Nah, the trick is to find the part yourself on their web site (
Partsamerica.com ) and select the option to pick it up at your local
store. Odds are you know more about your vehicle than the droid behind
the counter. Another benefit of this trick is that you don't have to
pay sales tax!
And as long as you buy a name brand part from Checker, I don't think
there's any problem. If you feel better spending more money, by all
means, go to the dealer. :-)

Linda,
Those are true 10" coils. Troy says with the additional weight most of the
trail rigs carry they settle in to about 8" net lift. I saw no indication of
these coils bowing. Stu will have a set on his TJ. The ride is remarkable
with those coils and Troys long arms and steering. I used to think the RE
long arm I had on my (now sold) Jeep was sweet but Troys setup takes it to a
whole new level. If you are curious stop by his shop, I'm 100% sure he'd let
you test drive it.

Scott,
Are those 10" coils just plain suspension coils? Coil-over shocks? Or
MacPherson struts? Just curious.
I was at the edge of the 4:1 rule with 6" coils on the ZJ. The 6"
coils were 22" long, 4" dia (working from memory), 140-150#/in
compression. These were custom made coils, not off-the-shelf. The
spring diameter could not be increased. The 4:1 rule is if the length
is more than 4x the diameter, the spring will start bowing. Those
springs gave the ZJ a great ride and incredible axle articulation.

Too bad he is on the opposite side of town. After driving to ASU-West
for a summer school class, I don't have much desire to go that way
for a while! The suspension; however, would be interesting to see.

Linda,
You can count on Stu to post a thorough writeup with pics in the next week.
I'm sure he'll post a note to the group.

Too bad he is on the opposite side of town. After driving to ASU-West
for a summer school class, I don't have much desire to go that way
for a while! The suspension; however, would be interesting to see.

Subject: 10" coils [was Re: New Member lots of questions]
My guess that the front coils are designed to handle the weight of a
winch and a fairly stout bumper. That's the part of the spring rule I
missed. If I recall there is also wire dia and number of winds, but I
can't think of the ratio. I found a really good compression spring
tutorial a few years ago that covers this stuff. It was buried in a
college engineering department website.
Regardless, I'm impressed! Though 37" tires and 10" of lift on a 93"
wheelbase sounds a bit scary. ;-)

Sounds like the MG producers don't have a clue, and the responder has a bad
attitude. I have lost my enthusiasm for the show of late.

Visited Sam's Club on Indian School and 20th St. and saw no Cobra's

I had a few interested in a cooler run this weekend so this is it. We are going to try to add more water time for us non air condition jeeps. This will be a fun run completion a full trail might not happen because of water time. This is my second time out there and if none else whats to lead expect a few wrong turns. Idea is jeepin, water, jeepin more water.
To get there take Pima Rd north to Cave Creek (5 miles or so),turn right,go east another 5 miles or so to Bartlett Lake turn-off go another 15 miles or so to the paystation.

Though 37" tires and 10" of lift on a 93"
wheelbase sounds a bit scary. ;-)
