We posted up a clinic before the holidays for wiring up lites and whatever.... We have two experts and we will be ready to go once I speak with them... Question... Do I post it here or under the Wrenching party topic?? Also should I post it as a run on the AZVJC website ?? Please reply so I can get this rolling, thx

I would suggest posting in both areas as they both apply.

Before Christmas we discussed the idea of a tech workshop for people wanting to hook up lights and minor elec parts the right way... We have two tech experts who have offered to help... Time got away from me so I have not posted anything or selected a time or place....

Question... Is there still interest in this? My thought would be to help people wire up lights or any other electrical toys and PROPERLY install the switches, relays, breakers or anything else needed to avoid Car-b-que's

Please reply to this with ideas, suggestions, questions, etc.

Thanks, Bob J

Still interested, Bob. Just let me know when.

Would like someone to look over my rocklight install. I have purchased a relay, but haven't wired it in yet.

As far as location, you maight want to ask people that are interested where they are from? East/West. East side (Gilbert/Mesa) for me.

I'm interested. I'd like to wire up some rock lights. I'm in Gilbert and can host the workshop here (I've got lots of parking room) but we'd need someone with expertise to lead it.

My only possible conflict is my daughters 4th birthday on 4/16 which is a Friday (unless her mom decides to do a party on the weekend). I'll try and get specifics in the event I end up hosting this event. If someone else does, plan for whatever works best for the majority and if I can't make it I'll make the next one.

Thanks for the offer but I think we are already covered that way.. We have three available spots in the east valley.. I just want to discuss the pros and cons with the other guys that have volunteered to do this with me... I should have this posted up by tomorrow... I hope ! Thanks, Bob J

Please see the AZVJC website for information on the Wiring Clinic. It will be held on Sunday, April 25th beginning at 9:00 am at Kyrene and Chandler Blvd in Chandler. Daystar Dan and John with Hunter Offroad will be offering their technical expertise. Note that they will be helping direct the attendees as to how to do wiring, they will not be doing the work on your vehicles. It will be up to the attendees to bring all materials and tools that will be needed. This includes wire, tape, snapties, relays, and anything else you might need. I will identify a close place to buy parts and find out if it will be open on Sunday. I will post this info up shortly. Please post your attendance status on the website. Thanks, Bob J

I posted the wiring clinic about a week ago and only have two signups.... I will monitor this for another week and if there is little response we may decide to kill it... What has happened to the group? There seems to be very little discussion anymore, at least on the BBS.... I am not monitoring yahoogroups because I am unable to get back on at the office.... We have no filters or anything, I just can't get it to work. Is the BBS dead and everything and body back to the Yahoogroups??? Or is the az vjc just going away? I see no posts on land use, legal battles, etc. I asked this a couple weeks ago and got no response... It's sad if that's the case...

I'll be there also. Perhaps you could have a sign up on this forum. I quit monitoring the Yahoo! group because I would get 100+ e-mails a day, most of them with the content of "LOL", or "I agree", and I, like many others I assume, don't have time for all that.

yeah, that's the reason I haven't followed yahoogroups anymmore either... BUT, has most of the group stayed or returned to yahoogroups??? Because there doesn't seem to be much activity here anymore...

I don't think there is a way to post it on the BBS that accepts signups.. If there is a way, I don't know it...Please advise, Bob J

I'll be attending. Any suggestions on what type of rock lights. Voltage, size, Bracketry. Who has the best selection and prices. How many lights are adequate for maximum effect. And any other input that would be helpful. Just moved out here, and have no idea what works or doesnt work on the rocks at night.

It's a Sunday, plan is to start about 10:00 am. Location is Daystar Dan's Driveway. He and John w/Hunter Offroad are the tech experts holding it, I am sure any one with knowledge will be welcome to come and help. Please sign up on Website where I will be posting names, addresses and itineraries (sp). I don't want to post much specifics here due to privacy issues and to create confusion on info so it will be posted on the AZVJC Website... Any questions, call me on cell @ 602-481-1518 Bob J

Next Sunday is the Wiring Clinic... I have recieved a few emails questioning what will be happening... Here it is:

Our two experts, John w/Hunter Offroad and Daystar Dan will be directing the attendees using a "show and tell" format to proper wiring techniques for adding electrical accessories to their jeeps. We will not have any parts, including, but not limited to, Wire, Relays, Switches, Connectors, brackets, lights, tools, fasteners, ties, etc...

My suggestion would be to have your accessories, including, but not limited to, Rock lights, Driving lights, trail lights, CB radio, winch, accessory lights, etc; hard mounted to your jeep. Bring with you things that you may need to complete the wiring process, tools and materials, see above...We may or may not have the time for you to complete your install, however, you will leave the clinic with the newfound knowledge to complete your install correctly and safely !

This is such a varried clinic that you may want to take more time later to install things exactly the way you want them and therefore would be better off just bringing everything with you, listening and questioning the experts and picking the brains of all the attendees, and then doing your own install later. I'm sure that you can still get individual answers later by calling John or Dan or anyone else that you may meet here. There will be a lot of experienced people here that might give you a better idea as to where and how to mount your lights and accessories, in other words, what will work best on the trail. For example, we don't want to keep everyone standing around while one person completely disassembles his dashboard and console to locate his switches and then wants to take his time precisely cutting out things with his dremel tool, install them and reassemble his entire interior.. I'm not trying to be a smartaleck but, conversely, you don't want to feel rushed if you want to do some very precise locating, cutting and wiring on your jeep ! That is what I am planning to do Sunday because I want to do some precision locating on both of my jeeps!

The primary purpose of the Clinic has been stated as preventing future
"car-b-ques" or better yet, "jeep-b-ques". The knowledge gained at this clinic will go a long way helping to prevent these!

I will post the address of the clinic on the AZVJC website due to privacy issues here. It is near the intersection of Kyrene and Chandler Blvd in Chandler. From other parts of the valley, take the loop 101 south from the 60 or the 202, exit at Chandler Blvd, go left (East) to Kyrene.

Thanks for reading this long and drawn out post, I think that it answers most of the questions that have arisen. I look forward to seeing you all there next Sunday morning at 9:00 am!

Just a suggestion, but maybe you would want to come learn what you want to do before purchasing things you don't need...Learn first, buy and install later ?

Or,

You may want to gather info from people throughout this week, so you will have what you want figured out by next Sunday ?

Great clinic, thanks to those who planned and took the time to teach.

I was trying to locate a distribution block, like what was in the XJ, but couldn't find one. Where was that one purchased?

Thanks again.
