Subject: tech, help with clutch
I hope someone has some insight on what to do.
I have been trying to put a clutch in my jeep for about a month. I finally
get everything back together and the dust cover? Flex plate thingy is
rubbing on the flywheel really bad. It is the piece on the block side of
the flywheel that keeps dirt out on the lower half. Excpet this one goes all
the way around the bellhousing
It is a custom made piece (chevy block- ford transmission) that I have bent
almost beyond repair trying to get more clearance.
It does not appear to be structural, so would there be a problem if I cut it
in half and bolted the bellhousing directly to the block(with no dust shield
in between on the top half) and then bolted the other half to the bottom of
the bellhousing only to keep dirt out.
Thanks in advance for any help, I am out of ideas

Check out Redline products (www.redlineoil.com/products.htm), 4 Wheelers

16, 2003 - Reminder
Hello All,Joey Kulich is leading a Crown King from Lake Pleasant trail
run on Saturday, August 16, 2003.
When: Saturday the 16th of August
Where: Meeting at various orgins and times to converge on Crown King
Rating: 3.0-
Length: ALL DAY
CB Channel:
Annual Crown King Run
This is it. Another year to make our way to Crown King. Come join the
camaraderie and adventure. Here is a chance to enjoy cool temps and
hospitality of Crown King. What better setting to see the faces of the
people behind the emails.
Sign up here to be counted then sign up for a run you can make (below).
Last year we had several runs starting at various times and locations.
There will be runs starting from Lake Pleasent, Turkey Creek, Senetor
Highway from Prescott or even the Crown King road.
6:00 AM Crown King from Lake Pleasant Early Bird Run Lead by Hackle
7:00 AM Crown King from Lake Pleasant Lead by Stu Olson
8:00 AM Crown King from Lake Pleasant Lead by Kent Warner
9:00 AM Crown King from Lake Pleasant Lead by Sharky
10:00 AM Lake Pleasant to Crown King Lead by Kevin's Carr
11:00 AM
1:30 PM Crown King from Lake Pleasant Lead by Leonard Pennock
7:00 AM Turkey Creek Lead by Joey K</font>
If you are intrested in leading a run from a different location or time
post it.
I just wanted to send this message and I or someone else will
send it again before the trip. The trail times are when the group
leaves. If you sign up for my early bird run at 6:00 and show up at 6:05
you will be well behind the group and probably be aired down and ready
when Stu leaves at 7:00. We will have a lot of vehicles on the trail at
the same time and need to be on time to keep each group separate from
the others. Of course everyone wants to be well ahead of Sharky as we
all know how his trips to Crown King end up. BTW anyone that is an EMT
might want to think about joining Sharky's group:)<br>

The Lake Pleasang to Crown King trail is a local favorite. On any given
weekend, there will be numerous groups of four wheelers, ATV's and
motorcycles heading to and from Crown King. It is a fun and scenic trail
into the cooler pines of the Bradshaws. <a
href="../Main/History.asp">This trail was the first trip ever done by
AzVJC.</a>
The trail takes off from the Castle Hotsprings Rd and travels through
the foot hills and up the side of the mountain, giving nice views of
Lake Pleasant and the Valley. There are some tougher optional sections
that can make it interesting.
The trail goes through the old ghost towns of Fort Misery and Oro Belle,
both of which are remnants of the Mining era of the Bradshaw Mountains.
All that remains now, are foundations and a few crumbling walls. Fort
Misery makes a nice place to stop and eat lunch as the small creek
usually has running water and there are trees to provide shade.
In the winter months, the trail from Fort Misery through Oro Belle to
Crown King will often have snow and/or ice. In the summer, an early
start is necessary to stay ahead of the rising temperatures.
Once on top of the mountain, the trail runs through the cool pines and
into Crown King. In Crown King there are places to eat and have a drink,
and a general store that sells some excellent fudge. The old Crown King
Saloon was actually built in Oro Belle, and later hauled up (many years
ago) to Crown King and rebuilt. In Oro Belle, the saloon was built into
the side of the hill, so the upstairs were mainly accessable from the
rear of the building (at ground level). The upstairs served as a place
repose for women of ill fame.
There are campgrounds on top of the mountain near Crown King for those
wishing to stay overnight. The fastest way down is via the main road
which leads through Cleator and toward Bumble Bee. You can split off and
go through Cordes Junction, which will get you to the Freeway quicker,
or keep going strait and go through the little town of Bumble Bee.
Alternatively, you can take the Senator Highway toward Prescott or
Mayer, this can be a very interesting trail during snow season. If you
have the time, follow Towers Mountain rd through Crown King and up to
the top of Towers Mountain, there are some excellent views and you can
join back up with the Senator Highway afterward.
Have fun, remember to bring water and your camera.
Enjoy, and remember to TREAD Lightly!

