OK. I will be out at Sycomore Creek this Saturday as early as I can. (I have to set up tables for a garage sell at home first for the girlfreind.) I will be parked at the entrance when you get off the highway if anyone would like to join me and hang out. I will be giving out flyers for both clean ups along with industrial strength trash bags that I get from my work.

At this point we have about 43 AZVJC members signed up we need more I do not have a time as of yet but it can be no later the 9:00 AM start time. So please make plans to help out. Jim -
With the new BBS format, how do we sign up for a run? I will be at the cleanup, but can't figure out how to say so on the BBS. Just got my BBS accound activated (took a while, don't know why) and am still feeling my way around...

Try here: http://www.azvjc.org/OldSite/Default.asp
For some reason http://www.azvjc.org isn't working. signing up is the same with/without the BBS.

I have a snorkel on my Jeep :D . Saving some kids in "Daddy's 4x4" at Sycamore is one reason I put on the snorkel, I should have known better. Be careful, there are holes in that creek.
I have a meeting at 2 tomorrow, maybe I can get out there early and help.

Is there any reason it shouldn't? Keep in mind I come from Oregon where everything you do is in the rain, so I find it odd that rain would stop anyone from doing anything. I hear these washes are subject to flash floods and one wouldn't want to find themselves in one at the time, but I'd think it'd take quite a storm to get a flood going, no?
Still learning the desert way of life...

I doesn't take much just a quick down pour and a wash could become a class 5 rapid. Also in the desert we have a lot of rain that happens in cells. So you could be down a few miles from a storm in the sun when a wash suddenly fills with water.

I guess I'll get used to monitoring the HAM weather band while I'm running trails in the washes :)
I tried to participate in yesterday's cleanup, but missed the Lower Sycamore entrance and ended up going in at Upper Sycamore (hey, I'm new here). I ran into a group (non-VJC) who were about to run the trail and they let me tag along. To avoid feeling guilty for running the trail when I should have been helping clean up, I picked up trash along trail. Here are some pics from yesterday (http://community.webshots.com/album/121804340pDuZWb).
