Subject: Lift kits

I was listening ot the radio the other day and I heard an add for
free install on lifts. The only problem is that I was not able to
get the name of the company. If anyone has heard this add (I think
that I heard it on 93.3), please let me know. I know that it for the
Saturday only.

Thanks,
Rob

4 wheel parts has been advertising free install on a couple
different lifts. I know superlift was one, but installing a lift is
pretty easy, so you shouldn't be swayed to buy a lift you didn't
exactly want just for the free install. There are plenty of guys on
this list who have installed many lifts and will help you. -Rob

4wd hardware sells the spring plate for under $20.

They are UnderBody>Axles>

4wheel parts wholesalers carries those nifty currie ones with the skid plate for significantly more (like$85-95)

Not really "issues". The MT/R's are made of a softer rubber than the
BFG MT's so they'll wear faster on the pavement. If you don't wheel
much or the wheeling you do is on easy trails (i.e. no rock
crawling), and you're concerned about mileage, go with the BFG's.

I don't mind, as a matter of fact, I was thinking Scott K. could use
these tires for driving on the street. Since he went to 6 lug and to
save some wear-and-tear on those 37's.

Great! People always jump the gun when they get a virus from somebody. If they take the time to educate themselves on the behavior of most modern virus then they will see that who it says sent it is not actually true. Like we said earlier usually whoever sent it has both the people in their contact list, the person it puts in the from: field and the person in the to: field. Rarely is the from field an indication of where it really came from. In my experience a circle friends often times is small and can be traced back if you know what you are doing. It's still smart to update your protection and do a thorough scan any time there is a scare.

I have a client that took off their antivirus software because they didn't like how it affected the performance. They noticed their PC was very slow lately. Turns out they acquired a trojan that notified a hacker via an IRC channel and the hacker had complete control of their system including installing applications on the PC. The client is concerned about compromised social security numbers in their database. This is serious stuff. Too many people overlook virus protection and firewall protection. The broadband providers are partly to blame. I think Cox and Qwest should be more proactive in suggesting firewall and antivirus use. Of course in this instance I had suggested what to do numerous times but ultimately it is up to the end user.

Did this wrench party die out? Hope not 'cuz my RE 3.5 SuperFlex
arrives next week! I am OK on tools and my garage should have
everything, including lots of space, but wouldn't mind some
experienced oversite from someone who has done one or two of these.
Helpers would gain my sincere gratitude (or beer and pizza, if you
prefer that sort of thing).

On a side note, I didn't get the adjustable track bar with this kit.
My thinking is that I probably won't need it, I am only going up 3.5
inches. Does that match up with peoples experience? I guess I can
get it later if I need it.

The best thing people can do is to stop using Internet Explorer and
Outlook Express.
These two products are invitations to viruses. But even if you are
using alternatives
like Opera or Netscape or Eudora, you must always be vigilant by running
virus
checking software regularly, installing hardware/software firewalls,
etc.

Actually the best thing you can do is disconnect your computer(/network)
from the internet. But just short of that you can purchase a
subscription to a service that will intercept your email and disinfects
it before you receive it. There are a few that are very good and stay on
top of malicious programs.

If you are in charge of a network and/or computer for a business you
might find this a very worth while tool.

Chris,

When I talked with you about this my thinking was that I would camp
out, so long as it was at a campground with hot showers (I think I
mentioned that). I found one, but when I looked at the weather for
this week end there is a chance of rain and lows around 30, and I
don't have camping gear for much below 40 degrees.

For me the other option is a hotel, but I just dropped all my spare
change on a lift kit, so I really don't have the funds for that either.

Maybe Joe's idea would work, and reschedule this for a little later in
the spring (i.e. warmer nights). How much confirmed interest have you
been getting on this?

the tap broke too, so, be gentle, or have a spare handy.
i put the rig in reverse and let the shaft spin while cutting...
i forget how i measured for the d/s... did it while on the phone getting instructions from the Guy ordering my stuff.

Good luck

Subject: [az_vjc] SYE Question

Does anyone know where to find a writeup online for the install of
the RE Cut & Tap SYE kit? I'm going to be doing mine this weekend
and I am doing as much research as possible until then. It looks
pretty easy, so I just want to make sure I learn by everyone else's
mistakes! LOL Oh yeah and how do I measure the driveshaft length?
From the yoke (t-case output) to yoke (on pinion) in and straight
line? -Rob

I've been using Inernet Explorer, Outlook and Outlook express exclusively for years now. I've NEVER had a problem with any virus/worm. AND I don't run any TSR virus software either.

How do I avoid rogue code?

I view my mail in the preview pane in Outlook. I never open attachments directly; I always save them to the HD and scan them if they can contain executable code.

I have my IE security settings set to prompt me for everything when in the "internet zone." Javascript is disabled. If I trust a website, I add it to my trusted websites list where security settings are lower.

I also run a Software Firewall that will alert me when any unknown application attempts to use the network.

IE offers a more definable protection level than Netscape, you just have to take the time to set it up. If you think running Nutscrape is going to protect you from malicious applications then I have some bridges for sale...

Oh, and MAC's and UNIX/LINUX machines aren't immune either. Its just that they're not targeted by would be virus programmers the way that MS is. I guess even virus programmers aren't willing to write software that only runs on 10% of the world's computers...

Don't forget the Linux crowd... I switched from Sun to Linux a couple
months ago, and no viruses yet. But holy cow, this linux box is fast
compared to the old Ultra10...
