I had the exact same thing happen with my '97 Dodge 2500 Ram Van. After
Ernhardts ripped me off for a "needed" $300+ tuneup, which didn't eliminate
the light, they informed me it was the oxygen sensor, which was covered under
warranty. Live & Learn!!
PS: I have a '97 TJ with a busted right rear axle. We have the stock D35
with 3.07 gears now. We'd like to gear up to 4.10's. We are also thinking
about full floats & 11" disc brakes. Any thoughts from the group on the best
way for us to proceed? I know it's not going to be cheap, but I want to do
it right. Thanks.

I'm new to the list so I"m not sure what's been discussed before and what
hasn't...If you want to do it right then you should definitely forget about
the 35c, total piece of junk. There's so many things you could do just
depends on how much you want to spend. My personal preference would be to go
with a Currie 9", they even have this trick setup that puts 2 of the control
arms at angles and allows you to get rid of the rear trackbar! 2 guys with
ZJ's are having these built right now. Or you could check on how much it
would be to add the full floater and disc brakes to a TJ dana44. I'm sure
you already know this but make sure you put in a locker at this time, either
a detroit or an ARB since you are going for strength. A cheaper way to go
would be to check into getting a Ford 8.8 out of a 95+ explorer/mountaineer
and having that setup for you. I think they're about 1.5" narrower than a
wrangler axle but much stronger, they come with disk breaks, and they're
readily available which means it saves you $$.

I am looking at the 8.8 right now. The 8.8 will be a home project. Second
choice is a D44, full floating. I found a fab shop in town that will put
together the D44 for about $3100 (4.10 gears, Detroit, etc.) -- this might
include installation too, not sure. Desert Fabrications is the fab shop.
The only problem with either axle build is the ABS.

Hello
I just noticed on Carla Boucher's Legislative page that the BLM is
considering a new management plan. The info is at the following web site:
http://www.wi4wda.org/carlaboucher/blm-ohv1-12-00-cover.html
There is a link to click on a letter that you can print, and then send to
the address listed.
There was a lot of messages sent to the Forest Service for the other issue
happening, lets show the BLM that we want access too!
Just in case you did not send in anything on the 40 million acre land grab
that Clinton is trying to pass, there is also a link on this page for more
info to protest, as well as a place to print a form letter and send to the
Forest Service:
http://www.wi4wda.org/carlaboucher/roadlessnoi12-14-99-cover.html
Even though the Forest Service timeframe for comment has lapsed, there can
be no harm done in letting them know how you feel as well.
Just make sure to sign both letters, and include adress information, and of
course handwritten letters with specific ideas are always good as well.
Everyone needs to take action. If possible, please forward on to everyone
you know that enjoys using the ORVs!

Subject: Going to Parker. The Blue Ox won't die!
Hey folks. I had previously wrote that the 350 in my CJ7 was Dead and I
would not be able to make it to Parker next month. Well never say die. The
Blue Ox lives. This Story is a two beer tale for real.
Several weeks ago I lost my oil pressure and decided to replace the oil
pump. While I was at it I figured to replace the old dented up oil pan and
gaskett as well as the oil pressure gauge. This done I consulted some of you
about other things that might help improve the pressure because the new pump
only seemed to partially improve things. Several folks said to run 50 weight
oil so I go out and buy the most expensive synthetic 20-50 weight there is
(6qts = $26.00) and dump it in. Well guess what everything seems great so I
head for a 4x4 playground to check it out. After 45 minutes my oil pressure
goes away again and this time I start getting Mega engine clatter befroe I
can get two miles. I parked it and called a bud for a tow. Here is where I
last spoke to the club when I told you all that I would have to beg out on
the up coming River Run. It gets better.
Last night my lovely and ever so understanding bride says buy the new
motor. Yippeee! First thing this morning I ordered a new Goodwrench 350ci 4
bolt main out of a warehouse in Ohio. Work was slow so I went home and
started getting the Ox ready for a heart transplant. The new engine is to
arrive on Friday. Remember I just put a new high capacity Mildon oil pan and
hi output pump on it so I decided to pull those off first thing so I can put
them on the new motor. As the pan comes away in my hands I think I SH$T my
self. There covering the entire oil pick up sump was a Mildon Performance
bumper sticker. You know the shelf like plate in the oil pan that helps
prevent sludge from getting sucked up by the pump, well that damn sticker
must have been slid up under there flat against the underside of that plate.
So I jump out from under the Jeep and grab the phone. I dial the
warehouse in Ohio as fast as I can and find out that those efficient fellows
had shipped that nice new motor four hours earlier and it is halfway across
Missouri by now. So if any of you need a brand new GM350 let me know, I just
might know where you can get one still in the crate for a great price.
EEEHAWW EEEEHAAAAWWWW EEEEHHAAAAWWW!!!! I know this must take the prize
for bonehead Stupid Jeep Tricks. I pulled the waranty and installation
papers out of that new pan as well as the nuts and lock washers. I know I
looked in there pretty good before I installed it but that bumper sticker was
playing hide and seek. Good part I am going to Parker as planned and I got a
new motor coming that if I don't sell it I could allways put it in the Scout
80.

