This is the Second Annual AZVJC Toys For Tots toy collection (we hope to make this an annual event.) This year we are going to have it where we were supposed to have it last time, at the Jamboree campground. Actually, we'll be right at the gate entrance off of SR79. We won't be leading any runs or providing any food this time (sorry). All we ask is for a new unwapped gift. If anyone out there wants to lead a run,I need to know buy the 29th of NOV.I still need leaders as of 11-19-03 Thanks!!!<br>
We will also have a Toys For Tots drop off box at the BBQ for people who can not make the run.
Martinez Cabin is a wonderful trail for the "new" 4-wheeler with his stock vehicle and family.<br>
<br>
This trail will take you into Martinez Canyon which has to be one of the most beautiful canyons in the area, in league with Sedona red bluffs!! <br>
<br>
You can have lunch under the Cottonwood trees at the old homestead and you may explore the old mill.<br>
<br>
Stock vehicle, stock tires and novice drivers, this would be a wonderful trail for you!!<br>

This is one of the trails that we will be doing for the TOYS FOR TOTS run. The leader of this run will be <br>
Steve James. (Thanks Steve!)
Lower Ajax wash crosses and continues along portions of the road to the Ajax Mine. It is the typical "wash;" for the most part you cross over and around the rock obstacles. There are a few 2 - 4 ft. waterfalls or narrow rock areas to find your way over or through but there are several by-passes. The wash is set among the rolling hills below the Ajax Mine.<br>
<br>
This trail is fun and a challenge for the moderate 4-wheeler, although this trail is not for the inexperienced driver nor a stock vehicle.<br>
<br>
A rear Traction Device, and 31" + tires are required..<br>

This is one of the trails that we will be running on <br>
Dec.6th The Leader for this run will be Tom Jacobson.(Thanks Tom!)
Jack Handle is a nice but fairly short loop trail that has a number of challenging obstacles. It starts out in a fairly flat wash. It then winds around as the trail gets tighter and tighter.<br>
<br>
There are a few small waterfalls and many table sized boulders to navigate along the way, including a fairly narrow slot that you have to scramble up. This slot makes it a very tight squeeze for full size vehicles (and probably not advisable). The trail can be run in about 2 hours or so.<br>
<br>
The first guy to run this trail didn't see one boulder and ended up using his jack handle as a temporary tie rod to finish the trail so keep your eyes open along the way. When you think you at the end, the trail juts up out on the wash and gives you a view of the whole area. Then you are in for a few roller coasters and a steep drop back to where you started.<br>
<br>
This is not a trail to be tried unless you are an experienced 4-wheeler with a well equipped vehicle. High clearance and some traction devices are required. Water and your camera are a must.<br>

