This is especially true in these trying days of summer with all the fires we have now. My son Cody, also a member of this club spent all day yesterday from 6am until 11pm last night fighting a small 4 acre fire on the 504 road to Winslow. Subject: Heim Joint Recommendations?

Looking for some guidance in the way of heim joints. I've bent a couple now
and although I have gotten them replaced for free, I want to find a stronger
joint thats going to last. The heims that I have bent are on the lower
control arms of my tri-link set up. I dont even want to think about what
would have happened had they broke instead of just bent.......

This is what I am looking for: +/- 30 degrees, 3/4-16 Right Hand Thread,
14mm bore

I have found a lot online but everyone says that there stuff is the best.
Anyone else had to replace heims? What did you go with? Did they hold up?
The ones I have bent had a 35,000 Pound Radial Load Capacity which is a bit
scary.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello All,
Brad Weikert lead a trail run Saturday, July 19, 2003 across Judgment Day

We had nine rigs show up. Thanks everyone for coming out and thanks Dan for taking the lead. Things were a little disorganized and we got spread out several times but we regrouped each time and everyone went home with no damage that I know of. Overall I feel like it was a good run, especially considering the number of rigs on the first trip I ever posted. I hope you all enjoyed it at least as much as I did. I look forward to meeting you all again on future runs...

Hello,

Just recently, 20 acres of land known as the Red Cloud Mine in La Paz
County, Arizona became available for sale. This land is located within the
Trigo Mountain Wilderness area, which has over 30,000 acres of BLM land.
This is a great off-road area with plenty of jeep trails around and areas to
explore. The mine itself was an active silver/lead mine in the 1800's and
has produced some outstanding wulfenite crystals in the later years. If
you and/or your club might have any interest in this property, you can see
more information on my web site at

So.I was updating the web site and was digging through some pictures.

Here is my '98 TJ, shortly after I bought it (I had installed a ham

flashlight in it too!

Here is a picture taken just last week, after it arrived home from
Troy's shop.
http://www.stu-offroad.com/98tj/tj-jul-2003.jpg

I've got an entire web site filled full of mods and work that were done
between the time those two pictures were taken. Wow...

Anybody else got before and after pics?

(please post a link to the picture so we don't choke the system with
pictures that some may not wish to experience on their dial-up

That was me. I had just moved to Phoenix a month earlier, bought my Jeep
and wanted to go to the mountains. I didn't know much about weather here,
just that it got chilly at night in the city. So, I left that morn, put on
some jeans and took a couple coats with me. It was a nice morning and day,
but midway through the trail, the clouds came down (this was on the alpin
leap trail, 4000 feet up in the mountains) and it started snowing, alot. By
the time we finished the trail we couldn't even recognize the way we had
come in because the clouds were so low and the snow was deep. I drove back
to phoenix and FROZE my *** off. I was cold for three hours to the bone. I
also had a foot of snow in my Jeep. I loved it. It was a great time and my
first trip with the azvjc. It was Oct. 98. If you go look at the trip
report, I think there are more pictures there. Ya, that's also linda's
little zj. On that same website, if you look at the pic for the zj, it is
Linda again on the same trail but before the weather turned bad. When the
weather hit, it was in a split moment and came down hard.

It is funny to look back and see where we all came from...I was
looking at some pics the other day from the first run I ever made
with the VJC...what a change and I hold you guys responsible for it,
I was perfectly happy with my stock tires and lift, it was a real
crowd pleaser, hummmm now look at it ... hehehe

Subject: Gas Tank Skid

I have a Toys by Troy gas tank skid that I need to install on my '03
TJ. I looks to be strait forward enough but with not having my
FSM yet I want to make sure I don't make any dumb mistakes
when I R&R the tank. Is there anything I need to look out for
other than making sure the tank is fairly empty? Any chance
someone could email me the relevant pages of the FSM? My
email address is a292ATamug.org. Replace the "AT" with "@",
sorry that's the only way I know to make the entire address
appear on Yahoo.

Thanks
Brad

Brad,

Here is a link for installing a Kilby skid. It should be about the same. I
just installed the Kilby skid with very little trouble. To empty the tank,
I just drove around until I ran out of gas and then added a gallon from one
of my jerry cans. It was interesting after I had new skid installed. The
old one was pretty dented up and the tank was pushed in a bit. With the new
(undented) skid, I could here the tank popping back in shape when I filled
the tank up the first couple of times.
