Subject: Sycamore Creek DUMP!
Just got back from Sycamore Creek. Went from upper to lower. SOME
STUPID F*%K dumped an older model Volvo and torched it! I run this
area almost every weekend. It happened sometime between last Sunday
and today. I was wondering if anyone had a trailer and or resources
to help drag that thing out of there. Its up past Squeeze Rock at the
bottom of the Quartz mountain. I know its close to Christmas and
everyones busy but theres already enough junk out there from the
shooters. And the car is right on the main trail up from lower
Sycamore. I have never done a recovery of a vehicle like this so I
would need some help. Tons of people use this area and Id hate to see
it get shut down. Im down for workin on this Sunday, Monday and
Tuesday...Wednesday for most of the morning and EVEN Thursday if
anyone is willing to help (or lend a trailer). Let me know if you can
help in any way.

Just a word of caution, be very carefull moving such vehicles, as it
was probably stolen. If you can, get the VIN and give it to the
Sheriff to see if it is stolen or not, then organize the clean up or
removal. If it is stolen and you are in "possession" of it, well, you
get the idea.
Just my 2 cents on the subject.

Yep, most likely it was stolen but the law enforcement and/or land
management agencies have no way to remove these vehicles and have been
very appreciative of our help. No problem in helping the land agencies
"clean up" abandoned vehicles........... Sycamore is on Tonto National
Forest so simply call Tammy Pike at 602.225.5235 and tell her about it.
A VIN is important if you can get it.
We have hauled countless vehicles out of the Table Mesa area for years.
I simply call the Phoenix BLM and the Maricopa Sheriff. They take
whatever information we can supply and tell us to go ahead and remove
it. There have been several vehicles we've had to literally "cut" apart
to get out.............
It is important to notify someone because this is the only way they can
get a "stolen vehicle" off their lists and notification to the insurance
companies.

Thanks for the info. I was planning on heading out there tomorrow to
check on that. I didnt have anything to write with while i was out
there today. They should be able to get that info right away right?
Also would we have to wait to move it (like abandoned vehicle title
rights)? I was going to stop by the sheriffs office to see about it
being stolen so i guess i can ask them too.

Also what can be done with the vehicle once its out. If its abandoned
or stolen does it need to be turned over? Can it be taken to a bone
yard? Would I have to pay to have someone crush it?

Law enforcement simply want "VIN and vehicle identification" for
insurance purposes and their "lists" of open cases. Some salvage yards
didn't want to mess with it so you'll have to call around. I don't
remember who has been used recently..........

Subject: [TR] Gas Pipeline Trail - Sunday, December 21, 2003
Hello All,Jeff Schultz is leading a Gas Pipeline Trail trail run on Sunday, December 21, 2003.

When: Sunday morning at 9AM.
Where: East side of I-17 at the Table Mesa Rd exit, we will then continue to the trail head further up I-17.
Rating: 3.0
Length: approx 3 hrs.
CB Channel: 4
Roger Tomas is going to be leading a trip down the Pipeline trail along I-17 from New River south to Table Mesa Road.
The pipeline trail is a nice trail that should take 2~3 hours to run, depending on how many vehicles you have. There are two notable obstacles, the first one being a steep downhill (with a bypass to the right). The 2nd is the tunnel that you must pass through under the north bound freeway lane. When exiting the tunnel, you will drop about 3' to the trail. Some rocks have been stacked up to help make a ramp. You will have to climb over a few good sized rocks as you leave the immediate area. The remainder of the trail to Table Mesa Road is more of the typical up and down hills that you did prior to the tunnel. This can be run by a stock vehicle (might need a tow), but a little lift and taller tires will make the tunnel exit much easier.

Ya, its going around, that time of year again. Well, got a call
yesterday at work and my wife said she just got into
a big accident. I threw everything down and drove over to Broadway
and Gilbert and there it was...my wifes Honda was T-boned by a prick
with no insurance, drivers license and no way of knowing if he was
lying about his name and address. My wife was turning left and he ran
the red light going 45mph. The Honda is a gonner and luckily the wife
and my daughter were not seriously hurt. Some bumps and bruises. The
only funny thing about this accident is, is it was his B-day :o)
Happy fu@kin' birthday!!(hahahahaha). Four accidents and every single
one of them no insurance..I'm so tired of this state and the
illegals. (am I ranting enough?) I'm just a little PO'd. His car was
a total loss, pushed in about 3 feet and his girlfriend was sent to
the hospital. My wife and daughter went to ER but was released and
are doing fine. Just a quick reminder to buckle up during the
Holidays. There are a lot of idiots out there that dont care. Merry
X-mas. Jeff CamoXJ

Subject: [TR] Lake Pleasant to Crown King - Sunday, December 21, 2003
Hello All,Dennis Chamberlain is leading a Lake Pleasant to Crown King trail run on Sunday, December 21, 2003.

