Unless something has changed they are rated 6 ply, but the actual
physical
construction is only 2 ply's, just like their TSL Radial line-up.
They are very weak, and IHMO are not worth the extra $$$.

Was reading a copy of 4 Wheel Drive today and noticed that there is
scheduled Round two of the ARCA Series that is supposed to be in
Phoenix on the 10 - 11 of March. Can someone enlighten me with some
info on this. Location etc.

If this is incorrect, please excuse my ignorance because I am new to
the group.

What's a wash and waxing?? Maybe I'll have to look into that one...

Anyway, welcome to the Club Jeff. If you're available this weekend and
want to meet a bunch of clubmembers, come on out to the Coves for the
cleanup/campout/trail run/swap meet (are we still doing the swap meet?)
Directions are at http://azvjc.web.com under Trip Calendar.

Subject: free complete Dana30 to first taker

Hi all--

I have a Dana30 front axle from a '90 Cherokee sitting in my garage,
free to the first person that picks it up. It's complete with brakes
(calipers and rotors). The assembly has a vacuum disconnect on the
passenger side (don't know if it (the disconnect) works properly or
not). Sorry, no linkage.

A friend swapped a replacement (non-disconnect) axle in and left it in
my garage, but now I need the garage space it's taking up. First come
first serve. As always ... no warranty on free parts :)

contact me (jeffm @ desertwave.com) for more details.

Regarding the sidewall strength of SSR's, several people in the vjc
know me, my vehicles, where we run, and some of the people I run with
well. People like Dan Dunaway who finished second in the Farmington
Rock Crawling Championship.

If I say the SSR sidewalls are strong, those who know me would take my
word
on it.

In short, ignore the number of plys on the sidewall. I've taken out
more BFG sidewalls than I have SSR's. In fact, my wife and I just
realized we've NEVER taken out an SSR sidewall in 2 years of running
them. We had one of the first sets that ever came out (that we put on
just before the first ever rock crawling championship in Las Cruces and
ran them with no problem).

Does anyone know the story behind the supposed "temporary" closing of Cepek's
stores? I saw in the window of the Tucson store a notice that stated that
the compnay was being sold and that the closure was to last for two weeks in
order to help facilitate the sale. I was told by another local merchant that
they had allready been closed longer than 2 weeks. The notice said that
anyone who had made deposits on, or prepaid for ordered parts or services
would have to wait for the store to reopen to make claim for money, parts or
sevices owed. So I was just wondering if any of you had any scoop on who is
buying Cepek and if in fact they will reopen.

For those who don't know, I have a 99 TJ Sport with the stock D30 up front
and a D44 with Trash Loc in the rear. It doesn't make the clicking sound
that is common with the Lock Right and the only time that I can tell it is
there is when backing up while turning the wheels hard, it pops as it
disengages. On the highway you don't notice it at all and it doesn't have
any affect on steering. I had it put in yesterday and already have about 90
miles on it but haven't gotten to use it off-road yet. This weekend at the
coves will be it's big test. I plan on putting a No-Slip in the rear when
the LSD wears out a bit more and money permits. So after 90 miles, 60 of
which was on the highway, I am extremely satisfied with the No-Slip's on
road handling characteristics (or lack thereof).

I've heard pretty much the same as DougB; Cepek is apparently
reorganizing. RAMJ+W had a thread a few months back asking the same
questions about the SouthCal stores, apparently they were open off and on
for awhile, or they would have bare shelves when they were open. Doesn't
look good for them, no matter what the eventual outcome. People tend to
look for better (more consistent) places to do business at that point,
and don't come back.

Great news. I am having front and rear installed tomorrow and we can compare notes at the Coves. That should be a good test of the traction improvement also.

I finally have the Powertrax No-Slip locker installed in the front of my TJ.

Near the end of May I am tentatively planning a 3 or 4 day trip to Las
Cruces and was wondering if anyone has information I can use to reach
members of one of the clubs there. I've never been there and don't have
any idea where the trails are. I would also welcome any company for the
trip, 4 hours on the road with no one to talk to is boring and my wife
doesn't 4-wheel. By the way, please accept my appologies for my lack of
manners in not introducing myself when I recently joined this group. My
name is Hal Loy, I live in Tucson and have been 'wheeling about 5 years
now, my Jeeps' info is in the members rides section and I'm always
ready to go on runs if I'm not working, (usually off Mondays and
Tuesdays). Hope to meet you all on the trail soon.

I've been running 35x14.5x15 SSRs for the past two weeks. I can tell you
that they are extremely quiet on the road... surprisingly so.
I thought I'd hear a great deal of difference in road noise between the SSRs
and the BFG KOs I was running; not so. I hear a little more noise from the
SSRs, but it isn't even detectable until 70mph and up.
Unfortunately, because I am waiting for my Currie Dana 44 up front, and I
currently have 3.73:1 in my front axle and 4.56:1 in my rear axle; I can't
tell you how they work offroad... yet. <grin>

First off, thank you much to all that responded on my need your help engine
miss problem. It did turn out to be a week fuel pump. No leak etc. just could
not keep up with the demand. This caused the float to starve under load.

Second, the Rock Crawl Championships are March 10 and 11 out in the Florence
Jt. area. Sandee still needs several people to help and if you are available
there is a meeting at the Gold Canyon Best western on Thursday the 9th of
March at 7:00 PM. I have volunteered for both days and will be going to the meeting.

Last, I ordered the Powertrax No-Slip from 4 Wheelers Supply. It cost me
395.00 and is due in next week. I will be getting one of the first released
for direct install to an AMC 20 limited slip rear. No carrier change. I will
be doing the install myself so will let everyone know how it goes and any
install or performance pitfalls.
