I am going to Moab for 2 weeks. Leaving April 17 and returning May 2. I went up there last fall and had a gas, but 1 week wasn't enough. I also want to get in some mountian biking and hiking, so I won't be wheeling EVERY day. I need to explore a little more around there and do some camping in different places. I don't expect anyone to do the whole 2 weeks, but if anyone can get some time, it is SO worth it.

The first week is the Annual Jeeps Unlimited Moab run. More info on that can be found here:

The second week is more camping/hiking/scenery type of thing. I am planning 2 camping runs into the Canyonlands. These are intended to be lower intensity trails, with plenty of time for hiking around, exploring and general gawking at the unbelievable scenery (hey, I'm from Iowa, canyons amaze me).

The first one, which is tentative right now, is into the Maze District. This is a very reomte and very scenic area, with some good hiking trails. Trails are not very difficult (2.5ish from what I understand), but breaking or getting stuck back there is not a good thing, so preparation is key. There is also no water/showers/toilets back there. Gotta bring your own camp toilet. More info on the Maze here:

Looking at 3 days/2 nights, starting Sunday, April 25, out on Tuesday April 27.

The next camping run is the White Rim Trail, also in the Canyonlands. It is 100 miles long, but frequently done by stock 4WD vehicles. I already have permits and camp sites reserved. I can take 2 other vehicles with me, more than that and more permits are needed, and more campsites need to be reserved. More info on White Rim is available in Wells' Moab book or here:
Looking at 3 days/2 nights, going in on Thursday April 29, coming out Saturday May 1.

If you've ever wanted to do Moab, or want to do it again, let's.....
