So someone in my reserve unit thought it would be a good idea to let me loose in Japan for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, we're kind of limited to what we can do because we'll be stuck to the base for most of the time but here's a sample of the pics I've gotten so far. When the clouds break I'll be able to get some awesome shots of Mt. Fuji......we're right at the base of it :)

Anyone notice how clean everything is??
I visited over thirty years ago and it was immaculate, they take a lot of pride in their country.
Great place to visit, at the time 1970 it was a little tumulcuous with all the military gents taking R & R there.
I'd love to go back.

Great pics, keep'm coming. thanks for sharing.

Yes, it is pretty amazing how clean and orderly everything is kept over here. Every car I see on the roads is clean and shiny, it's few and far between that I see one that has any kind of damage to it. The people are all very courteous as well, it is definitely a different culture over here. I'm coming back on my own time for sure.

Mt. Fuji is an elusive creature, here we can see it try to peak out from the clouds.

If you're quiet it will start to make an appearance.

Ah, there we go, it's finally comfortable with us and has decided to come out and say hello.

Wow, what an amazing creature.

Oh no, it's a dachshund, the natural enemy of Mt. Fuji. Now the mountain is scared and has gone back into it's natural hiding place.

Hasn't changed much since I was stationed down in Iwakuni. Ran all over that island back in 1973 on a 250cc Suzuki. Great people too, most of them speak English! If you get the chance, climb Mt. Fuji, it's a spiritual experience.

Glad you guys like the pics! Wayne, I've talked to quite a few people here who've climbed Mt. Fuji. The best story I've heard is one guy who went up with his wife and they camped at the top and caught the sunrise first thing in the morning. That must have been amazing! I'll be back as a civilian for sure and I think Fuji might be on the list when I do.

Man that brings back memories, Iwas stationed in Okinawa from 1978 to 1981 and traveled to the mainland many times. If you get the chance go to Tokyo on the rail system it's an experiance! I don't know how long you will be there, but if you get a chance to see or particapate in any of the Japanese holidays you will enjoy theexperiance :fashizzle:

Just got back tonight, I'll get a couple more pics loaded over the weekend when I get some time. We were only able to get one good night out in Japan. We explored a little town called Machida, it was pretty cool. It's always interested figuring out how to communicate with people when neither of you speak the others language. Luckily the Japanese culture is very polite and willing to deal with us crazy Americans :)

Well, I got back late Friday night, finally got a couple more pics uploaded. Here's the last of them, most are from our last night there when we were able to spend some time in town. It was definitely an experience to remember.

It hasn't changed much! Last time I was there was in the '80's

Looked EXACTLY just like that!

...and yes, climbing Mt. Fuji is an absolute must! Kyoto is the most beautiful place I've ever seen! Tokyo has a unique nite life!
