I happen to have picked up a couple of LED tail lights from a guy. I
don't want them as I already have some on my Jeep, but thought someone
else here might want them. Here is a picture:
http://members.cox.net/jayeller/pics/taillight.jpg
I'm looking to get what I have into them, $35.00 each. I have 1 pair
now and the guy I got them from has another pair if there is interest.
I think they sell for $100 each (or more) new. They are 7" in diameter,
use a 4 hole square pattern, have 3 wires (ground, brake, tail) and are
REALLY bright when you hit the brakes.
Email me off list at jayeller@c... if your interested. This will
keep the interested people's messages from getting lost in my az_vjc
digest emails that I get.
Later,

To ALL AZVJC or members that registered for the NOHVCC Workshop....
PLEASE do not feel pushed out on this............... there IS a need to
unite and we will do that!!!
When the notice to "join in" went out NOHVCC had exactly 4 registrants.
They now, because of yours and a number of others, have a full slate at 50.
The problem came out that AZVJC had 7 (as did another group) registered
thusly eliminating a number of others from other groups. NOHVCC would love
to have HUNDREDS at this workshop but it's not possible.
What this workshop is for is to have leaders from all recreation groups
learn HOW to form the council to "unite" everyone. We will learn HOW to
push the legislators into reinstating the OHV fund; how to develop a "OHV
sticker" that will benefit US and not just lawenforcement; how to unite into
a "power" that will truly help us both with the land management agencies as
well as the political side............... once this organization is formed
it will take EVERYONE to get it all rolling.
Dana tells me she simply asked the last registrants of each group if they
would withdraw to allow all recreation groups to be represented. If we did
not have 30-50 participants, they would have cancelled the
workshop............ we NEED this information and leadership.
THANKS to all for trying............. you definitely will be needed to
continue this project!!

John,
The 1994-2001? Dodge trucks used the same module that DC-Jeep used on
the XJ/WJ/ZJs. My 94 Cummins has the space for it. You should be able
to locate the unit from a Jeep or Dodge truck, maybe even a high-end
Dodge mini-van at a salvage yard. But there are sensors that go with
it. On the ZJ, the external temp sensor is set in front of the
radiator, the compass sensor is sandwiched between the roof and the
headliner, and the fuel mileage sensors are (there's more than one
type) tied into the computer.
Okay... you might be better off looking for an aftermarket unit if
you truck wasn't prewired.

I understand the feeling, especially when I see people who buy Rubicon's, Hummers etc, and never get them dirty, yet claim to be able to go anywhere, "just like" me.
I put a lot of sweat into my jeep, and see Chrysler come out with a model that has a great deal of what I have to get after market, it's nice, but I wouldn't trade in my jeep now, as I have a real attachment to it. Not to mention many hard won trails and mods.
Those who just buy a capable vehicle, and don't learn and grow are missing a lot. I can't explain it. It's a Jeep thing.
P.S.
It is entertaining to see them try to do what they see on commercials though, I know a guy where I work who wanted to race me in his V-8 Hummer, but I get to pick where. We raced onto the loading dock, 4 foot ledge, straight up, first one over without damage wins.
I drove up and over, he drove away.
P.P.S.
It's OK to have feelings for your Jeep. I think I'll write a book about it. "I'm OK, your TJ". (or CJ, YJ, whatever it takes). Instead of a group hug, we can have a group run. Talk over our feelings of lift/tire size/engine displacement issues. Flexing your suspension in public is natural. Too much time spent in a garage, or on paved streets can cause your jeep to have claustrophobia.

Subject: RE: JP magazine.....
Some background info that may help this "snit" floating between "Jeep"
owners..........
About 10 years ago there was a nationwide survey done regarding what "WE"
want to see in a Jeep........... Each area was allowed a certain number of
participants, only one per family and everyone had to already own a
Jeep....... Every participant was paid $100.00 for joining (most donated
their money to their club or the ASA4WDC). This was a couple of years
before the TJ and the number ONE request was: ROUND Headlights........ the
list went on. Dana 44's, lockers, larger tires as standard, etc etc........
Because of the smog laws, lift laws, mud flaps, open fenders yada
yada....... many of our built Jeeps/4x4's could no longer be road licenced.
Thusly, the development of the TJ and now the Rubicon...... it has it's
place.
In Arizona our road laws are not as strict as states such as California. In
california if you want a vehicle that can do the tougher 4-wheeling being
done today AND drive it as a daily driver.............. the only easy way
is to own a TJ or now a Rubicon. Yes, we'll get some that feel they can "do
anything" because they bought an already built vehicle. We have that today
on the lesser level............. how many 4x4's try trails that are truly
above the vehicles capabilities or the drivers? TOO MANY. It doesn't
relate to who 'built their own' or 'bought it ready to roll'...........
There will ALWAYS be the pride of "building our own" by many of us but there
are large numbers that do not have that capability. Personally, I think
it's great that our manufacturers are "listening" to the people.........
Maybe we all need to think more about "OUR UNITY" and not so much about
"what we drive".............. Our SPORT is what brings us all together, not
our vehicles.

