Doesn't matter which way you mount CO2 tanks. You can even mount them

Hello Jeepers, I tried this before but I don't think it went
through.
Can anyone give my good directions from either 7th street and bell,
or some other fairly easily found land mark, to some 1.0 to 3.0
trails near Phoenix? I have tried to find Martinez Cabin, found an
artillery range instead, nothing marked as Cottonwood canyon, as well
as the back way to crown king and by fallowing the instructions to
lake pleasant after the paved road ends take a right. Is that a right
onto the hill? I saw two trails but both seemed to end once over the
top of said hill. PLEASE HELP ME TO JEEP!!!! Thank you.

Your description of their parts fiasco is not much different than most
parts departments I have dealt with. How about $9 for a control arm nut
and bolt? To me, that is as stupid as $18 for the spring retainers.
$35 for the parts on a ZJ disc brake backing plate.....the same thing
bought after market is about $15 (for both sides). Some things, in my
opinion, are worth getting at the dealer because rebuilds from AutoZone
or Checker just don't cut it.

As for the coil spring retainers....they are greatly over rated. For a
number of years, DC only used one retainer (left it off the other side).
If you look at how the spring reacts to compression and expansion, you
see that it won't work on that side (you would need a coil spring wound
in the opposite direction).

How about this... when I got my sway bar disconnects, I needed spring
retainers. When I went there and asked them about it, they didn't know
what
I was talking about. After about a half hour of the parts guy asking
other
people in parts and service, they finally figured it out. They were
then
able to find the part number and order it for me, for the low low price
of
$18.

Subject: Problems installing a lift...

Hi all...I put this email on the wrong list the first time...

I am in the process of installing a 2-1/2" Rubicon lift to my 83 CJ7
jeep. I am having a problem with the sway bar not being long enough,
in actual length from one side of the vehicle to the other, to be
able to connect both quick disconnects. Basically I can connect one
side, but the oposite side is about 1" off center. Anyone ever have
this problem, or know where I might be able to get more information?

Also, I have a Rancho 5000 steering stabilizer (one shock), and the
instructions show the application for the 83 CJ, but on the picture
the arm of the shock, where the boot goes is different then any other
application picture shown. It show the arm with the boot connecting
to the axle and the tube connecting to the steering arm. Anyone have
any thoughts as to which direction this should go?

Thank you in advance for the help...

Philip

Subject: Re: steering and trac bar

Baldman, Multiple angles in a draglink, If severe enugh will cause
problems. On a less severe case, it will cause the steering linkage
to rotate, if you will, causing certain locknuts to loosen, or tie
rod ends to reach their "max" mis-alignment. Another problem is when
you cycle the "multiple bend draglink" In its range of motion,
depending on the bends and twists in the link, it will cause the
steering wheel to move (ocillate if you will) differently than the
axle. (bumpsteer) Chances are at that point you will also be changing
toe settings, either in or out and it most likely would cause a death
wobble. So if I was to build a steering set up, NO I would not have
multiple angles/bends out of the radius of the axle movement.

Fred.....I was wondering about the safety valve. If the tank were
mounted in such a fashion as to have liquid covering the valve, do you
think that would cause an issue with it being able to rupture properly
at the design pressure....or.....if that did not matter, what might be
the consequences of spraying something (a person?) with liquid....or
would it all change to gas so quickly that it would not be an issue?

Just wondering as I have thought about this as well.

Hi Joey,

Yeah, I've been away for a few months now and things seem to have
really degraded lately. Historically this has happened many times in
the past and if everybody just waits it out things will get back
to "normal" again.

It snowed a few inches here in Montana the other day and tonight its
coming down hard. We've gotten about an inch in the last hour. Give
it another 9 hours and I might have to use 4WD just to get to work
in the morning!!! Yeehaw :D

Take it easy,

There is a lot of controversy with this subject. Some swear by the brand
name and others say they can build their own intake for almost nothing using
PVC pipe and some hose clamps. I honestly don't know the difference but I
will tell you this: My Jeep was one of three used to develop the YJ version
of K&N FIPK kit and over an almost two year period I saw them test at least
4 prototypes. The dyno showed differences of up to 5 rear wheel horsepower
between the prototypes. K&N R&D finally selected the version I have on my
Jeep now, which is a curved design (picture:
http://www.jeepsonly.com/project1/graphics/fipk/fipk_installed_1.jpg). They
said the straight acrossed the engine version didn't yield a significant
enough improvement on the YJ and oddly enough (to me anyway) the curved
design was the best version. I'm sure the homemade PVC pipe systems add
power, probably mostly due to the large round K&N air filter most people put
on the end of them.

It would be a lot easier if you were to sign up on some of the trail
runs on azvjc.org that way you dont get lost on the trails. You dont
want John (Hunter Offroad) looking for you on his time off :o) J/K
That way you can meet some nice folks and get to know the area with

yourself and ask someone to lead it for you. Theres usaully a good
turnout on most runs. Good luck Jeff CamoXJ--- In
