Subject: Sharky's accident

I am absolutely dumbfounded.
I have met and wheeled with Sharky a few times and can only say that
he is a great person, through and through.
My thoughts and well wishes are definitely with him and his family.

I will get my wife to donate to the paypal thing tomorrow (she is the
one with the account), and i am up for helping out however I can.
The car wash sounds like a novel idea.

If Sharky's recouperative abilities and will to live are anywhere
close to his love of life and fervor for wheeling, then he will be
back on the trails in no time. He has survived serious rolls before
without barely a scratch, and I know this will only be a temporary
setback for him.

Theresa and I had a very funny experience today. We were coming home
from visiting with Joe and Joyce W when we decided to fill up our
crew cab pickup. We cruised past many stations with lines more than
a 1/4 mile long! Since there is no shortage of diesel and all the
stations have it we decided to keep driving until we found a station
with diesel that was out of all the various grades of unleaded. The
place was as deserted as a ghost town. I pull up to the green diesel
pump and start pumping my $1.59 diesel into the truck. Before you
know it there is a swarm of cars cruising the station and circling
the pumps like vultures. After they realize I'm pumping diesel some
of them would squeal out of the lot in frustration. One lady just
looked at me dumb until I told her that I was pumping diesel.
Theresa and I couldn't stop laughing at the situation. It was like a
swarm of locusts decended upon us, LOL. Anyway, I feel for all of
you that are running unleaded this week. Hopefully it gets better in
the near future.

Hi Gang,

I just spoke with the towing company, and they have stated that they
will release Sharky's Jeep as soon as the bill has been paid. the
problem is; they don't know what the bill charges are just yet because
the driver who picked up Sharky's Jeep is out for the next couple of
hours.
Tomorrow morning, Rick Norman and I will head up to Black Canyon City to
pick up Sharky's Jeep and bring it home. We'll probably tow it to
someone's private garage so that Mrs. Sharky can get Mr. Sharky's stuff
out of the Jeep (in a private kind of way).
I'll let everyone know how things go.

Kind Regards,

Joe West

Subject: Re: Sharky's Accident -- what happened?

This is my interpretation of what happened as told to me by Greg:

About 3 AM Sharky was involved a violent end over end rollover on the
road back from Crown King. People who were with him state he recieved
severe head trauma. Sharky never regained consiousness after the
accident, and was transported by med evac helo to John C Lincoln
hospital at Central and Dunlap. No word as to his condition.
Immediate family has been notified.

The other details are pretty gruesome, so fair warning before you
read them.

No one was with him in the Jeep. Greg Banfield and Keith Auble were
first on the
scene. They were following him down the hill. There was a S curve
Sharkys Jeep drifted into the ditch, there was a manhole sticking up
in the ditch, they believe that is what caused his Jeep to go end
over end. Speed was about 40 MPH. Greg yelled out to him and got no
reponse. Greg said Sharky's chest was heaving irregularly when he
approached the vehicle. He flagged down Keith and together they got
him out of the Jeep. Greg said Sharky must have hit his head on
something because he was missing the flesh and his ear (I can only
assume his right ear) off of his head. His ear was found and saved
and placed in a cryo container. Greg used all the bandages he had in
his 1st aid kit on the side of Sharkys head. The paramedics arrived
and hauled him by ambulance to an exit off Black Canyon Hwy, where
they met a Helo and he was transported to the hospital.
His Jeep was towed to an impound yard in Black Canyon City.

You can if you don't plan on hitting any bumps or turning the wheel. A
4.5" lift and lots of cutting around the wheel well and opening will
fit a 33/10.50 real nice. It also depends on what you intend to do
with the Jeep. Linda Luik can tell all thats needed for and what fits
on a ZJ.

Scott,

How is this for funny.... I sat at the Costco for :30 minutes
waiting for it to open for gas. They just opened the pump and a
Blazer pulls up and gets into line. I look at the license plate and
it is blue & white, that's right folks, AFV. I filled up and watched
these people sit there in line a while longer.
Does this vehicle help explain why this state is so screwed up?
(Our tax dollars hard at work)

--James

PS - Costco on Country Club and Baseline got 2 truck load of gas
while I was sitting there and the price was $1.74/gallon.

Only if you don't plan on driving it.

Even with a 4.5" lift you still have to trim back inside the front
wheel wells and the rear edges of the front bumper. Also, if you do
go with 33" tires, look at 33x10.50r15s or 285/75r16s. These will fit
better than the wide 33x12.50r15s.

If it's organized right...you could have a couple going on the same

I only met Sharkey at the training session last year, but was
impressed with him and his "life is fun" attitude that I saw.

Prayers and thoughts are here too and will do whatever I can to help.
