That's funny, Chris. My wife was all upset a few weeks ago because the
interior lights and instrumentation wasn't coming on in our Yukon. I
went out and turned the dial (dimmer switch) up...problem solved. must
have gotten rotated while cleaning the interior.

This is going to sound silly, but did you make sure the dimmer switch
is not turned up all the way past the click? Could have been done by
accident.

I suggest if you get a Rubicon you get the Service Manual too. One of
the reasons I like my Jeep so much is that I am learning it as I build
it. So if something goes wrong I will know how to fix it on the trail.

Turn it the other way?
:-)
Seriously though, do the door switches route power or ground? I thought
it was the latter. I thought it was that the circuit is always live but
opening the door releases the switch which provides the ground. Thus,
the lights turn on. If that is so, could one of the wires came loose
from a switch and is grounding against something else?

This might sound stupid but check the battery. When I had my TJ I
had the battery go bad. It had enough juice in it to get it started
but not enough to keep it running. If I gave it gas then it would
run fine but when I shifted into gear the rpms would drop and engine
would die. As long as I kept the rpms up it would run off of the
alternator. HTH.......Steele

Sanford,
You are correct about how important the meeting is but when Lynn sent the
last message out we had FOUR registrations; one was an MIC representative
and the other three are on the planning team. We really need some
additional leaders there in order to have a positive outcome. I’m not too
concerned about having a lot of participants but we need to have more than
just the three people who are already talking to each other.
This workshop is costing thousands of dollars in a REALLY tight budget year
but the value of the outcome will be immeasurable if we get leaders to show
up. We would certainly appreciate any help we can get from you to get folks
to participate. I’m hoping it’s a case of people procrastinating or just
not hearing about the workshop yet and not an indication of their interest
in getting organized and rebuilding the OHV program. I am sure that the
latter is not the case because 50 people were at the last one.
I agree that we can have a great meeting with 15 or 20 of the right folks
and it is our desire to proceed if at all possible. I spoke to Lynn about
an hour ago and she has seen a positive response from the last e-mail.

Subject: Re: URGENT AZ LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP
I realize that budgets are always an issue and with a lower attendance,
there may be some cost savings realized. However, the greater good here is
that NOHVCC is in a unique position to enable the creation of a statewide
OHV association and that alone, in my mind, should justify the expense.
Arizona will be a batleground state for implementation of OHV policy while
at the same time serving as a template for many other states planning
efforts.
I would rather have 20 people at the table who can make this statewide
association happen than have 60 people at the table who will listen to what
the workshop has to say and then do nothing.
Tom Crimmins put us at the brink of doing this years ago and nobody stepped
up to take the ball and run with it. I think it will be money well spent
regardless of how many actual bodies are in attendance.
We're ready to act and it would be a shame not to follow through since many
of these already busy people have made such an effort to get these available
dates.
Are there any ways to reduce expenses? Change location to a gov't building
to reduce cost? I know from contacts with my group, they are counting on me
to represent their interests, so they aren't going to come to something like
this and I suspect it is the same situation for the others.
This is, after all, a LEADERSHIP workshop and you've got the leaders ready
to pitch in and go to work.
Please re-consider the budget consequences and let's focus on the "desired
results" a POWERFUL statewide OHV association. It's Time!

Sanford, Well I agree with you, However this venture is coming our of
NOHVCC's budget and if we do not have enough interest in Arizona it just
seems wise and cost effective to cancel the workshop and reschedule for a
time when there would be adequate attendance. We are hoping that the
interest increases!!

I, for one, think we ought to go ahead and get the thing organized. If we
can all speak with one united voice, we will serve the cause of OHV much
better. Having a lot of participants would be nice, not having the
workshop at all would be a significant setback.

