Hello All,
Todd McCullen lead a trail run Saturday, August 2, 2003 across Unspecified
You all missed out on a good time. Had 5 rigs on the run, (nobody from the VJC)bummer. <br>
We pulled out at 7:00pm, got to Overdose around 7:30. The very first obstacle we had a tire get cut, quick change and we were moving again. Got to the first waterfall, "derocked" it. Then the fun started. I tried crawling it, attacking it at different angles but could not crawl it. So the next thing was to try using the "Happy Pedal". The first attempt got me up but caught the ledge and stopped me dead, which put me a little sideways. I decided to try a back down which put me over backwards onto my lid. Flipped the rig back over, got back in and gave it another try. This time I made it up and over with no problems. Next in line, decided on the happy pedal technique and made it over but broke a frt. locking hub. We changed the hub while everyone else got up the waterfall. The rest of the trail everyone just picked thier way through with no problems.<br>
After OverDose we headed over to Bad Medicine. This trail is alot of fun. There are plenty of play spots through out the trail, and when it is dark out it is even better. Everyone picked their way through this trail with no major problems. Everyone suffered some type of new body damage but nothing major. We all made it to the last waterfall which is very tight fit at the top. Everyone made it up and around untill the last rig. He got bound up and blew an axle which took the knuckle and ball joint with it. Not a problem,We got the rig jacked up and stable. I then got to play with my new "MOBI-ARC" welder. Fit all the pieces of the knuckle together and welded it up. Welded some old wrenches to the knuckle, welded the ball joint back in place, put it back together with a new axle and we were ready to move along. I can sy that this new MOBI-ARC welder works great. This was the last hard spot so we just headed back to the tow rigs. <br>
It was a great night of wheeling, and were home by 1:30am<br>
All you hard core guys missed out on a great run.<br>
<br>

I can. :)
Hopefully, people understand that when someone asks for a
recommendation, it is with the understanding that the answer will
reflect the respondent's experience base and disclaimers about not
having tried all the repair shops in the valley, the state, the nation,
the world, and the universe... are not necessary.
You will not find a 4wd repair shop anywhere in the valley who can touch
the years of 4WD mechanical experience you'll find at 4 Wheeler's
Supply.
Couple their experience with the fact that they stand behind their labor
and parts 100% and throw in the fact that their employees have
exceptional integrity and you'll end up with an experience which can't
be matched anywhere in Arizona.
Forget the disclaimers and the YMMV crap... if you have a problem at 4
Wheeler's Supply, go see the owner Brian and he will resolve the issue.
Great place run by great people... and while I can't endorse businesses
I have not utilized, I can and do endorse 4 Wheeler's Supply.
Hands Down the best.

The company I work for is changing investment companies for our
401K's and has given us the option to cash out, 100% vested and
without penalty!!! I think I'm going to do this, since I'm only 33
and only have two years invested in it. I know taxes are going to eat
me up, but I should have a sizeable chunk left over for BRUZR!!!
Here's the list of things I'll be doing soon...
1. 4" lift (instead of the 2" that's on there now) PS- I have a 1"
body lift already on to match
2. 35x12.5 tires and new black rockcrawler rims (with the CORRECT
backspacing---3.5")
3. Belly Up skid plate
4. AA SYE and Tom Woods CV Driveshaft
5. 1" lifted motor mounts
6. 4.56 gears front and rear
7. Lockers front and rear
8. Upper and lower control arms all around
9. Currie Anti-Rock front sway bar
10. New CB (the one I have is cooked)
Any suggestions on what type and where to buy any of this would be
greatly appreciated. Keep in mind cost is still an issue (Gotta keep
the wife at bay!!!)
YEEE HAW!!!
Thanks guys...and wish me lots of luck...The wife doesn't know about
my plans yet. *Evil Grin*

This is not directed at anyone in particular, it needs to be said.
If you are going to take your rig on a trail that could cause possible
damage to you rig, please have a working knowledge of how to fix it, some
tools and/or the willingness to learn how to fix it, instead of letting
someone else fix it for you. In addition, if your rig has known issues that
possibly could affect it on the trail don't take it, especially if you don't
have the parts or know how to fix it.
Everyone is out to have a good time. If someone is working on your rig

Don't be surprised.

THAT was funny......
I also can vouch for 4 wheelers. They are an honest shop with fair
prices...ALSO...they will do a bit of price matching for club members
too. Im pretty loyal to people that treat me right and I will always
try to keep my business with them if I can. Sometimes, the price
factor cant be ignored. Anyway, long story short...I checked with
them before buying my winch and they matched the price (even though I
am pretty sure they lost $$ on the deal).

Is the noise at pinion speed? (in other words...is the noise faster
than your tires are turning)
If its not the stuff Joe suggested (check there first), it could be
your front driveshaft or pinion bearing. I had a similiar problem
with my rig and it ended up being the cv in the DS was blown out.

I couldn't agree more that folks need to be prepared before heading
offroad. Adequate spare parts, tools and knowledge of how to
use/replace/repair is essential. That said, there will always be
times when folks need help on the trail, including myself.
As a general rule, the trail boss takes responsibility for ensuring
everyone who starts a run, finishes the run. Personally, I'll never
leave anyone on the trail with a broken rig unless I know they have
the situation under control or assitance on the way. At the same
time, if certain individuals exhibit ineptitude time and again, I'll
refuse to let them join subsequent runs which I lead.

