I've got a 1966 Triumph Spitfire Mark 4 that I need to get rid of. It
is a complete teardown. Has little rust in the trunk. Body needs
paint. Engine ok needs all new gaskets, rings, etc.

We've got a baby on the way and I'd rather spend any available cash
on my Jeep so the Spit will continue to sit there. Needs title, but
bond title should be cheap.

All offers considered.

Thanks,
Phil

get out of the heat. Since the Payson Area is closed due to the fire
restrictions, we are going up to the Sedona area to meet her brother. I told
him I would take him through broken arrow on Saturday. If anyone is

Hey Mike, looks like the azvjc.org site is down again. It's my understanding
that when this happens, it is a database server that has gone down and you
end up having to send an email to someone to restart the server. Assuming
this is all true, would it be possible to write a utility that would "ping" the
database server and send the email automatically whenever the server cannot
be "ping-ed"? This would hopefully minimize the downtime for the site.

Hey Steve, I've seen that TJ of yours and I would advise against taking your doors off at all. There has to be at least a 4-6 foot drop if you were to fall out. Just make sure you keep mama buckled in.

The manual says that the dome light will go out automatically after
20 minutes. Is there an override "something" that can be done so
the dome light doesn't come on while the doors are off?

Broken Arrow is a fun trail with great scenery. A stock Jeep can make this run and there are areas for those with built rigs to test and flex their suspension, such as the Crack. Pay attention to the signs, as part of this trail is a one-way loop.

A lot of Pink Jeeps share the trail so please put your best foot forward while representing our club. For many of the passengers on those Jeep tours, you are the first real off-roader they have ever seen (gosh, that is a scarey thought!) You will find that most of the pink drivers are pretty cool!

The Devil's Staircase is fun, and some members have been known to run it bottom-to-top. If you do, please post a look-out at the top to prevent someone from coming down while you are trying to go up.

It usually takes a couple of hours to make the loop, which allows ample time for pictures and a stop at Chicken Point for lunch (you did bring lunch, didn't you?)

Enjoy and remember to TREAD Lightly!

James,
I've got a 96 ZJ and it sounds like what I had a problem with a couple
of months ago. I'd check the Idle Air Control Valve. It is located
on the rear of the throttle body, with a couple of wires coming out of
it and held on by a couple of screws. When I took mine off it was
full of gunk. Bought a new one at Auto Zone for $38.00. I also
changed spark plugs and installed a new cap and rotor. I'm sure it
was the IAC Valve though. Make sure you take the old one off and take
it with you, because the I-6 engine and the V-8 ones are very similar.
HTH - email me if you have any questions.

Hi Gang,

Troy from Toys by Troy needed some shots of my transfer
case/transmission skid arrangement so he could see if there is anything
custom he can make for me. Since Troy needed some pictures, I just went
ahead and made a quick webpage with the pictures.

If you want to look at the pictures, go to:

http://www.flatfendertj.com <http://www.flatfendertj.com/>

Click on Modifications and then on Transmission or Transfer Case Skid.
either link will take you to the pictures.

Kind Regards,

The Lake Pleasang to Crown King trail is a local favorite. On any given
weekend, there will be numerous groups of four wheelers, ATV's and
motorcycles heading to and from Crown King. It is a fun and scenic trail
into the cooler pines of the Bradshaws. This trail was the first trip ever done by
AzVJC.

The trail takes off from the Castle Hotsprings Rd and travels through
the foot hills and up the side of the mountain, giving nice views of
Lake Pleasant and the Valley. There are some tougher optional sections
that can make it interesting.

The trail goes through the old ghost towns of Fort Misery and Oro Belle,
both of which are remnants of the Mining era of the Bradshaw Mountains.
All that remains now, are foundations and a few crumbling walls. Fort
Misery makes a nice place to stop and eat lunch as the small creek
usually has running water and there are trees to provide shade.

In the winter months, the trail from Fort Misery through Oro Belle to
Crown King will often have snow and/or ice. In the summer, an early
start is necessary to stay ahead of the rising temperatures.

