Oops, I should have said "If I don't meet you again".

Those that have been around here for the last 5 years know that I
originally had a YJ when the club was formed and replaced that with
a TJ in February of '99. I sold the TJ in June and have been having
a serious case of withdrawal for the past 2 months. :(

I finally came across the perfect Jeep to take up to Montana with me
(our house closes this week and we leave for good Sept 2nd). I feel
like I'm getting a great deal on it. I've got Theresa's stamp of
approval so I'm picking it up tomorrow. The first mod will be to
slap on a club sticker :)

Anybody want to take a W.A.G. as to what my 3rd Jeep will be? I'll
post a pic tomorrow and some details. (Joey K, Mark B, & Stu O -
DON'T SPILL THE BEANS!)

We can baptize it into the club at the anniversary run to CK. I feel
like a kid again! :D

Has anyone out there built a 4 link coil suspension on the rear of a CJ7? I
am in the process now and would like to find out what others have used for
springs. I am trying to find something that will have an installed height
of about 9 or 10 inches and work well for both street and off-road use.

Any pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Yeah right! It was a nice diversion from work though...

The hood got dented on the Z-turn on Lower Terminator several
weeks ago. I'll find a picture of it to post when I get home from
work tonight. The drivers side tie rod end is starting to bend
also, but Troy is installing his Alumiflex steering system in a
week or two. Lets do another run before you leave!

Nice rig Brad! One day mine will grow up and maybe I can take the
lowering kit off along with the curb feelers!

Did you install the LA kit yourself? I finally talked my wife into
letting me save up for an RE LA kit a year ago... I have $35 to put
toward it.

Killer job on that Mercedes! Maybe I will come over there and do the
limbo under it in my Jeep!

Thanks! That rig always takes care of any extra money I might
have...

Yes, I installed the lift myself along with the help of Scott Legge
and the help and expertise of Scott Kruize. I was a little
intimidated when I started the project and hate to think how it
may have turned out without their help. I picked out the parts
based on advise from this group and again, things would not
have gone so well without the advise. Thanks everyone!

If the Mercedes hasn't been towed yet I'm going to ask (beg)
again if I can break some glass. I REALLY want to put a tire on
the roof!

Well, off to work now :(

Have a good day

Thanks Chris,

I got the beast running. I cut bunches of wires, made a few splices for the
FI & the HEI and it works. Turn the key the fuel pump starts, turn it over
and it starts without any hesitation.
Unbelievable, that has got to be the biggest wire mess I have turned into a
working system. It looks sooooo clean now.

--James

PS - I need to post some new pics. I searched for fuel cells and everyone
wanted $300-$400, I finally looked at some boat stuff and found an 18 gallon
tank that fit nicely between the wheel wells in the tub. The best part about
the boat fuel cell is it was $110.

Subject: Re: [az_vjc] Help, CJ wirng

James,
Before I start, this is all based on the 81 CJ manual I have but it is
probably the same for the 82.

First part:
I looked over the wiring diagram in my 81 manual and they show 2
possible plugs that plug in to that connector that has the neutral
safety gound on it. One looks like it is for a manual tranny and one
for an auto. The manual tranny one has nothing connected to that port
on the plug. It goes no where. The auto tranny one has a wire in that
port of the plug that connects to the neutral safety switch. So yes, I
believe that connector just goes to ground somewhere. It is used with
the auto tranny to complete the ground circuit for the neutral safety
switch.
Since you are running a manual tranny, it probably means nothing to
you. Do whatever you want with it. I could be wrong but this seems to
be what it is for.

Second part:
The red wire goes to go to a connector that goes on the small top post
(not the big side post) of the starter solenoid. It does not stop at
the big side post. The red wire also goes to a point where it bridges
off in 2 directions. One is to a plug that plugs in to the ignition
module and the other is to the multi-wire connector located to the
right of the ignition module. That connector plugs in to its mate (on
the next page that you do not have in this pic) and the red wire
continues on to the ignition switch.
Also, see that Lt Blue wire that comes out of the other smaller top
post of the starter solenoid? It goes down to that multi-wire connector
and then to the same 2 connector plug for the ignition module that the
red one from the coil plugs in to. Well, from that multi-wire
connector's mate, it goes to the ignition switch also. I believe these
2 wires (red and lt blue) are the wires that activate the solenoid to
let power through to start the Jeep.
From the ignition switch, there is also a yellow wire that goes to the
volt gauge and also to the fuse block. That seems to be where the power
for the ignition system comes from. It is connected to several other
wires in the fuse block including one that goes back (through the
connector) to the big side post on the starter solenoid. This is the
same post that connects to the battery. Power.
The black wire coming out of the ignition switch seems to go to through
a plug to a brake failure switch.

The green wire seems to go three places. One to the 4 wire plug on the
ignition module. One to the idle speed switch. The last to the base
engine diagnostic connector. All the other wires in that 4 wire plug
that plugs in to the ignition module go to a plug that plugs in to the
distributor.

It would seem that none of the various wires associated with the red
wire are routed through the ignition module such that they can not
complete a ignition/starting circuit. Are you using an aftermarket
ignition module and distributor? If so, you might be able to get power
for it from either of the 2 wires (red or blue) that go in to that 2
wire connector that plugs in to the factory ignition module. They both
seem to come from ignition on only sources that could provide power. If
I were a betting man, I'd say the red one since red usually signifies
power. If you need to connect the green wire to something, I'm not sure
on that one. It may just be a power lead, but it may require a signal
from the ignition module to work properly.

This is all based on what I "read" from the wiring schematic. I would
encourage you to trace back the wires as I did on your diagram to
confirm what I said. I could even come over and show you how I "read"
it.

Hope that helps and is not too confusing.

Chris

Subject: [az_vjc] Good alignment shop

Anyone recommend a good alignment shop? I've had my 87XJ into Big O
down here a couple times and it's still pulling to the right.
Thanks
Keith

Network Alignment is great, check the phonebook theres several
locations, we get a club discount, if i rember right its 49 bux, and
it has a 6 month warranty (i took mine back after some steering work
and they aligned it again for free. The one I go to is on 67th ave
and bethany.

I think this has been covered, but I forgot.
I have 2 fuel tanks I need to dispose of, where do I do this? They are empty
and relatively fume free.