DaimlerChrysler Heads to Court Over '98 Merger
By DANNY HAKIM
Published: November 28, 2003 - NY Times
--------------------------------
DETROIT, Nov. 26 - Five years after Daimler-Benz acquired Chrysler to
create DaimlerChrysler AG, the deal will go on trial, beginning Monday,
in a Wilmington, Del., federal courtroom.
Not since John and Horace Dodge sued Henry Ford in 1916 have such
prominent shareholders confronted a captain of the auto industry in
court.
In one corner will be Kirk Kerkorian, the billionaire Las Vegas casino
operator and the largest shareholder of the premerger Chrysler. Mr.
Kerkorian is suing DaimlerChrysler because he contends company officials
misrepresented the 1998 transaction as a "merger of equals" that would
lead to two semiautonomous companies, one German and one American.
Instead, he says, DaimlerChrysler has become a German company and the
struggling Chrysler division is run by executives dispatched from
DaimlerChrysler's corporate headquarters in Stuttgart.
In the other corner will be the mastermind of the deal, Jürgen E.
Schrempp, the chairman of DaimlerChrysler. He is being compelled to
testify by a recent court ruling.
A major piece of evidence will be an audiotape of a 2000 interview that
Mr. Schrempp gave to The Financial Times of London. In the article based
on the interview, Mr. Schrempp is quoted as saying that he never
intended the deal to be a merger of equals; his company's lawyer said
his comments were misconstrued.
Postmerger hangovers have loomed over many prominent combinations, most
notably America Online's acquisition of Time Warner, which is now known
as Time Warner Inc. But rarely has there been an opportunity to turn
back the clock and relive the deal with all of the major players.
Among the current and former executives due to appear as witnesses are
Robert J. Eaton, the former Chrysler chairman who for a time shared the
chief executive's office at DaimlerChrysler with Mr. Schrempp. The
merger personally enriched him by tens of millions of dollars but left
some people in Detroit with hard feelings about his role in the deal.
Terry Christensen, Mr. Kerkorian's lawyer, said Chrysler's board was
told at the time that "it was a merger of equals and that the governance
of the company would be split equally, between Daimler-Benz and
Chrysler."
Now, he added, "it looks like a company basically run by Daimler-Benz
people out of Stuttgart."
Mr. Kerkorian is seeking $1 billion to $2 billion in compensatory
damages, Mr. Christensen said.
By calling the deal a merger, he added, "they were able to dodge the
necessary takeover premium that is routinely paid in these transactions.
That should have been paid to shareholders in 1998, and that's what he's
seeking now."
Mr. Kerkorian tried unsuccessfully to take over Chrysler in 1995, but
did win representation on its board. DaimlerChrysler's officials have
said Mr. Kerkorian was a savvy man who well understood the deal and even
pushed for it.
"He is a big boy," said J. Michael Schell, the lead lawyer for
DaimlerChrysler. "He had a huge investment here. He's had investments in
other companies. He's had experience with hostile takeovers and forcing
his way on boards, including Chrysler's itself. He's been around all of
the corporate games in the last 20 years, and he had eyes and ears on
the Chrysler board in addition to his sophistication."
DaimlerChrysler has also accused Mr. Kerkorian's side of destroying
notes about the merger exchanged between Mr. Eaton and Mr. Kerkorian.
Mr. Kerkorian's side has said that DaimlerChrysler's $300 million
settlement in August of a class-action lawsuit filed by disgruntled
investors over similar claims about the representation of the merger
puts the company on the defensive.
In the 1990's, Chrysler was on a roll and turned in record earnings with
a management team creating distinctive vehicles. News of the transaction
with Daimler-Benz stunned many people in Detroit.
Could Mr. Schrempp and Mr. Eaton really put a kindly face on the union
of corporate giants and accomplish the "merger of equals" that they
promised?
"Everybody was astonished by the announcement, and people were
apprehensive about the situation from the beginning," said David Lewis,
an automotive historian and professor at the University of Michigan in
Ann Arbor.
"Suddenly, we didn't know whether we should be referring to the Big
Three or the Big Two, or the Big Two-and-a-half," he added. "It took a
while for the realization to soak in that this was a German company."
Other people in the Detroit area, notably Stephen P. Yokich, the late
president of the United Auto Workers union, said Chrysler, the smallest
of the Big Three, needed help.
"There wouldn't be a Chrysler today if there wasn't a Daimler with a
fatter purse than we have with Chrysler in Michigan," Mr. Yokich said at
a news conference in 2001, according to Reuters.
Since the merger, Chrysler's profits have vanished, and the combination
has been criticized on Wall Street. At the end of 1998,
DaimlerChrysler's stock was trading at more than $100 a share. On Jan.
7, 1999, the shares closed at just under $108. This past March, the
price fell to just under $27. On Wednesday, it closed at $38.22 on the
New York Stock Exchange. [The markets were closed yesterday in
observance of Thanksgiving.]
In October, Standard & Poor's cut DaimlerChrysler's debt rating to BBB,
which is the second lowest of 10 investment grades - two notches above a
junk rating. S. & P.'s also has a negative outlook on the company.
The problem? Chrysler.
"Although DaimlerChrysler continues to be well positioned in the global
luxury and commercial vehicle markets, the risks posed by Chrysler have
a significant effect on the overall credit profile of DaimlerChrysler,"
Maria Bissinger, a Standard & Poor's credit analyst, said in a
statement.
The division has been hemorrhaging market share despite its
participation in Detroit's price war. Three years into a turnaround
plan, Dieter Zetsche, the former Mercedes executive who is now the chief
executive of the Chrysler group of DaimlerChrysler, has yet to prove the
division can contribute profits. This month, he barnstormed Chrysler
dealers and the media in a bid to get people excited about a wave of
products making their debuts next year.
The trial is expected to last much of December.
So who won one of the last times such titans met?
The Dodge brothers. They sued Henry Ford because he had cut Ford Motor's
dividends and used the money to invest in new plants. The Dodges, who
then owned about 10 percent of Ford, wanted to use the proceeds to
finance an auto company bearing their name. Mr. Ford argued in court
that business was about more than enriching shareholders, but about
creating jobs and making products at a decent price.
"Ford lost," said Mr. Lewis, the historian. "On the other hand, he
gained tremendously in public popularity."
The Dodge brothers built their own company, now a division of
DaimlerChrysler.

