I'm looking at a '90 Cherokee for my son. Test drove it and only anomaly was oil pressure at about 75 psi. Anybody have experience with high oil pressure? Owner says it comes down a little after being warm...but still over 60 psi.

Mike,

Sorry that I don't remember all the details of your problem. But since
the vibes have stopped with the removal of your drive shaft, it seems to
indicate one of two things.

1. Your pinion angle is wrong and causing the vibes.

2. Your drive shaft is bent or not balanced.

I've had both of these issues on my TJ in the past. I can't tell you
which one you have.

anyone ever had a problem like this or has an idea where I should
start looking.

Where:
Rating: 2.5+
Length: All day
CB Channel: 8

This is the Second Annual AZVJC Toys For Tots toy collection (we hope to make this an annual event.) This year we are going to have it where we were supposed to have it last time, at the Jamboree campground. Actually, we'll be right at the gate entrance off of SR79. We won't be leading any runs or providing any food this time (sorry). All we ask is for a new unwapped gift. If anyone out there wants to lead a run,I need to know buy the 29th of NOV.I still need leaders as of 11-19-03 Thanks!!!
We will also have a Toys For Tots drop off box at the BBQ for people who can not make the run.

Martinez Cabin is a wonderful trail for the "new" 4-wheeler with his stock vehicle and family.
This trail will take you into Martinez Canyon which has to be one of the most beautiful canyons in the area, in league with Sedona red bluffs!!
You can have lunch under the Cottonwood trees at the old homestead and you may explore the old mill.
Hey all,
I finally got the funds together to get the SYE for the Jeep (97 TJ Sahara w/ 3" Black Diamond Lift). I am looking at getting the Heavy Duty setup from maby Advanced Adapters, Curry, or other. I was wondering what advise you all have about a particular brand (price, good instructions, service, local availability). I also have previously secured a new chrome molly drive shaft w/ double cartagan joints (courtesy od Bill Aylesworth), but it will need to be shortened (I believe). Any recommendations on where to get that done as well.
I know that we have been through this several times before, but it's finally my turn to get hooked up with one, and I know all the groups advise last go around was great, I just don't remember what it was. :)

Thanks in advance,

Allen,

It is rare that you hear of anyone breaking the heavy duty SYEs.
Likewise, I've not heard any bad remarks about the various brands of HD
SYEs. I know a lot of folks use the Advanced Adapters brand. I have
one on my TJ.

Jason LaLiberty at www.4x4groupbuy.com carries the AA SYEs. He may have
others also. Give him a yell and see what he can do for you.

Toys by Troy installed my AA this summer when the long arm lift went on.
I don't know if you are installing it yourself or having it done by a
4x4 shop.

Good luck on getting everything done....sounds like a nice Christmas
present for your Jeep!

Subject: Re: slipping/shaking problem

If you have a standard transmission, it *could* mean that your clutch is
ready to be replaced. I had a similar problem in my Jeep a while back, and
it turned out to be a bad surface on the flywheel. Parts of the flywheel
had become glazed, which meant that the clutch plate couldn't engage
smoothly - it *always* chattered in 1st or reverse. In the higher gears,
when I pushed the clutch pedal in-and-out quickly, it didn't have time to
chatter. It only happened when I was starting up and was trying to
"feather" the clutch for a smooth start from a stop.

If this is the cause, I'm not sure why it would only happen in 2wd, but
it's a possibility. It probably would be less likely to happen in low
range, though, because you're not trying to get the wheels turning as fast
as in high range.

Just a thought...

Allen,

I have the AA HD SYE on both my YJ and now my TJ and I have not had any
problems with them. However, there are many other brands that I have heard
good things about as well.

Same some $$ for the holidays and do the install yourself. Make sure you
have a "GOOD" set of snap ring pliers.

As far as getting your driveshaft shortened, several local shops can do
that. My experience has been limited to:
AZ Drivelines (http://www.arizonadrivelines.com/) and Dick's Driveshaft
(http://www.dicksdriveshaft.com/).

Dick's is hit or miss (IMO). I have had better service/quality from AZ
Drivelines.

Good Luck.

You might want to use this opportunity to replace your 3 speed with
a 4 speed T-18 which has a nice 6.32:1 granny low gear which will
greatly increase your crawl ratio. Check out this chart for (among
other things) Jeep transmission gear ratios.

Matt,
What a great webpage! Do you know if the T-18/T18A would bolt up to
the Dana 20 xfer case w/o an adapter? And would I need to change the
driveshafts? From your chart, it looks the T-18 would be acceptable,
but not the T-18A which has the 6.32:1 ratio. Although even the T-18
has a lower first gear than the T-15.
Thanks again for the info . . . .
