A friend of mine who works for a defense contractor passed this video along to me.

The Apache was 1/2 mile away from the target. The video camera is part of the IR targeting system. I believe the gun used was a 30mm canon, but I don't have confirmation on that.

Note that this 4.8 MB file is NOT exactly dial-up friendly.

Stu,

Ouch! That had to hurt. The Apache is my favorite aircraft.

Check out this site

I like the part:
"has the ability to initiate the radar scan, detect and classify more than 128 targets, prioritize the 16 most dangerous targets, transmit the information to other aircraft, and initiate a precision fire and forget attack all in less than a minute"

Wow....that is one helicopter I would not want in the hands of our enemy. ;)

We started talking about it at my office after watching the clip. We decided that we are glad that there is no other "super power" like us... Could you imagine two countries with our level of technology duking it out on a global scale?

Stu, your were right. The AH-64 Apache comes (Standard factory stuff, or um, OEM equipment LOL) with a 30mm single barrel cannon. It was originally designed to penetrate Soveit armor. So ah trying to hide behind pick up, probably was a bad idea...

I wouldnt want to catch one of those rounds...