Well you will need 16s that is for shure. Rick Beer has a set of mtrs
245x75x16 same as 31's that would work good if there is enough room
for them on there. 15" rims will not fit on the front. I tried on a

As with many of the Arizona trails, Predator is not long in length, but it definitely doesn't lack anything for the ultimate 4x4 challenge. There are 2 - 4 foot rock ledges; ledges to straddle; rocks to get over or around and there is a good chance to do some body damage.<br>

<br>
This trail will take you into Martinez Canyon which has to be one of the most beautiful canyons in the area, in league with Sedona red bluffs!! <br>
<br>
You can have lunch under the Cottonwood trees at the old homestead and you may explore the old mill.<br>
<br>
Stock vehicle, stock tires and novice drivers, this would be a wonderful trail for you!!<br>

<br>
This trail is fun and a challenge for the moderate 4-wheeler, although this trail is not for the inexperienced driver nor a stock vehicle.<br>
<br>

<br>
There are a few small waterfalls and many table sized boulders to navigate along the way, including a fairly narrow slot that you have to scramble up. This slot makes it a very tight squeeze for full size vehicles (and probably not advisable). The trail can be run in about 2 hours or so.<br>
<br>
<br>

The Dodge brothers built their own company, now a division of
DaimlerChrysler.

anyone know of any problems I might encounter doing this?

Dan Dennis lives in Havasu, he should respond to ya. He was at my
house in Chandler yesterday (t-giving) and was heading home that
night. If he doesn't respond, I will forward this to him.

Well you will need 16s that is for shure. Rick Beer has a set of mtrs
245x75x16 same as 31's that would work good if there is enough room
for them on there. 15" rims will not fit on the front. I tried on a
friends.

My supply of AZVJC "courtesy business" cards went fast. I got them at

have a .png or something that I can give to Kinko's Copy so I can have a
whole bunch made up?

Hello All,Todd Ahern is leading a Predator trail run on Saturday, November 29, 2003.<br><br>When:

Rating: 4.5+
Length:
CB Channel: 4
As with many of the Arizona trails, Predator is not long in length, but it definitely doesn't lack anything for the ultimate 4x4 challenge. There are 2 - 4 foot rock ledges; ledges to straddle; rocks to get over or around and there is a good chance to do some body damage.<br>
<br>
It is a favorite but does require a fully locked vehicle, lifted and modified and driven by an experienced driver.<br>
<br>
It is an all day trail; bring lunch and,of course, plenty of water and your camera.<br>
<br>

i have only done predator and judgement day so i am game for anything new.<br>

let's ROCKKKKKK
Lower Terminator was the first of the Terminator Trails.<br>
<br>
You will find the infamous "White Line" and "Terminator" obstacles on this trail. While both spots certainly have the potential to "Terminate" your vehicle, they will definitely grab your attention.<br>
<br>
You will go over, around, straddle and tip on the rocks on this trail; you will find yourself off-camber and wonder why you're doing this, but will love it. It is an awesome trail with numerous play areas and very few bypasses.<br>
<br>
Clearance and Lockers are a must, 33" tires a minimum and experienced drivers a must.<br>

I have a handful leftover from the freeway opening. If you're near
Gilbert, you can stop by my home or we can meet somewhere.
Mike Fissel designed and printed them so he'd have the softcopy
template. Maybe he can print off another batch? If so, we should
reimburse him something for materials at least, and probably for the
time he's spent/spends doing the work.
