Well, they may have evolved to imitate the sound of the rattle, *but*, they also will vibrate their tails, and, if they are in dry leaves, or something like that, will sound a little bit like a rattle..
Many different types of snakes will vibrate their tails, it's certainly not unique to rattlesnakes..
Best,
Fred

Do you think maybe that they are trying to imitate the sound of the rattle by hissing…

Sonoran Gopher Snake..
Non venomous..
Very common..
They can reach lengths of over 6 feet..
This is un-doubtably what John saw on his porch the other night..
They are spirited hissers..
No rattlesnakes can hiss.

Hissing is a specialized thing that only certain snakes are capabile of..
The ones than can hiss, have a physical modification at the end of their

it says nothing about internal engine dimensions, or even extarnal bolt on equipment.
it mearly states that the vehicle must not pull codes when scanned.
very easy to build a stroker motor that still runs off the factory computer, and pulls no codes, especially if you have a custom chip burn'd for your particular application.
www.streetflight.com (ask for Dave or Keith)in Mesa has been doing a lot of work on obdII chip burning and testing with state emmissions facilies as backup.
Hot Rods are not on the out, they are just not the old backyard built/tuned variety any more.

In the tech section they claim it creates more of the highly
branched hydrocarbon molecules in gasoline, increasing its
octane and yet reduces them in diesel, lowering its octane. No
offense but it sounds like snake oil to me...
If it really worked wouldn't the automakers be installing them to
lower their cost of making cars pass emissions and CAFE
standards?
Let me know if you try it and it works, then I'll be in the market...

The ones than can hiss, have a physical modification at the end of their
windpipe, in the bottom of the mouth..

it says nothing about internal engine dimensions, or even extarnal bolt on equipment.
it mearly states that the vehicle must not pull codes when scanned.
very easy to build a stroker motor that still runs off the factory computer, and pulls no codes, especially if you have a custom chip burn'd for your particular application.
www.streetflight.com (ask for Dave or Keith)in Mesa has been doing a lot of work on obdII chip burning and testing with state emmissions facilies as backup.