Subject: It is okay to drive your Jeep only on the street... was RE: JP magazine.....
All,
At the risk of taking an unpopular stance... I don't believe it should
matter whether or not people to choose to drive their Jeeps only on the
street. Who cares if a Rubicon owner chooses to only drive their Rubicon on
asphalt? Who cares if they baby their Jeep and keep it polished, waxed, and
absolutely perfect?
Owning a Jeep isn't about trying to keep up with the "real" Jeep owners
("real" is usually defined by the writer as however they themselves use
their Jeep), but is rather, doing whatever you want to do with your Jeep...
independent of what anyone else thinks.
Rock crawlers might define "real" Jeep owners as those Jeepers who bash the
hell out of their rigs and don't care about any damage.
Campers might define "real" Jeep owners as those Jeepers who take their rig
offroad for camping and actually use 4wd some of the time.
Street Jeepers might define "real" as keeping their Jeeps totally stock and
in perfect factory condition and not subjecting it to any abuse at all.
The bottom line is; who cares how people use their Jeep? There is a
systemic attitude among some in our group that "If you don't Jeep like I do"
you aren't a real Jeeper. What a crock!
Here's what defines a real Jeeper:
If you own and drive a Jeep, you are a real Jeeper.
It doesn't matter if you built it, bought it, built and bought it, or
friggen stole the damn Jeep.
For those of you who never take your Jeep offroad... more power to you!
Don't let those in our group who whine about how you choose to use your rig
make you feel like you don't belong.

to "borrow" air on the CK run. Anyone with advice or an extra set of
hand is welcome to come by this weekend.

I got all plumbing, gauges, manafold, pop-off, regulator, filter (oil
and air) from http://www.fittingsandadapters.com/. Don has the best
prices around and will help you with your selections. He has two
other releated sites that are listed on this one. He has the best
coil hoses I've ever seen and a great windowed tire inflator. He even
has one that will air down your tires!
I got my in-cab switch and fuses from Radio Shack for a bout 4 bucks
total.
E-mail me at kcarson@s... for more info. - Kit

I used a Square-D regulator (Ace Hardware), the check valve and
popoff valves were bought there too. Air intake: crankcase filter
from Checker, master switch from Radio Shack (they has the nicest
selection), hose and fittings (Harbor Freight, but Home Depot is good
too). The tank was custom made. ZJs are limited in exterior places to
mount things like that. I didn't bother with a pressure guage becuase
the Square-D regulator was set to 110psi. Manifold? Home Depot,
Campbell Hausfield. Engine compartment air line: soft copper tubing.

JP does not seem afraid to state an opinion even if it likely to upset some
folks or its advertisers. It is refreshing. Here is another quote for the
latest mag in relation to the new Tomb Raider limited edition of the
Rubicon.
"It's not quite the same one Lara drives, but it's close. Both Jeeps look
like they drove through Pep Boys with the crap magnet on. Personally, we'd
prefer a standard Rubicon, unless Miss Croft comes with the limited model"

I think their view are similar to the views of many of the Jeep people I've
talked with but I question their willingness to alienate the Rubicon crowd
by designating the Rubicon as such. Some Rubicon owners seem to feel they
are instant experts offroad and that can be dangerous or at the very least
funny. Part of it might also be because most Jeep owners that modify their
Jeeps spend years and years building them up by themselves and so they feel
they've earned respect from this fact and also through experience over years
of 4 wheeling. Then to have a brand new Jeep owner come along with a fat
wallet and buy him/herself into the sport and instantly expect similar
respect is insulting. Think about someone who has worked at a job for many
years and then a new young employee with little or no experience and a
college degree comes along and is appointed the boss.
Except online, I haven't met any "annoying" Rubicon owners though.
I don't agree with having the Rubicon on a top ten most unwanted list
because some Rubicon owners are annoying though. That's like saying you'll
never be religious because you met someone who was religious and they were a
hypocrit. Or you're never going to vote because politicians are corrupt.
I will say this - almost every Jeep owner I've talked to about it has
admitted to desiring a Rubicon.

Too much time spent in a garage, or on paved streets can cause your jeep to have claustrophobia.

talked with but I question their willingness to alienate the Rubicon crowd
by designating the Rubicon as such.

I just have to let you all know what a great guy Brad had been. I have

Got the York installed and working. Now I need to plumb everything.
From my research I think I have a full shopping list but feel free to
chime in with whatever I leave off.
Inlet filter (any ideas for this one?)
Pressure switch/regulator
Check valve
pressure guage
tank
Popoff valve
In cab master switch
hose
manifold
I'm guessing I can get some of this stuff at Harbor Freight. Any idea
of a good quailty/price tank? Also, what would you recommend for hose
size? I'm trying to get this finished up this weekend so I don't have
to "borrow" air on the CK run. Anyone with advice or an extra set of

They also named the 87 YJ on their list...that's it, I'm cancelling!
Can I hang out with the offended Rubicon owners? :-)

Anyone seen the latest issue which names the Rubicon as one of the
top 10 Jeeps the editors would never own?? It appears that the
editors of JP think that owners of Rubicons are dorks. Away goes my
desire to subscribe....