When: Sunday the 21st of December at 7:30 to 8:00 AM
Where: Junction of the Carefree Hwy and 99th Ave. about 10 miles from the turn off to Lake Pleasant
Rating: 3.0-
Length: 4-6 Hrs
CB Channel: 4
Have a couple of my military buddies that would like to test their off-road vehicles (both trucks). I am always bragging on Jeeps so I would love to have a couple of Jeeps join me. I know it is a late post so I don't expect anyone, but some other members are welcome.

Contact me via cell phone 623-451-9656 or email at dennis1976@c...
The Lake Pleasang to Crown King trail is a local favorite. On any given weekend, there will be numerous groups of four wheelers, ATV's and motorcycles heading to and from Crown King. It is a fun and scenic trail into the cooler pines of the Bradshaws. This trail was the first trip ever done by AzVJC.
The trail takes off from the Castle Hotsprings Rd and travels through the foot hills and up the side of the mountain, giving nice views of Lake Pleasant and the Valley. There are some tougher optional sections that can make it interesting.
The trail goes through the old ghost towns of Fort Misery and Oro Belle, both of which are remnants of the Mining era of the Bradshaw Mountains. All that remains now, are foundations and a few crumbling walls. Fort Misery makes a nice place to stop and eat lunch as the small creek usually has running water and there are trees to provide shade.
In the winter months, the trail from Fort Misery through Oro Belle to Crown King will often have snow and/or ice. In the summer, an early start is necessary to stay ahead of the rising temperatures.
Once on top of the mountain, the trail runs through the cool pines and into Crown King. In Crown King there are places to eat and have a drink, and a general store that sells some excellent fudge.
There are campgrounds on top of the mountain near Crown King for those wishing to stay overnight. The fastest way down is via the main road which leads through Cleator and toward Bumble Bee. You can split off and go through Cordes Junction, which will get you to the Freeway quicker, or keep going strait and go through the little town of Bumble Bee.
Alternatively, you can take the Senator Highway toward Prescott or Mayer, this can be a very interesting trail during snow season. If you have the time, follow Towers Mountain rd through Crown King and up to the top of Towers Mountain, there are some excellent views and you can join back up with the Senator Highway afterward.
Have fun, remember to bring water and your camera.
Enjoy, and remember to TREAD Lightly!

I saw a Warn A2000 winch for sale for what seems like a reasonable price. I run a FSJ (80 Wagoneer) and I'm looking for something to start me out with at a economical price. Is this too small for a full size jeep...would it be a good deal if say I could get it for $200? How much would mounting hardware run me, and am I asking too many questions?

The A2000 is an ATV winch rated at a max 2500 lbs. Far too light for
your rig. You typically want a winch rated at least twice your
vehicle wieght for self-recovery. Most Jeeps are fine with an 8000
lb winch as they weigh less than 4000 lbs. Your Wagoneer would be
better suited with a 10000 or 12000 lb winch. Keep looking and
expect to pay anywhere from $400-$800 for a decent used winch.

Just my 2 cents on the subject.

very appreciative of our help.
It is important to notify someone because this is the only way they can
get a "stolen vehicle" off their lists and notification to the insurance
companies.

Subject: Wife just got into accident....Buckle up!
Merry
X-mas. Jeff CamoXJ

Glad to hear that everyone was ok Jeff. I hear you on the uninsured

If its a big hassle moving it, maybe you can do what you can to get
it up by the highway. It wont sit there for long and you'll still be
doing your part to keep our lands clean.
Good Luck!

Subject: Warn A2000 Winch
I saw a Warn A2000 winch for sale for what seems like a reasonable price. I run a FSJ (80 Wagoneer) and I'm looking for something to start me out with at a economical price. Is this too small for a full size jeep...would it be a good deal if say I could get it for $200? How much would mounting hardware run me, and am I asking too many questions?
Thanks for your input! (if you reply)