Registration to date for the AZ Leadership Workshop is very low. Please
distribute the attached Registration Deadline release through all of your

If by Friday we still have less than 20 registrations
we will need to consider canceling the Workshop.
NOHVCC will also distribute the Release to the Leadership list provided by

Regardless of possible overlap between your email groups and the NOHVCC

Make sure you get a good price, some dealers still think they are made

Hi Rob,
There is no doubt... the Rubicon is the better choice. In the long run, you
will spend much less money on upgrades AND you cannot beat the
out-of-the-box performance.
The only reasons in my mind NOT to get the Rubicon are:
1. Money
2. You're going to strip the sport down and build a professional
rockcrawler with D60 axles, etc. In which case, why should you pay for
stuff you are going to be taking off anyway.
One GUARANTEED bad buy is the Sahara... Which is what I bought and ended up
taking most of the fluff garbage off of it anyway. The Sahara package is a
waste of money.
Kind Regards,
Joe West

weekend. If we get a good organization set up the entire OHV community would
speak with one voice and have the numbers behind it to make it stick. I urge
everyone that gets involved in the Land Use Meetings and even those that do
not to join in. I do not know how to make everyone understand how important
this could be if we put in the effort to get it started. OK off the soap

I think you may be right (literally) on the light dimmer switch
setting. When I get home I'll try turning it full clockwise.

While the news media has not been overly vocal,
it is easy to find that in Arizona, Montana,
Idaho, Washington and California over 100,000
acres per state has gone up in flames.
This bill is a sensible approach to protection of
live, property and, most important, our natural
resources.
This bill is opposed by the radical environmental
community. Their position is to let the forests
burn.

Healthy Forests Ag Mark-Up (Vote) Thursday, July 24th
Agriculture Committee Markup on Thursday, July 24
The Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and
Forestry will conduct a business meeting on
Thursday, July 24, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in SR-328A
to markup H.R. 1904, the Healthy Forests
Restoration Act of 2003. Attendance and votes
will be recorded for this meeting.
Hundreds of homes have been lost in Arizona.
More have burned in other states. The time for
Congress to fiddle while the West burns is over.
You must contact both your OWN Senators to urge
their support for the HR 1904 BEFORE THURSDAY.
The Enviro Groups are staging an all out call-in
to all Senate offices on Wednesday, July 23rd.
You must challenge them. You must give them some
competition.
All who support the Healthy Forest Restoration
Act must call and fax your Congressman Tuesday,
Wednesday and Thursday, July 22nd to July 24th.
THIS IS AN ALL OUT CALL TO ACTION.
You can call every Senator at (202) 224-3121.
Or, just for fun, use the GREENS own 800 FREE
NUMBER, 800-839-5276. Tie this number up.
Another FREE NUMBER is (800) 648-3516.
It is possible to access your Senators' web pages
to find fax numbers, email addresses and snail
mail addresses at:
http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm.
EVERY SENATOR MUST BE CALLED TO BALANCE OUT THE GREENS.
The Senate Agriculture Committee will now hold
their mark-up on the Healthy Forests Restoration
Act on July 24th. It passed the House in May.
It does not have a Senate number. It will go by
HR 1904, the number used in the House.
The key Senators below still need to receive
overwhelming calls and faxes immediately to urge
them to support the Healthy Forests Restoration
Act.
CALL and FAX TODAY! Your action is needed now!
You own Senators PLUS these Senators must hear
from you Tuesday, Wednesday AND Thursday. Ask
them to pass this legislation from the
Agriculture Committee now! We canít afford to
gamble on losing more water and wildlife by
debating and stalling this issue any longer.
Call and FAX the following Senators to urge them
to support HR 1904 in the Senate Agriculture
Committee Vote Thursday, July 24th. Also call
and fax the Senators from your own state.

