I've run Broken Arrow a number of times. I once had a rental place tell me that
I had to have a pass to run that trail. I did some research and my understanding
is that you do not need any special passes to run it. But the Pink Jeep Tours
do!! They actually have to pay some money to constantly run those trails AND
they are mostly responsible for keeping up the trail. The deal is that since
they run it some 20 times a day, they must ensure that it remains in good shape.
So some of them might get a little snotty because they know that you don't have
to maintain the trail while they do. My opinion is, if they want to get cranky,
feel free. It's a free country. I just ignore it and know that I have as much
right there as they do. I then continue on and have a great time.

Larry,
Everything Scott said is true, however once I had to deal with a
"snotty" Pink jeep driver, screaming at me she was a "professional
driver" blah-blah-blah. One driver was so nice to us he even took
pictures for us! You do not need a permit to run Broken Arrow.
Scott contacted the Sedona 4WDC and the president Scott was his name
too,
came out to our camp and showed us a great time! He wants everyone
to be nice as they can be to the Pink jeeps as when there is anyone
trouble or friction on the trail the local club gets ALL the flack
from law officials.

Subject: Re: Coil Spring Compressors on sale at Harbor Freight
I'll pass along a recent experience with AutoZone when last working on my
TJ's rear springs.
I needed a coil spring compressor. Stopped off at AutoZone to check in to
renting one. Yep...$40 deposit and the rental is free. Great, no problem.
I asked for a "coil spring compressor" and was given a one piece device made
to fit inside of the coil spring while performing its task.
Obviously this was NOT what I needed since it would have been impossible to
use. I explained the problem to the parts guy who then told me what I
really wanted was a strut compressor. He brought me a two piece compressor
which attaches externally to the coil spring.
I suppose it is possible that they were in the wrong box (ie., labeled
wrong), but he was very certain of the names and intended purpose.
So....be careful what you buy, or rent, and make sure it is the _correct_
compressor for your project!
Later........Stu
p.s. By the way, it worked great! I dropped off the compressor later that
afternoon, on the way home from my friend's house where we did the work, and
got my full deposit back. Nice way to do business!

Yeah. the idea was remote mounted cameras under your rig. Either several
pointing in different directions (at snag points, diffs., t-cases, etc) or
one that can pan in different dirctions with a viewing monitor in the Jeep.
I think Doug, Tim, Linda and I had this brain storm after several beers.

Note for viewing Administrative Unit Maps - read before viewing
The 8 1/2" x 11" printable Administrative Unit maps are in Adobe Acrobat pdf format and require the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to be viewed. The newest version is required (version 4.0 - 5.6 MB with an approximate download time of 30 minutes with a 28.8 connection). If you do not have the free viewer, you may obtain it here. If you are unfamiliar with Acrobat reader, you can get a short tutorial on its basic viewing tools (zooming/panning).
You must configure your Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 to disable web browser integration. If this is not configured, errors will likely be encountered during map rendering.
The maps are data intensive and can take a considerable time to load and render (approx 1 - 4 minutes for Administrative Unit Maps with 28.8 connection).
Printing is recommended to obtain the best full view and to ensure rendering is finished. It is also possible to download the maps to your computer for viewing by clicking on the map's link with the right mouse button and selecting "Save Target As..." from the menu.

Subject: XJ with 34x10.50R-16 tires
I found a couple of pictures of an XJ with 34" tires.... nothing with
35" tires.

http://www.off-road.com/~cc4wd/members%27/Phil%27s/Rubi/Rubi4.jpg
The XJ had a 6.5" lift, 34x10.50R-16 (255/85R-16) tires [tall skinny
tires again], 4.56 gears, front locker, and rear track lock.

Yep! The bumpers were made by Hunter Offroad. I own a Grand Cherokee
(ZJ) not an XJ. I doubt the my ZJ will see bigger tires so as long as
it's my daily driver!

I then continue on and have a great time.

pictures for us!

This is just my opinion, why spend the $$ if you can
borrow it for free from Autozone under loan a tool
(initial deposite is required but fully refundable).
Only thing is to drive it overthere and get them.
