Which is better, the RE (RE1620) adj., or the TeraFlex (TBART) adj.
I haven't seen either in person, and I need to get one. To me the
Teraflex looks better as it looks like it has the stock shape, ie;
going around the crap). But a little bit of opinions would be nice

Subject: Re: Warning: Powertrax No-slip design error
I had a similar problem with my Dana 35C Powertrax No-Slip. I called
Powertrax, they basically said "yep, it is wrong". I called 4-
Wheeler Supply where I bought it and had them open another box on the
shelf to check the part in question. The other box was right, so I
drove back downtown and got the exchange.
PITA since I live in Fountain Hills and had my Jeep torn apart, but
as usual, 4-Wheeler took care of me in fine fashion.

Hello AZVJC,
I have a 2001 TJ and the questions is:
If a set of ACOS are installed after I install my SYE and a new drive
shaft, will I have to get another drive shaft for the increased
height?
Currently the Jeep has a 1" body lift and I lost some clearence with
the extended flares that I added. So I am trying to get back 1"-
1.5". When ACOS's are installed, what does this do to the
suspension? Will any other modifications be required?
Also, are there any other "coil over spacer" products that compete
with JKS? I am sure JKS has a quality product, but they seem a
little pricey.
Any information and/or advice will be apprecitated.

Subject: RE: Adjustable Coil Over Spacer
Anytime you adjust your ride height it will have an impact on driveshaft
angles and steering geometry. If you adjust the front you definitely need to
check the toe and caster angle. Any lifting up front will effect the rear
due to weight transfer. If only the front is raised the rear will drop
slightly and may require adjustments to the pinion angle. Whether or not the
driveshaft is the correct length will have to be determined after the fact.
Small adjustments such as those you are writing about usually do not need
any additional driveshaft length mods but I would check it just to be safe.

You will see several manufactures with their name on the ACOS system.
This system is actually made by Off Road General Store. No one that I
am aware of makes a similar adjustable system. For what it is and how
its made, the price is pretty fair.

Something to consider on the front is if you need a new carrier in the
D30. If you are running lower numerically than 3.73 in the D30 you
will need a new carrier. Once you add a carrier onto the price of a
lockrite you are less than $100 from a Detroit for the D30. If you do
some looking you can get a D30 Detroit for about $370.
For the rear you really should consider the Powertrax no-slip over the
EZ-locker or Lockrite. While it is about $100 more the smoothness of a
soft locker design in the rear is a big improvment. I switched my D44
from a lockrite to a Detroit Softlocker and I'll never put a hard
locker in the rear again if I can help it. (The Detroit for the 8.25
and other C-clip axles is a hard locker design).

Pull the front drive shaft. On the 242 it spins all the time. The
vibration could be the CV joint needing grease or even a bad axle ujoint.
BTW: what do you mean by non-adjustable speedo? The only thing you
need to do adjust the speedo is to change gears in transfer case.
Costs about $15 for a new gear.

The ACOS at it's lowest adjustment will give you 1.25".......make sure this
won't be too much for what your trying to achieve. Another option would be
a set of poly spring spacers which run about $30 a pair.

Small adjustments such as those you are writing about usually do not need
any additional driveshaft length mods but I would check it just to be safe.

with JKS? I am sure JKS has a quality product, but they seem a
little pricey.
Any information and/or advice will be apprecitated.

I saw it and laughed a lot about it.

Pull the front drive shaft. On the 242 it spins all the time. The
vibration could be the CV joint needing grease or even a bad axle ujoint.
BTW: what do you mean by non-adjustable speedo? The only thing you
need to do adjust the speedo is to change gears in transfer case.
Costs about $15 for a new gear.

and up. That's on a non-adjusted speedo running 31" tires. The tires
are all balanced. I've pulled the rear drive line and checked/greased
the "u"joints. This is on a 87 XJ with auto trans/242 xcase.. So what
am I missing?

The ACOS at it's lowest adjustment will give you 1.25".......make sure this
won't be too much for what your trying to achieve. Another option would be
a set of poly spring spacers which run about $30 a pair.