Don't feel bad about it Al.......you're not the only one. I replaced the
beat up oil pan in my truck with a new one and used the wrong rubber seal in
the front (naturally there are two different ones.......). When I dropped
the new pan off to replace the front seal I found a plastic drain plug
grommet floating in the pan. I had re-used the copper grommet and magnetic
plug from the old pan and never thought to look under the windage tray for a
new one.
Lesson learned: always shake a new oil pan upside down to see what the
manufacturer hid inside!

looked in there pretty good before I installed it but that bumper sticker was
playing hide and seek. Good part I am going to Parker as planned and I got a
new motor coming that if I don't sell it I could allways put it in the Scout
80.

Good luck, and let me know what happens.

I was able to purchase a lifetime warranty for the radiator I bought from
Hawks Radiator (Mesa) for my ZJ. I paid $230 for it. Since then it has
cracked but is barely seeping so I am carrying a spare radiator and 5 gallons
of water every time I go 4-wheeling!

I just got mine done last week so I did a lot of checking.. I should have
upgraded the whole deal to a D44 or some other better housing.. but ended up
just staying with the 35c. I called many places and Offroad Unlimited on
Broadway in Mesa had the best rate.. (about $500 for gears and labor) but
it takes a 1 to 2 week wait to get it in there. If you decide to use them
ask for John, i think he's the man over there.
After dropping close to 2g's on a 35c over the course of 2 months, I'd
suggest you go with better rear though..

Ack, I can't recall exactly, cause I can't find the receipt anymore. I
believe it was Industrial Radiator Supply. If I find the folder tomorrow
I will send their phone number as well.

Radiator Service Co. in mesa sells the three core for the cherokee for
$160.00
thier located at 424 E. Baseline Rd Mesa (480) 926-3555. They will probably
have to order it. And i think they said it's made by GDI.

I had the exact same thing happen with my '97 Dodge 2500 Ram Van. After
Ernhardts ripped me off for a "needed" $300+ tuneup, which didn't eliminate
the light, they informed me it was the oxygen sensor, which was covered
under
warranty. Live & Learn!!
PS: I have a '97 TJ with a busted right rear axle. We have the stock D35
with 3.07 gears now. We'd like to gear up to 4.10's. We are also thinking
about full floats & 11" disc brakes. Any thoughts from the group on the
best
way for us to proceed? I know it's not going to be cheap, but I want to do
it right. Thanks.

Actually mine did that right on the button at 40k, i just ignored it and it
went away. As long as Oil PSI was above 0 and temp was in the middle, and
nothing else seemed wrong.. I just ignore the idiot lights.

Saturday was such a success that I thought I'd see if
there were any of you that were interested in a night
run or a possible camping trip run in the next couple
weeks? I think it would give some of us a chance to
get to know each other since when you are on the

appreciate anyone that has ideas about a perfect trail