Once on top of the mountain, the trail runs through the cool pines and
into Crown King. In Crown King there are places to eat and have a drink,
and a general store that sells some excellent fudge. The old Crown King
Saloon was actually built in Oro Belle, and later hauled up (many years
ago) to Crown King and rebuilt. In Oro Belle, the saloon was built into
the side of the hill, so the upstairs were mainly accessable from the
rear of the building (at ground level). The upstairs served as a place
repose for women of ill fame.

There are campgrounds on top of the mountain near Crown King for those
wishing to stay overnight. The fastest way down is via the main road
which leads through Cleator and toward Bumble Bee. You can split off and
go through Cordes Junction, which will get you to the Freeway quicker,
or keep going strait and go through the little town of Bumble Bee.

Alternatively, you can take the Senator Highway toward Prescott or
Mayer, this can be a very interesting trail during snow season. If you
have the time, follow Towers Mountain rd through Crown King and up to
the top of Towers Mountain, there are some excellent views and you can
join back up with the Senator Highway afterward.

Have fun, remember to bring water and your camera.

Enjoy, and remember to TREAD Lightly!

Subject: transfer case ?

My jeep is leaking form the rear drive shaft. The strang thing is it
looks like the fluid is comming through the center of the drive shaft
and on top of that the fluid is pink (is that possible?). The jeep
is a 1990 wrangler 6 shooter with an AX-15 5 speed manual trans.
Could the leak be coming form my rear transfer case seal? this is
the only think I can think of because it is pink fluids. I also need
some advide on if it is the the transfer case seal can a regular guy
replace it or should it go the the shop. I just figued it would cost
a grand or so in a shop. I really am in a bind guys so if you can
shoot me your advide it would be great.

Happy Wheeling,
Brandon

The NV to-case you have holds AFT (which is red/pink), so that's likely the
culprit...probably your output shaft seal.

Subject: [TR] Crown King from Lake Pleasant - Saturday, August 16, 2003

Hello All,Kent Warner is leading a Crown King from Lake Pleasant trail run on Saturday, August 16, 2003.

When: 8:00 AM
Where: Meet on the main road just after the last Lake Toll Booth, and before the bridge.
Rating: 3.0-
Length:
CB Channel: 4

The 3rd wave up the hill. Let's try to roll real close to 8.

The Lake Pleasang to Crown King trail is a local favorite. On any given weekend, there will be numerous groups of four wheelers, ATV's and motorcycles heading to and from Crown King. It is a fun and scenic trail into the cooler pines of the Bradshaws. This trail was the first trip ever done by AzVJC.

The trail takes off from the Castle Hotsprings Rd and travels through the foot hills and up the side of the mountain, giving nice views of Lake Pleasant and the Valley. There are some tougher optional sections that can make it interesting.

The trail goes through the old ghost towns of Fort Misery and Oro Belle, both of which are remnants of the Mining era of the Bradshaw Mountains. All that remains now, are foundations and a few crumbling walls. Fort Misery makes a nice place to stop and eat lunch as the small creek usually has running water and there are trees to provide shade.

In the winter months, the trail from Fort Misery through Oro Belle to Crown King will often have snow and/or ice. In the summer, an early start is necessary to stay ahead of the rising temperatures.

Once on top of the mountain, the trail runs through the cool pines and into Crown King. In Crown King there are places to eat and have a drink, and a general store that sells some excellent fudge. The old Crown King Saloon was actually built in Oro Belle, and later hauled up (many years ago) to Crown King and rebuilt. In Oro Belle, the saloon was built into the side of the hill, so the upstairs were mainly accessable from the rear of the building (at ground level). The upstairs served as a place repose for women of ill fame.

There are campgrounds on top of the mountain near Crown King for those wishing to stay overnight. The fastest way down is via the main road which leads through Cleator and toward Bumble Bee. You can split off and go through Cordes Junction, which will get you to the Freeway quicker, or keep going strait and go through the little town of Bumble Bee.

Alternatively, you can take the Senator Highway toward Prescott or Mayer, this can be a very interesting trail during snow season. If you have the time, follow Towers Mountain rd through Crown King and up to the top of Towers Mountain, there are some excellent views and you can join back up with the Senator Highway afterward.

Have fun, remember to bring water and your camera.

Enjoy, and remember to TREAD Lightly!
