The trick is not to skin your knuckles getting all the other crap off
before you can get to the water pump. =P

Subject: [TR] Trip Report - Technical Workshop - Sunday, November 16, 2003

Hello All,
Joe West lead a trail run Sunday, November 16, 2003 across Technical Workshop

21 more rigs with kill switches installed...<br>
<br>
We started at 8am and by noon, everyone had finished the install and my front yard was back to normal.<br>
<br>
We only had two problems during the entire workshop; one switch was broken by a father who shall remain nameless... and one solder joint broke causing about 30 minutes of troubleshooting before it was located.<br>
<br>
All in all it was an outstanding class... everyone helped everyone else out and worked together as a team.<br>
<br>
Dennis, Purple, and Kelly walked away with new butane soldering irons from Radio Shack (we raffled these off to the straglers who remained up to the last moment).<br>
<br>
A big thanks to everyone who showed up... I can't think of a neater way to spend a beautiful weekend morning than hanging out with Jeepers!<br>

What kind do you use?
What is required?
Anyone have one for sale?

Thanks.

agve $40.00 for them from bestbuy they came with nicad batteries desktop
charger 12 volt cord cases and ear bud headphones.they last a long time
to,we took them on a trip up to springerville with two cars the trip was
about 51/2 hours and they worked great even through the trees.hope this will

Speaking of kill switches... Check out the writeup on this page for a
completely hidden kill switch:

(on the bottom left, under Theft Protection)

Looks pretty cool.

Jon finished up his '85 Cherokee project Friday afternoon. Turns out the

runs smoothly and is working well.

Now the kid wants to SELL it!

hoses, belt etc. 4-speed, 4x4 Dana 30 & 35, 3.73 ratios. White with blue
vinyl interior. Good AM/FM CD Player. 40% tread on 215/75/15 tires on
15x6 stock steel wheels. No club sticker yet, clear title though. Very
clean. Will sell for $900 firm.

Might be good student transportation / first vehicle.

Welding supply stores sell plastic tubes to store welding rods in, but
you can probably get by with a large zip-loc bag and keeping them in
a dry place like the back of a closet. Refrigerators are pretty humid.

well Jim, Most shops have a oven for their welding rod storage. The
key is to keep moisture out of them. Someplace moisture free, maybe
plastic bag with a moisture absorbing can.

Hows everyone doing? I have a question that a friend asked me today
that I didn't have the answer to. He has a 03 Rubicon and wants to
put a K&N air systems in. He asked what type of protection those
systems had. The stock version has an air filter that is protected
from the elements. The air system by K&N is exposed on all sides.
Do they make a housing that would protect the filter like the stock
version? Hope that someone can help with thisminer problem.
Another question that he asked. Would it void his warranty by
jeep? Does anybody how high a jeep can be lifted before it voids
the warranty as well?

Where's a good place to buy those silica gel packs? You could use those
and a hermetically sealed bag to keep your welding rods dry.

Length: 6 hrs

we are thinking of running upper ajax or any other trail of like rating. any suggestions are cool. another option could be to run upper woodpecker and then H2H...and upper ajax if time. <br>

lets ROCKKKKKKKKKK

Upper Ajax is one waterfall after another. It gets very interesting when wet but it is always a challenge for the best built vehicle. It doesn't seem to feel the negative side of "rock stacking;" ramps keep showing up but the waterfalls don't seem to change. Most often you will have a spectator gallery from the main road up above the wash. <br>
<br>
This is a fairly short trail in length but always seems to keep you busy most of the day. Body damage is a possibility. Don't forget your lunch, water, camera and spare parts.<br>

A lot of people don't like the K&N or any system that uses the round
bell-shaped filter for that very reason. I have a K&N FIPK kit on my 4.0 YJ
and use a prefilter when I'm on the trail. When on the road, keep it clean
and oiled as indicated by the K&N instructions and you'll probably still
keep most/all the bad stuff out of your engine. I don't believe K&N or
anyone else makes an enclosed version, however he could get a drop in K&N
filter for his stock box. The performance benefits wouldn't be as noticeable
but it's probably a good way to make sure he's keeping the dust out.

Another great clinic , with a bunch of great guys ! Thanks to Rick , Smitty

EVEN I couldn't get my Jeep started . At least until I remembered : " DUH ,
I HAVE A KILL SWITCH NOW ...." and turned it off . I'm bringing my Super
Duty ( with AZVJC sticker )to the next clinic .
Love my butane soldering iron/torch . Can't wait to go out and torch/solder
the neighborhood ......
Thanks again,

21 more rigs with kill switches installed...

We started at 8am and by noon, everyone had finished the install and my
front yard was back to normal.

We only had two problems during the entire workshop; one switch was
broken by a father who shall remain nameless... and one solder joint
broke causing about 30 minutes of troubleshooting before it was located.

All in all it was an outstanding class... everyone helped everyone else
out and worked together as a team.

Dennis, Purple, and Kelly walked away with new butane soldering irons
from Radio Shack (we raffled these off to the straglers who remained up
to the last moment).

A big thanks to everyone who showed up... I can't think of a neater way
to spend a beautiful weekend morning than hanging out with Jeepers!
