didn't look like this has been posted yet.

From a postcard I received

BLM invites you to tell us what types of recreation and road access are important to you in the Phoenix "Table Mesa Recreation" area. Consider the following multiple recreational opportunities on these public lands:

- Safe, recreational shooting areas
- Access points for recreational areas
- additional parking/trailhead needs
- open or closed routes and why
- private property access issues
- valid existing rights

You are invited to one of two public meetings. You need to attend only one.

Tuesday, November 18th, 6:30 - 8:00 P.M.
Deer Valley Senior Center
2001 West Wahalla Lane, Phx

Thursday, November 20th, 6:30 - 8:00 P.M.
Anthem Community Center
41130 North Freedom Way, Anthem

questions? Call Tom Bickauskas at 623-580-5502
or email comments (on the plan?) to AZ_PDO_Routes@BLM.gov

to view the current route/mapping area
http://www.blm.gov/az/st/en/prog/travel_mgmt/bumblebee/maps.html

Once we obtain public input, the BLM will finalize a Recreational Activity Plan/Travel Management Plan and Environmental Assessment(EA). When completed, the BLM will seek funding for and implement the Table Mesa Recreational Plan and associated projects.

Yes.

Let's get some people involved with this one, it's important and the results of the changes at TM will dictate possible changes elsewhere (Syck, FJ, etc,)

Would you rather wear pink with purple flowers and teletubies printed on?

:D When you have a group of people wearing the same color it shows we are united...when we show at most meetings wearing red BLM REMEMBERS US! it is known red is a color of action, standing up to a cause, perseverance, determination, love! Now if we can get the ladies to wear red bikinis...

I forgot how it started though...

BLM seeks public input on recreation, road access in Table Mesa area

Nov. 14, 2008

Public meetings scheduled Nov. 18 and 20; comments accepted through Dec. 20

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is asking the public for input on what types of recreational uses and road access should be taken into consideration for future management of the “Table Mesa Recreation Area.”

The area is located about 35 miles north of Phoenix between I-17 and the northeast end of Lake Pleasant (view map).

Area users are encouraged to provide input to assist the BLM in development of a Recreation Activity Plan/Travel Management Plan and Environmental Assessment. Some of the issues to consider are:

Are there roads you would like to see closed or opened, and why?
Can you identify areas that are best for off-road vehicles, horseback riding, hiking, or other uses?
Should areas be provided for safe target shooting?
What access points should be provided for recreation areas?
Are there needs for additional parking/trailheads?
What private property access issues need to be considered?
Are there valid existing rights that need to be considered?
What other issues for the area are important to you?
Two public meetings have been scheduled to provide information and give the public the opportunity to provide input:

Phoenix, Tuesday, Nov. 18, 6:30-8:00 p.m., Deer Valley Senior Center, 2001 W. Wahalla Lane.

Anthem, Thursday, Nov. 20, 6:30-8:00 p.m., Anthem Community Center, 41130 North Freedom Way.
Written input can also be submitted from now through Dec. 20 via e-mail to AZ_PDO_Routes@BLM.gov.

For more information, visit the BLM’s Web site at www.blm.gov/az and click on the Table Mesa link under “In the Spotlight,” or call Project Manager Tom Bickauskas at (623) 580-5502.

While not asking for super secret strategy to be given away in a public forum has anyone looked at the maps to see what they're proposing? Or is the idea to object to any closures? My thought is that the TM area, specifically from the New River exit north to Rock Springs is pretty used already between shooting & various forms of wheeling so it might as well be left as a recreation zone and established trails in washes left open and open terrain blocked off.

This is just a small part of the map which, overall, is pretty crappy. I'd recommend bringing the maps up in two browser tabs or windows and switching back & forth to see the changes.

If you haven't looked at the maps the BLM plan covers everything from I-17 to Wickenburg north of SR 74, most of the Bradshaw foothills, over to Cordes.

This is just a small section of the map titled "proposed solution" which covers the TM area. You need to look at the full map.

Anything in Red or another color dashed with RED is closed.

Green is open to all uses. Yellowish is open to non-motorized uses,
I think the darker purple is open rock-crawling and the lighter I think is "proposed routes across state trust land." - depends on the context I guess.

Once you sign in you can't leave till it's over.
