there to observe the rocks not being removed. Fair enough?

If you had to stack so many rocks, sounds like the trail was beyond the
level of the cherokee. Should have done trails made for rigs with open
diff's. This is how our once 5 rated trails are now 2 -3 ratings.

He will be buying a brand new 2003 and with the options he wants the
only one available will be the quadra trac. He might lift it (2-3
inches at most) a couple of inches and the hardest trail he will
ever do would be the CK run and with that there is a 99% chance he
would take all the bypasses. I guess I should have been more
specific, his main concern is how it will handle on road with the
extra wear and tear and handling. Off road it will be fine for what
he needs.
Sorry for the confusion.

Yes, you do cross State Trust Lands from Lake Pleasant to CK. However, the
access from I-17 does not cross STL.
Stu's correct.......... there are 9.5 million acres of STL in Arizona and
most public lands are locked behind STL somewhere...... S.

I would look for a 1974 or newer. Everything from '74 on is essentially interchangeable. '73 and before are more difficult to find parts for and have things such as closed knuckle front axles.
I would look for the 401 motor ('74 to '77) but most come with a 360. Personally I like the '79 and earlier because they come with the TH400 transmission which makes a GM motor swap easy. The '80 and later have the TF727 which also provides options. I have no experience with the manual transmissions.

It sounds like you have two separate problems. First, if the
passenger side shaft and wheel are not spinning when your t-case is
shifted into 4WD, then you most likely have a vacuum problem. The
vacuum disconnect is unable to engage the inner and outer axle shafts
and, with an open differential (ie. no locker), the behavior you
reported is what should happen. There is a vacuum harness with
vacuum lines that run from the motor to the t-case to the front
axle. These can be had for about $35 at the Jeep dealer.
As for the slop, that sounds like worn out ball joints.

Subject: Questions [was Re: The coves were disgusting]
There are several groups that do annual cleanups at The Coves, but
most do it in the cooler times of the year. Unfortunately, the summer
months seem to make bring out the pigs -- for a lack of a better
term. Summer is also the time the lake gets the most visitors and the
most vocal and publicized complaints about trash and wildcat
trailcutting. There have been a bunch of ideas for maintaining the
coves and the Rolls OHV Area, but most, if not all, require a lot of
dedication -- that is a very difficult thing to do using volunteers.
Heck, look at other popular trail sites. Even maintaining a single
trail can be a difficult thing to do.
Questions:
* Has the Jeep diving expo put on a few weeks ago at the lake been
confirmed? Is there really a Jeep in Saquaro Lake? Most likely
there's a bunch of cars, trucks, etc. out there. If they ever drain
that lake...
* A local Hummer dealer is providing test drives in the Black Canyon
Area. Anyone know where they are going?

First of all I must say that Scott sucks....uh, I mean his rig

Second, be careful when Scott gives you a spot on an off camber

he sometimes speaks pig latin.
Finally, for the record, I made it over the same line as Scott, it's

If you had to stack so many rocks, sounds like the trail was beyond the
level of the cherokee. Should have done trails made for rigs with open

I would look for the 401 motor ('74 to '77) but most come with a 360. Personally I like the '79 and earlier because they come with the TH400 transmission which makes a GM motor swap easy.

Subject: OT: Need to find a good home for a great dog
We need to find a good home for our 8 year old female Dalmation. She loves to go for rides. She will actually sit for hours in the jeep or truck and wait for you to take her somewhere. She is fixed and good with kids. We moved into an apartment this past week and although we can have her here we feel she needs more room to run and a fenced yard. If you know anyone that is looking for a wonderful companion please give them this info.
Thank you

First of all I must say that Scott sucks....uh, I mean his rig sucks.....and
he knows it :)
Second, be careful when Scott gives you a spot on an off camber obstacle, as
he sometimes speaks pig latin.
Finally, for the record, I made it over the same line as Scott, it's just
when I backed up to do it again, I flopped. Oops.
If only I had a rig like Scott's. Then I could drive over anything.

Sounds like there is a story behind this statement. Come on, Rick.
Fess up! ;-)

I have a T18A (6.32 1st gear) along with the adapter and transmission
tunnel cover from a 1980 J20. I think this stuff will fit a Wagoneer.
$225 for all.
If you know someone who might be interested, let'em know.

TH400 transmission which makes a GM motor swap easy. The '80 and
later have the TF727 which also provides options. I have no
experience with the manual transmissions.

Rick....after knowing what Scott's rig looks like, you still took a spot
from him? LOL (we need to get you in for a medical exam....something
just isn't right with you!) :D :D :D :D