Congress is now addressing the forest health
issue through The Healthy Forests Restoration
Act. The premise of the debate is simple and
clear: Given the massive scale of the threat that
catastrophic wildfire and disease and insect
infestation pose to the health of pristine forest
ecosystems, threatened and endangered species,
air quality, water quality and the safety of
thousands of communities, something needs to be
done!
Americaís forest ecosystems are being decimated
at an alarming rate by large-scale catastrophic
wildfires and massive outbreaks of disease,
insect infestation and invasive species.
Currently 190 million acres of land are at
unnatural risk to catastrophic wildfire. Of
that, over 70 million acres are at extreme risk
to catastrophic wildfire in the immediate future.
The summers of 2000 and 2002 were the two largest
and most-destructive fire seasons in the last 50
years.
For 100 years land managers have aggressively
moved to suppress wildland fire in all forms,
including natureís periodic small scale burnings
that restore and rejuvenate forest ecosystems.
The unintended result of this policy is a
decades-long build up forest fuel, woody biomass
and dense underbrush that's as close as the next
lightning strike or escaped camp fire from
exploding into a large-scale wildfire.
In 2002, hundreds of homes and other structures
were destroyed, and thousands of people were
evacuated. 23 firefighters lost their lives.
The American taxpayers spent in excess of $1.5
billion containing 2002ís record setting blazes.
Rural economies that rely on tourism suffered
significant financial losses.
Congress is now addressing the forest health
issue through The Healthy Forests Restoration
Act. The premise of the debate is simple and
clear: Given the massive scale of the threat that
catastrophic wildfire and disease and insect
infestation pose to the health of pristine forest
ecosystems, threatened and endangered species,
air quality, water quality and the safety of
thousands of communities, something needs to be
done!
The Healthy Forests Restoration Act will protect
forests and resourcesÖbut also homes and
communities by allowing for the thinning of
diseased and fire-prone forests.
We must bring common-sense, science-based forest
management to our federal landsÖ.and stop the
never-ending stall tactics and litigation which
has crippled the process for the past decade.
The bill would empower federal land managers with the tools to implement
scientifically supported management practices on
overstocked federal forests, while establishing
new conservation programs focused on improving
water quality and regenerating declining forest
ecosystem types on non-federal lands.
This legislation is crucial for protecting our
air, water and wildlife from insect infestations
and catastrophic wildfires. The status quo of
government bureaucracy has lead to a sharp
decline in the health of the forests.

Could have been done by
accident.

I don't think it can be the door switches. I took out the fuse (Fuse
#4) in the fuse box behind the glove box (this is the fuse I remove
when I take my doors off to disable the door switches) and the lights
remain on.

Subject: FW: URGENT AZ LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP
FYI:
This is the dialog regarding the NOHVCC Workshop scheduled for Aug. 23 &
24............... PLEASE DON'T LET US DOWN.
If we cannot draw enough numbers to justify this workshop it will put us
behind the 8 ball AGAIN............. We MUST MOVE FORWARD in Arizona
regarding recreation. This cannot be done by a few numbers. EVERYONE MUST
JOIN IN.
See you in Aug.

Sanford,
You are correct about how important the meeting is but when Lynn sent the
last message out we had FOUR registrations; one was an MIC representative
and the other three are on the planning team.

Dear Sanford, Sandee, Jeff, Bill, and Terry,
Registration to date for the AZ Leadership Workshop is very low. Please
distribute the attached Registration Deadline release through all of your
AZ electronic networks.
If by Friday we still have less than 20 registrations
we will need to consider canceling the Workshop.
NOHVCC will also distribute the Release to the Leadership list provided by
the Planning Team.
Regardless of possible overlap between your email groups and the NOHVCC
list please distribute as widely as possible to determine if there is
sufficient interest to conduct the Workshop.

Hi Rob,
There is no doubt... the Rubicon is the better choice.

I don't think it can be the door switches. I took out the fuse (Fuse

remain on.

While the news media has not been overly vocal,
it is easy to find that in Arizona, Montana,
Idaho, Washington and California over 100,000
acres per state has gone up in flames.
This bill is a sensible approach to protection of
live, property and, most important, our natural
resources.
This bill is opposed by the radical environmental
community. Their position is to let the forests
burn.

