So....Lets say someone were to open a garage where you , as a member, could for a nominal fee and of course your signature on a waiver, rent a lift/space in a garage enviroment, where you could bring your own tools and work on your junk.....WOULD YOU??

That idea must have been floating around in the air today.. i had the same idea earlier.. i think it would be a great idea. I saw on the news a few months back of a place like that, just opened couldn't remember were. but i would use it now and then when i needed a lift i hate crawling under the Jeep my back has been abused the last few years and it would be nice to just walk around under it when i need too. I have been looking at those Lifts for my home but can't really figure out how to explain that one to the Wife she gets mad that it sits on Blocks most of the time yet alone on a $2500 lift.. im all for it....

Hey now, I trust myself to put a vehicle on a lift but, not the jerk next to me.

To answer your question, for my Cobra that would be great, for my Jeeps I think I have them figured out.

I know of a building for rent that has plenty of indoor space, A/C & air. Oh, and it has a paint booth too.

The A/C might make the entire deal fly, in the summer.

Yeah, Gearhead Garage. Right on Gilbert, just north of Baseline (or Southern). I met the owner, and talked to him for an hour. Very cool guy. He said that he would give the club a discount too.

Well thats KIND of the Idea But on a smaller scale. Something different, on the north side of town...

I think it would be cool if we got together and rented a small garage. I wonder how much it would cost for a hundred or so of us to chip in a monthly or annual fee for shared use. Perhaps we could just rent the after hours and weekend use of a garage already in operation. Of course there are lots of variables and things to work out but I wonder if it's feasible.

I would be all for something like this. I hate to crawl under my jeep. Of course with 6.5" of lift and 35's going on this weekend it will be a lot easier.

Would we need liability insurance and such for something like this? I would think so in case someone decided to hurt him or her self.

There are definitely some variables to figure out, but count me in.

Yeah I'd think a liability policy sold to a non-profit corp so individual members who would want to be a part of it are protected if someone hurts themselves. That and a solid "use at your own risk" waiver.

No clue how off-base this is but heck, if someone rents us after hours use of a shop at $400 a month and we had $100 interested people, that's $4 a month per, etc. Hand tools (wrenches and such) are likely another issue entirely since they are expensive and the shop probably wouldn't let people borrow theirs. Dunno.

If someone wants to spearhead an exploratory project, I'll help out. I'm not the right one to lead this project though :).

I would definatley go and work on my junk, There should be club member discounts though, and oh yeah One in Chandler..LOL
A/C would be the only way to go though, But with that theres the electric bill to worry about!! and with a lot of dumbasses out there there would definattly need to be a waiver, Rental tools would be cool (a Tool crib) and all the oils and different fluids should be sold there also.. I think if It had all that then I Might trek up town, to work on my junk!! Great Idea Joe!!! Keep me posted on any progress or if you need any help with anything!!

I thought about the same thing about a week ago. When I was in the Air Forse they had a place that you could things like this.

It worked out very well.

There used to be one in Sunnyslope in the late '70's, on Cavecreek. It was a row of pits, rather than lifts, though.

B.T.W....That is how Click and Clack (the Tapet Bros.) started out. :D

They have one on almost every military base. Find someone to get you on with a pass. It is only $3 for a stall or $5 for a lift. + all the tools and expert advise you can handle. For Luke AFB its on the west side, left after the gas station. That's where I do all my work.
