9/21/08 - SAR Meeting at Mesa Library Saguaro Room

Meeting was called to order at 1420 on 21 September 2008 at Saguaro Room at the Mesa Public Library

Present: Stephen Thomas(KE7TLS), Virgil Silhanek(K7AZV), Tony Martineau(WB7PZH), Chad Chaney (KE7VON)

1. Reviewed 8-24-2008 minutes. Approved.

2. Sept. 6/7 Wilderness First Aid and CPR class = Completed/Success. Thanks Dallas and Tony.
-Planning on offering WFA&CPR class twice a year.
-Because of holidays, next class will possibly be offered January 2009 pending Dallas' schedule.

3. CPR classes offered by local fire departments. =Still needs completed - Virgil
-Collect information and post on VJC SAR forum.
-Also Red Cross, ASHI, and American Heart class info.

4. Helicopter Landing Zone
-Still not scheduled. Steve is working on finalizing date of Oct. 5.
-Information will be posted for all clubs to come/join in. This will be free.

5. SAR Activation
- Need to setup drill activity to test what is being worked on.
- Meeting with Mike and Rich from MCECG. -Virgil will contact.

6. SAR Drill Activities
-Airpark Jeep Jam -Virgil will contact Jason at Airpark.
-Other offroad events or runs.
-Butcher Jones recoveries. -Virgil will contact David C.

7. Future Classes
-SAR Tech 3 - Dallas Lane
-Communications - Mike Pulley
-Water rescue - AZPaddler
-Maps and Compass - AZXJ
-Survival - TFoshee? Kozak?

8. Future meetings
-Oct. 19, 2008 at 2pm. Mesa Public Library Saguaro Room
-We would like to begin monthly training classes.

-Nov. 15 possible Survival course with Scott Kozak. Tony is contacting Scott.

-Jan. 2009 - Dallas Lane SAR Tech class.

I thought the SAR meeting was the 4th Sunday of the month .....

Ok, I'm not sure what happened, but we reserved the room at the Mesa Library for the 3rd Sunday's in Sept. and Oct.

October meeting is on Oct. 19 at 2pm.
