No knobs on a '98 except for the fan speed control.

The vent positions are controlled via vacuum. Yours is most likely not
working. Time to pull the front of the dash off and start poking
around. No real guarantee on what specific thing has broken.

I would be willing to bet that the inside of the plastic knob is broken
and
spinning on the metal shaft.
Pull the knob off and have a look, I think they are about 6-7 bucks at
the
stealerships.
Happened to my 99 and I have seen numerous reports about it on this
board.

Jeff:

Either that ore maybe seal the "root holes" with a thin concrete?

Also, probably don't need to warn you, but be careful digging, you don't
want to shovel right into your gas or water line. =)

As for the water, it could just be going into the water table. You see
pumps all over Phoenix pumping groundwater out of the water table
(natural underground water) into the above-ground canals.

Subject: AZVJC high resolution logo for cards?

I met someone yesterday with a Jeep and mentioned AZVJC to them. They
asked for a card and I didn't have one so I had to fumble around to
find some paper and a pen to write the address down for them. I NEED
CARDS!

I'm going to have some general AZVJC cards printed that simply show
the logo, URL and a brief description of what we are so I can hand
them out when I see Jeep people here in town who are interested. Two
questions:

1) Does anyone have a high resolution AZVJC logo I can use for
printing

2) Is anyone else interested in joining in to buy a handful of cards
(cheap)?

As many of you know, sometimes an extra 500 cards or so costs very
little money so the more people who are interested, the cheaper it
becomes for everyone interested.

Subject: Jeep @ Chaparral Suites in Scottsdale

Over the weekend (Saturday night) I saw a sweet jeep in the parking
lot of Chaparral Suites hotel. It was a Blue or Green TJ sport. ARB
lockers, looked like TBT front, rear, and rocker guards, currie
antirock, warn up front, Yokohama MTs, warn diff guards/truss. This
jeep was sweet. Anyhow, to whomever owns this rig its a monster.
Every jeepers dream!!!! Hope you didnt mind me droolin all over it.

Well there wasnt a lot of new Jeep stuff this year at SEMA, last
year was the big long arm boom so there were a lot of Jeep displays.
About the newest thing there this year was a couple Libertys done up
with 35" tires. One was a complete custom coil over deal and the
other was a simple 4" kit and minor fender trimming to fit the 35s.
They had a Dodge Hemi stuffed in a TJ... that was pretty sweet!
Teraflex is now in the selectable locker business making a locker
for the 30, 35, 44 and 60 with a GM locker in the lineup next year.
They are using an air actuator. Everything inside the pumpkin is
mechanical and the air actuator is on the ouside protected by the
built in skid plate on the diff cover. The diff cover comes with the
locker like the ox, and is priced around $1,000! Speaking of OX
there was a company there that had OX stickers at their display so I
had to inquire about the fate of the OX locker. Apparently one of
the OX buyouts fell through, now a susidiary of this company owns a
company that owns OX. Huh? I know I got confused also, but here is
the bottom line. The OX is alive and well and will have the new
website up soon!! Other then that there were the typical custom
trucks, lowered cars and all that jazz. I have a few pics up on my
website so you can check them out. There arent a lot of pics because
I was too busy stuffing my backpack full of stickers, pens, hats, t-
shirts and all that good stuff! -Rob

Subject: [Tech] 2003 TJ - 35c Powertrax

My Jeep has 4.56 gears and I had a Powertrax in my 35c. I read many articles saying the Powertrax worked super and you couldn't tell it was there on the street. Don't believe it. ANY locker on the street will make your rig handle funny. I broke and axle a few weeks ago right where the splines enter the Powertrax. There were many witnesses who said the axle never should have broken. I happened on a hill I had traveled many times before having the Powertrax installed. I now have a Super 35 kit from Yukon which includes much stronger axles and a Detroit Locker. Contrary to what everyone says, the Detroit is friendlier on the street than the Powertrax and it works even better off-road. If you are making the change to a locker, go the extra bucks for the Yukon kit and get a stronger better rear end. Unless you can afford a D44, which I can't. Email me if you have questions.

After 13 months of restoration, we took the MB on its maiden drive
today! It isn't quite perfect yet, and has a bit of trouble with
idle (carb need rebuilt), but it moved under its own power! What a
wonderful sound it makes. Many thanks to Steve Olney! I will post
a few pics later, and with a bit of luck and hard work, I hope to
have it ready for the BBQ. Words can't really justify how I am
feeling. I am quite happy at the moment. Thanks to all who helped
me put it back together.

Hello All,
Joe Bornkessel lead a trail run Sunday, November 9, 2003 across Terminator (Upper)

We could not of asked for a more perfect day to run a couple of trails, the weather was GREAT. The group size made for smooth, nice paced trip. No real problems, towards the end of Upper Terminator we did have one shackle reverse leading to a bent leaf. Once on Judgement Day we were down to two Jeeps and moved through it fairly quickly also. Brad drove the center of the waterfall. It was nice to meet you Jeff and J

Dont have those. The root holes look very clean, just like water been
running through them and thats it. We do a regular maintenance for
bugs. Jeff CamoXJ--- In az_vjc@yahoogroups.com, "Linda"
