Andy,
I ran that lift for a couple of years and it did just fine.
You do not need a slip-yoke eliminator.
You do not need longer brake lines.
You do not want a dropped pitman arm.
If you have front end sag due to a bumper or winch, you can always add a
1" spacer.
It can be done in a morning and wrapped up in time lunch.
You will need longer shocks to take full advantage of the extra flex.
If you don't already have them, I would suggest front sway bar
disconnects of some type. I myself used the Tera discos and they worked
nicely.
http://www.stu-offroad.com/98jeep_lift/tj_lift1.htm covers my install
and comments about the Tera 2" lift.

Subject: [az_vjc] two-inch lift for 97 TJ
Hi All:
I'd like to slap a two-inch lift on my '97 TJ (i know - it's lame)
to eliminate tire rub (31" BFG MT's). I basically do some mild
wheeling (3.0 - 4.0), but will be driving it across the country on
my sabbatical this summer. Was wondering what sort of "gotcha's"
might be involved, for instance:
* Is a slip-yoke eliminator necessary?
* Will I need to extend the brake lines?
* Should I get a dropped pitman arm?
* If i have a winch/heavy front bumper, should i also put spacers
on the front springs to compensate for any sag?
* what sort of time should i allot for doing the install (e.g. is
it a six-pack worth of effort or a full case...)?
* What other questions should I ask?
I'm toying with the idea of the Teraflex 2" lift - they've got a
real nice write-up on how to install it on their website. Any
recommendations for a 2" lift are welcome - I'd prefer not to pay a
zillion dollars when it's only a 2" lift (and my money is supposed
to be allotted to my CJ5 project).
Thanks in advance
Andy Thomas

Im not too familiar with XJ's or AC for that matter but what i would try
doing is getting a fuzable link wire (radio shack or somthing) and run
direct possitive voltage from your battery to your blower connections and
see if it is the motor it self. if it is replace it, if its not find a way
to hard mount the wire so you have air till you do find the short as a
temporary fix. if there is a short between it you really have to find the
wire and trace it around, its a real pain.

Hi Gang,
My daughter needed to have two front tires replaced... the local discount
tire guy who didn't know my daughter from Adam wouldn't pro-rate her worn
discount tires (worn because of a front end alignment problem so really,
this was proper company policy). A quick call to Rick Beer resulted in a
50% discount and an almost $80 savings over what my daughter was quoted.
Once again... Rick goes out of his way to make a happy customer.
Thanks Rick!

By the way... Rick is located at the 4th avenue and Bell Road Discount Tire
store... but you can call him and he will take care of your order and you
can pick the tires up at any Discount Tire Store located near you.

I have to jump in here on this one. Has anyone considered the Pro-Comp
X-Terrains? These are an excellent all around tire for street and,
rocks, mud, sand as rated in several test by the off-road mags. I am
extremely pleased with them on the CAMO COW and anyone that has seen it
in action knows those tires just flat pull..

Chris,
You should pursue it if it is important to you. Unfortunately, this was too
short a notice for me, and I suspect for many others as well. I think if I
were in your shoes... I'd be asking the Boy Scouts if we could schedule
something out a couple of months and then create a trip and let people sign
up (of course, this may not be an option). You are doing a great job by
trying to organize this effort and even if you don't get a great turnout
because of short notice and Easter... it doesn't diminish your efforts.
Keep up the good work and try not to be discouraged by low turnout... this
is just really bad timing.
Kind Regards,
Joe West

Andy,
I ran that lift for a couple of years and it did just fine.

* Is a slip-yoke eliminator necessary?

Joe West

Kind Regards,
Joe West

Subject: OT Anyone have a Toyota Rear Axle Set up?
I know we have a few members that don't run Jeeps and I have a
friend that blew up his rear end of his Toyota. It is an 86 SR5
4x4. At minimum he needs a new carrier. Please email me off line
if you have anything that can help him.
Thanks,
Chris