A couple of guys from my truck club and I went out to the coves this
morning. I cant believe how much trash was left there, it was
absolutely disgusting. I cant believe how much trash there was, we
picked some up but the three of us couldnt do much. Otherwise it was
a great run and everyone had a great time. The ford in the group
overheated and we had to stop for a while. The ruts in most of the
hills were really deep and made for some wicked climbs and descents.
Hope everyone had a great weekend

Scott...this time of year is not the best time to organize a volunteer
cleanup (it is too hot).
AZJVC has done several annual cleanups at the Coves (3 or 4 of them?).
If memory serves me correctly, we usually do it in the latter part of
the year....so keep an eye on the club's web site and you'll probably
see a posting come up for it in a few more months.
Thank you for thinking about how the club can help clean up our local
wheelin' areas. Now, like you said, if we could just get people to not
trash it in the first place, life would certainly be better.

Subject: Lift test...awesome!
Well I took the new Rock Krawler kit for its first test run last
night. A few of the Rock Rats and I went to Raw Deal to do a little
testing on my new lift as well as Rick Normans. Raw Deal has alot of
flex spots to test on and I must say Im more than impressed with how
stable my Jeep felt and how far she is flexing, after putting the
front coils back in a few times I realized it was working better than
I had expected! A few adjustments on my limiting straps and all will
be good. Keep in mind Im only running the front half of the Super 7
from Rock Krawler until we finish the rest of the mods to the rear.
As well as it flexed with just the front complete I cant wait to see
when the back is done and I have 7" more wheel base! After some good
testing I turned my son loose on the driving chores and he completed
the remaining 100 yards of the trail...thank goodness for the hand
throttle...I cant wait till he can reach the peddles and can do all
of the driving! Hes does really good for only being 10.
thanks guys for the run

Actually...it's just about everybody. I've seen offroaders driving all types
(incl. Jeeps) wildcatting there and tossing beer cans with the rest. Every
type has some bad apples. It's ATV's, it's boaters, it's kids out for a
party. IMO it's an ongoing sore and a black eye for the off roading
community. We've done an annual cleanup there since 1999, and it seems to
just get worse.
Not sure what the answer is, except that we keep up the clean up efforts
(when it gets cooler) and try to broaden it out to include ATV orgs, boaters
etc.

Sometimes I think it should be regulated by a gate and padlock, ala bulldog canyon. This way when people go get their 'free' permit, they can be educated on the consequences of trashing the desert...such as getting trails closed! This would keep out the squatters and illegals, because they wouldn't bother to go get the permit.
DougB <azjeep@c...> wrote:Actually...it's just about everybody.
(when it gets cooler) and try to broaden it out to include ATV orgs, boaters
etc.

Subject: 2001tj transmission pan
Good morning,
I would like to get my high capacity transmission pan installed
today. After reading the FSM, I may need to loosen up the skid
plate to install the new pan. Can anyone recommend blocking points
while the installation is being done?
Best regards,
Mike

I've used a wooden block under the oil pan on many different Jeeps.

It's not Jeepers doing that...it is the illegal immigrants and the hillbilly ridgerunners that live there and throw out the diapers, beer cans, paper plates, etc. The same thing is happening to the river.