James,
I agree, but either way leaving someone on the trail is wrong. If
someone tends to do this they will get a reputation and soon no one
will let them wheel with them. In future runs they will be sent
away before getting on the trail. Once they are on the trail
leaving them behind is the wrong answer.

Call Nate @ AZ differential specialists. 602-462-5367. Tell him I sent you
and that you are in the VJC.
You can probably get a 3:73 R&P for next to nothing from the group. If not,
he can get you a discount on a new set (probably run you around 125 dollars
for the R&P and 90 bucks for a master install kit which has the bearings
etc). They charge 150 bucks labor to set it up for you. Anyway...max deal,
you should be out of there for under 450 bucks or so.
Now might be a good time to put some lower gears in too if he can cut you a
good enough deal on doing the front an rear.

i am glad tod posted the run on the AZVJC so that he made it available to
others that frequent this site that may have wanted to go. i for one was
interested but don't see good enough in the day let alone at night :)
the AZVJC site is just another "tool" to locate fellow wheelers and runs. the

I agree... Short of doing a tech inspection on everyones rig for a run that
you lead (which is unreasonable), there is really no way to know how capable
anyones rig is or its state of repair. James is right. The owner of the rig
should know, or probably shouldnt be wheeling.
On the other hand, speaking as someone that has broken almost everything on
my rig at one point or another. I carry about 500 pounds of spare parts and
tools (another good thing about an XJ--lots of storage room) and always
make sure my rig is ready before the trail, murphys law can still prevail
and you might break something that you do not have a spare for. I have had
to in the past borrow a spare item from a fellow jeeper. In which case, I
make it a rule to always replace it with a new part of the best quality
(even if I only borrowed a beat up trail spare part) and then I buy a second
one to throw in my trail bag. If it can break once, it can break again.....
I can see where a guy would get frustrated if you were working on their rig
for them and they didnt at least assist you. Thats just wrong..I probably
would have told that person to help or its not going to get fixed. Then I
wouldnt wheel with that person again. No matter what though....I couldnt
leave anyone on the trail. (I think its a jeepers code or something- kinda
like a battle decree in war...we will leave no POW's :)

Hello All,
Todd McCullen lead a trail run Saturday, August 2, 2003 across Unspecified
<br>

Hands Down the best.

flare fits my bank account , I'll come right back and pay cash for the Jeep

Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone would like to let me borrow their TJ rear
flares for a little bit. I want to cut my rear fenders out the shape
of the rear flares. Unfortunately I already sold all my flares. I
just need a set to hold up there for a quick minute and trace a line
around. Does anyone have a set laying around they will let me use?
I will be quick, I can even trace my line in your driveway!
Thanks a ton!

The company I work for is changing investment companies for our
401K's and has given us the option to cash out, 100% vested and
without penalty!!! I think I'm going to do this, since I'm only 33
and only have two years invested in it. I know taxes are going to eat
me up, but I should have a sizeable chunk left over for BRUZR!!!
Here's the list of things I'll be doing soon...
1. 4" lift (instead of the 2" that's on there now) PS- I have a 1"
body lift already on to match
2. 35x12.5 tires and new black rockcrawler rims (with the CORRECT
backspacing---3.5")
3. Belly Up skid plate
4. AA SYE and Tom Woods CV Driveshaft
5. 1" lifted motor mounts
6. 4.56 gears front and rear
7. Lockers front and rear
8. Upper and lower control arms all around
9. Currie Anti-Rock front sway bar
10. New CB (the one I have is cooked)
Any suggestions on what type and where to buy any of this would be
greatly appreciated. Keep in mind cost is still an issue (Gotta keep
the wife at bay!!!)

Subject: Damage on the trail
This is not directed at anyone in particular, it needs to be said.
If you are going to take your rig on a trail that could cause possible
damage to you rig, please have a working knowledge of how to fix it, some
tools and/or the willingness to learn how to fix it, instead of letting
someone else fix it for you. In addition, if your rig has known issues that
possibly could affect it on the trail don't take it, especially if you don't
have the parts or know how to fix it.
Everyone is out to have a good time. If someone is working on your rig
because you don't take care of your rig or you are just "driving it until it
drops" they are not having a good time. So be respectful and know your, and
your rig's, limitations. If I am with you and you have the attitude I have
warned against in this posting, I will, from now on, continue without you.

If its not the stuff Joe suggested (check there first), it could be

Now might be a good time to put some lower gears in too if he can cut you a
good enough deal on doing the front an rear.

of all the "members" of AZVJC, how many actually get out and really WHEEL?
i am glad tod posted the run on the AZVJC so that he made it available to
others that frequent this site that may have wanted to go. i for one was
interested but don't see good enough in the day let alone at night :)
the AZVJC site is just another "tool" to locate fellow wheelers and runs. the
"club" is held together so loosely that being a "member" is really not
relevant.
get it on tod! and sorry i missed you flopping on overdose :)
