series of obstacles have been selected
to test driving skill, teamwork, and mechanical aptitude (if things break) of
a bunch of extreme 4-wheelers. There is no charge to watch the event.

Does anyone have a car trailer and truck that would be able to drag my
CJ5 carcass from Chandler/McQueen to the Williams Airport region? The CJ
will roll onto the trailer, but is disassembled enough that I can't
flat-tow it. I'm looking at a point a few weeks down the road, so
nothing urgent.

Subject: Business Directory
I had responded to a post about local businesses offering discounts,
etc, but accidentally sent it to Jon only, so here's the scoop from
that e-mail.
Could we create a database here on e-groups that could contain the
business name, address, phone, website, contact person, business
description and AZVJC discount (if any). As I understand it, you have
to be a member to access this group, so that would prevent the average
surfer from seeing the discount info if that's an issue. All local
recommended off-road business should be added just for reference sake.
It'd also be nice if AZVJC members could add their businesses (non-Jeep
ok) to the list if so desired. For example, I'd like to price out some
window shade screens for my house and would happily call a fellow club
member and support their business first. Damon's towing service, Jay's
Toybox Off-road, Steve's lock services, my web design business, etc.
I think Off-Road Unlimited has a club discount of sorts on their
website (www.macromotive.com) but I think there's a list of criteria a
mile long to qualify. I don't recall what all was required.
Just something to think about......

that our club carries a bunch of clout with businesses just by our sheer

us, but it's worth mentioning that sometimes price is not the only

Take a look and see if something needs changed.
Off-Road Unlimited's site (www.macromotive.com) says they offer clubs
merchandise for give-aways, etc based on the purchases of the club
members. Each purchase counts as points. I think the stores are
pretty seperate from the site though...at least they used to be. Check

I was out on the BLM RAC field trip yestgerday. Sandee McCullen was out there.
She said they are looking for people to camp out near the rock crawling route
to keep an eye on things. I volunteered to do this. The camp spot Sandee
suggested is just south of the entrance to lower Ajax. It is off the road and
there is probably enough room for several campers. I plan on being out there
Thursday, Friday, and (maybe) Saturday nights, Mar 9-11.
Let me know if you are interested. I will rescope the site next weekend for an
area that's big enough.

Count me in for Thursday and Friday nite. I have a small tent so won't need
much room, just a flat spot.

TrackLock rear and open front. I am having them installed at Off Road Unlimited-Scottsdale. The guy I deal with there is Aaron Dickinson 480-443-2559.

Chris,

Just something to think about......

us, but it's worth mentioning that sometimes price is not the only

Take a look and see if something needs changed.
Off-Road Unlimited's site (www.macromotive.com) says they offer clubs
merchandise for give-aways, etc based on the purchases of the club
members. Each purchase counts as points. I think the stores are
pretty seperate from the site though...at least they used to be. Check