Healthy Forests Ag Mark-Up (Vote) Thursday, July 24th
Agriculture Committee Markup on Thursday, July 24
The Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and
Forestry will conduct a business meeting on
Thursday, July 24, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in SR-328A
to markup H.R. 1904, the Healthy Forests
Restoration Act of 2003. Attendance and votes
will be recorded for this meeting.
Hundreds of homes have been lost in Arizona.
More have burned in other states. The time for
Congress to fiddle while the West burns is over.
You must contact both your OWN Senators to urge
their support for the HR 1904 BEFORE THURSDAY.
The Enviro Groups are staging an all out call-in
to all Senate offices on Wednesday, July 23rd.
You must challenge them. You must give them some
competition.
All who support the Healthy Forest Restoration
Act must call and fax your Congressman Tuesday,
Wednesday and Thursday, July 22nd to July 24th.
THIS IS AN ALL OUT CALL TO ACTION.
You can call every Senator at (202) 224-3121.
Or, just for fun, use the GREENS own 800 FREE
NUMBER, 800-839-5276. Tie this number up.
Another FREE NUMBER is (800) 648-3516.
It is possible to access your Senators' web pages
to find fax numbers, email addresses and snail
mail addresses at:
http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm.
EVERY SENATOR MUST BE CALLED TO BALANCE OUT THE GREENS.
The Senate Agriculture Committee will now hold
their mark-up on the Healthy Forests Restoration
Act on July 24th. It passed the House in May.
It does not have a Senate number. It will go by
HR 1904, the number used in the House.
The key Senators below still need to receive
overwhelming calls and faxes immediately to urge
them to support the Healthy Forests Restoration
Act.
CALL and FAX TODAY! Your action is needed now!
You own Senators PLUS these Senators must hear
from you Tuesday, Wednesday AND Thursday. Ask
them to pass this legislation from the
Agriculture Committee now! We canít afford to
gamble on losing more water and wildlife by
debating and stalling this issue any longer.
Call and FAX the following Senators to urge them
to support HR 1904 in the Senate Agriculture
Committee Vote Thursday, July 24th. Also call
and fax the Senators from your own state.

Congress is now addressing the forest health
issue through The Healthy Forests Restoration
Act. The premise of the debate is simple and
clear: Given the massive scale of the threat that
catastrophic wildfire and disease and insect
infestation pose to the health of pristine forest
ecosystems, threatened and endangered species,
air quality, water quality and the safety of
thousands of communities, something needs to be
done!
Americaís forest ecosystems are being decimated
at an alarming rate by large-scale catastrophic
wildfires and massive outbreaks of disease,
insect infestation and invasive species.
Currently 190 million acres of land are at
unnatural risk to catastrophic wildfire. Of
that, over 70 million acres are at extreme risk
to catastrophic wildfire in the immediate future.
The summers of 2000 and 2002 were the two largest
and most-destructive fire seasons in the last 50
years.
For 100 years land managers have aggressively
moved to suppress wildland fire in all forms,
including natureís periodic small scale burnings
that restore and rejuvenate forest ecosystems.
The unintended result of this policy is a
decades-long build up forest fuel, woody biomass
and dense underbrush that's as close as the next
lightning strike or escaped camp fire from
exploding into a large-scale wildfire.
In 2002, hundreds of homes and other structures
were destroyed, and thousands of people were
evacuated. 23 firefighters lost their lives.
The American taxpayers spent in excess of $1.5
billion containing 2002ís record setting blazes.
Rural economies that rely on tourism suffered
significant financial losses.
Congress is now addressing the forest health
issue through The Healthy Forests Restoration
Act. The premise of the debate is simple and
clear: Given the massive scale of the threat that
catastrophic wildfire and disease and insect
infestation pose to the health of pristine forest
ecosystems, threatened and endangered species,
air quality, water quality and the safety of
thousands of communities, something needs to be
done!
The Healthy Forests Restoration Act will protect
forests and resourcesÖbut also homes and
communities by allowing for the thinning of
diseased and fire-prone forests.
We must bring common-sense, science-based forest
management to our federal landsÖ.and stop the
never-ending stall tactics and litigation which
has crippled the process for the past decade.
The bill would empower federal land managers with the tools to implement
scientifically supported management practices on
overstocked federal forests, while establishing
new conservation programs focused on improving
water quality and regenerating declining forest
ecosystem types on non-federal lands.
This legislation is crucial for protecting our
air, water and wildlife from insect infestations
and catastrophic wildfires. The status quo of
government bureaucracy has lead to a sharp
decline in the health of the forests.

Subject: 8.8
Hey all
I'm still having a hell of a time finding a 8.8 for my 93 YJ. (95 or
newer. Need the setup with the rear disc brake setup). Any leads/help
would be greatly appreciated. I really want to get the spring over
done. All I need now is the rear end. And I'm good to go. Thanks for
any help that can be offered.

Subject: Need Paint Work
I need someone to touch up/fix some paint issues. Is there anyone in
the club that can do this, or know where to go to have it done. I am
pretty much just looking for a decent job at a good price. E-mail me
off list if you can help me out. -Rob

Anyone thought about taking a run with their children?
Is anyone camping overnight?
