I spent a weekend out at Sycamore Creek camping with some friends recently. I did not know this area very well and because of this I was limited in areas to drive my Jeep (I did find Widow maker). All of my friends were riding quads.

We are planning another camping trip for the weekend after Thanksgiving 28th - 30th. I would like to get a group of Jeeper's out on Saturday to do a trail ride. I am hoping someone that knows the trail out in this area would like to lead the ride.
If you would like to camp..... the more the merrier. I will post more detailed directions for the meeting place before the date of the trip.
At this point I would have serious reservations about recommending Avondale

How about this... when I got my sway bar disconnects, I needed spring
retainers. When I went there and asked them about it, they didn't know what
I was talking about. After about a half hour of the parts guy asking other
people in parts and service, they finally figured it out. They were then
able to find the part number and order it for me, for the low low price of
$18.

Anaconda is one of the toughest trails in Arizona; quite possible the toughest trail. The trail starts near the beginning of Lower Terminator and travels up a side wash.

Quickly the trail becomes narrow and tough. There are several waterfalls to traverse and the rock walls are unforgiving. Tires with tough sidewalls are definitely recommended, as is extra parts. Once you start Anaconda, you are committed; there is an exit mid way through but only after traversing one of the tougher waterfalls.
I anticipate a cool drive up through the pines in CK. All I can think about is one of those damn tasty patty melts at the CK Saloon.
The Lake Pleasang to Crown King trail is a local favorite. On any given weekend, there will be numerous groups of four wheelers, ATV's and motorcycles heading to and from Crown King. It is a fun and scenic trail into the cooler pines of the Bradshaws. This trail was the first trip ever done by AzVJC.
The trail takes off from the Castle Hotsprings Rd and travels through the foot hills and up the side of the mountain, giving nice views of Lake Pleasant and the Valley. There are some tougher optional sections that can make it interesting.
The trail goes through the old ghost towns of Fort Misery and Oro Belle, both of which are remnants of the Mining era of the Bradshaw Mountains. All that remains now, are foundations and a few crumbling walls. Fort Misery makes a nice place to stop and eat lunch as the small creek usually has running water and there are trees to provide shade.
In the winter months, the trail from Fort Misery through Oro Belle to Crown King will often have snow and/or ice. In the summer, an early start is necessary to stay ahead of the rising temperatures.
Once on top of the mountain, the trail runs through the cool pines and into Crown King. In Crown King there are places to eat and have a drink, and a general store that sells some excellent fudge.
There are campgrounds on top of the mountain near Crown King for those wishing to stay overnight. The fastest way down is via the main road which leads through Cleator and toward Bumble Bee. You can split off and go through Cordes Junction, which will get you to the Freeway quicker, or keep going strait and go through the little town of Bumble Bee.
Alternatively, you can take the Senator Highway toward Prescott or Mayer, this can be a very interesting trail during snow season. If you have the time, follow Towers Mountain rd through Crown King and up to the top of Towers Mountain, there are some excellent views and you can join back up with the Senator Highway afterward.
Have fun, remember to bring water and your camera.
Enjoy, and remember to TREAD Lightly!

Mike,
I have to agree this BS needed to come to an end. I have talked
with the other Mike (Mike F.) in the past, he seemed like a good guy
and I still think he is. However the reply key needed to be used
instead of the "Reply All" and it was more poor judgement. Also
when Mike F. was being attacked I think it would have been better if
he and his current girlfriend should have kept responding off line.
I agree with you, you can't just ban any name given without a
reason, you went looking to assure a reason was there and think you
have shown due dilligence in your efforts. Hopefully this will
bring this to an end.
For those with doubts, Mike Chatfield (for the intents of the issue
that he is in the "inner circle") has helped me several times with
email answers, offers to help and actuall help and I am by no means
in the "inner circle" of the AZVJC. I have never seen him play
favorites and has been at several club functions and not just the
fun ones.
Thanks for all your efforts Mike C., you have my suppport.

Again, I fully agree.
Also, Mike HAS done plenty of trail runs, and I have some pics to
prove it. ;) He has helped many, and I feel, is the kind of guy I'd
be proud to call a friend on the trail (but not on the hockey
rink) ;) For what it's worth, (not much, I'm sure) I think this crap
is done. Glad that we can get on to other Jeep stuff, or OT stuff,
just not this crap. :) BTW- anyone want to buy a TJ?

I also agree that Mike handled this situation very well. He has put in a
lot of work on the site besides his work within the group at events. BTW his
is a thankless job the only time anyone remembers all the work on the site
is if it does not work.
I know his CJ has been broken for about a year now and with the hours
required at his job he has not even been able to work on it. I think the
time he has put into this club considering is amazing.
On another note we are a rather Good ole Boy site as all the runs are trail
or land use based. I just saw a commercial on the TV all the new Fall
Fashions are in at TJ Max would anyone like to post a trail run??? We can
be a kinder and gentler AZVJC. Just trying to help:D Jim F.

How about this... when I got my sway bar disconnects, I needed spring
retainers. When I went there and asked them about it, they didn't know what
I was talking about. After about a half hour of the parts guy asking other
people in parts and service, they finally figured it out. They were then
able to find the part number and order it for me, for the low low price of
$18.

My brother wants to sell his tires.
5 Goodyear 33x12.50x15 MT/R's.
4 have over 50% tread, 1 brand new.
Tires only, no wheels.
$350
I am selling:
Custom made rear "rock" bumper with swing out tire carrier. The tire
carrier looks like the Warn style, 2000 pound latch, and a secondary

Subject: [TR] Anaconda - Saturday, November 8, 2003
Hello All,Joel Jonson is leading an Anaconda trail run on Saturday, November 8, 2003.

When: 8:00 AM
Where: TABLE MESA ROAD (AIR DOWN SPOT)
Rating: 5.0
Length: 5 HOURS
CB Channel: 34
PLEASE HAVE LOCKERS FRONT AND REAR WITH 35'S. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS YOU CAN CONTACT CORY JONSON AT RATPATROL4X4@Y....

Definitly take the camera on this one. Don't forget water.
Hello All,Tom Schenk is leading a Lake Pleasant to Crown King trail run on Sunday, November 9, 2003.

When: Meet 10am - I don't function well before then.
Leave ASAP.
Where: I don't know where to meet by the trail, so how about we meet on I-17/Carefree Hwy. exit, you know that dirt lot on the right where someone is always selling some junk.

Mike you area doing a gerat job, keep it up!
In all the years I've been online I have never seen
anyone jump down the throat of another like what
happened here this week, for Carol to make an
accusations online in public like that was totally
uncalled for, it made me feel embarassed to be a part
of azvjc. She should have approached the issue back
channel.
This group is a great resource for many, and I try to
help when I can, being 150 miles from the big city
don't help that much, I just hope that this wil be a
learning tool for all of us....keep this type of stuff
back channel, and let's get back to jeepin'
Thanks for listening!

Mike,
I have to agree this BS needed to come to an end.

Hopefully, but prob. not. :)

I'll agree with that, although he might be the 'entire circle' :)

For sure!

PS Mike thanks for all the work you do!
