Does anybody know the Arizona laws concerning Ag diesel fuel (died red)? My boss just picked up a '04 5.9 Dodge and was about to fill up at our golf course when I reminded him that it might be illegal to use it for highway use - as it is in Iowa. If the vehicle is used for agricultural puposes (golf course maintenance) would that be considered OK to use Ag diesel?

I know it is illegal. I am not sure how a person would be caught burning it though.
Also, on my Unlce's farm the storage tanks say, Not DOT approved, so it made me think is was different than other diesel.
Sorry I don't have an answer for you.

The red diesel is died red cause there arnt any taxs paid on it. farm and construction use only . off road that is. It will smoke more cause of the die.
Other wise there is no differance.

So presumably your truck will smoke more, you may get pulled over and if they open your gas lid and their test strip reveals red dye, you get fined. I don't know about AZ but I hear the fine is very expensive.
Saw this on a trip to TN a few weeks ago. Until recently I had no clue what that heck it was.

Thanks for the help. It looks like we'll be getting Mobil gas card.

I think a smoking '04 would be a real problem unless it was pulling a pretty heavy load. The newer diesels produce a lot less smoke (particulates) than the older ones --- government mandates.

Until you slap a chip, exhaust and airbox on. Then jump the fuel rail pressure and ad some aftermarket injectors. Then they smoke like hell!:D They go pretty fast too!
